I have enjoyed every tea that I’ve tried from Zi Chun thus far and this one is no exception. I don’t often encounter rose Oolong teas, but this one is a winner. The rose is soft, slightly sharp, and sweet. The Oolong tastes sweet and silky. Buttery.

A really nice Oolong experience, you can read about it here: http://sororiteasisters.com/2014/02/01/rose-oolong-tea-from-zi-chun-tea-co/

Thank you TeaEqualsBliss for sending me some of this tea!

I love Jasmine Oolong teas … and having tried a few of Zi Chun’s teas … I knew that this one would be top-notch. The teas from Zi Chun Tea Co are among some of the very best I’ve ever tasted.

This has a lovely Jasmine flavor – sweet and exotic! It is creamy from the Oolong, but the sharp notes of the jasmine offset the creaminess just enough to create a soft, smooth texture without being too overwhelmingly “heavy.”

A really good Jasmine Oolong, here is my full-length review: http://sororiteasisters.com/2013/04/15/premium-jasmine-oolong-tea-from-zi-chun-tea-co/

Thank you TeaEqualsBliss for sending me this Oolong – it’s lovely – or should I say, it’s a beauty?

It’s pleasantly sweet. The first cup (infusions 1 and 2, following a quick rinse) has a sweet and sour kind of fruit taste – it’s very savory, almost like a soup. Very enjoyable and satisfying.

With subsequent infusions, I find that the sour tones soften quite a bit, while a honey-esque tone emerges. The flavors become more seamless with each subsequent infusion, and it becomes very soothing to drink… very comforting.

Additional notes: Sipdown! I think that might be the first time I get to say that. There was a bit left in a not-very-sealed package. Somehow this was completely different from the last cup. It was much more like a black tea instead of anything like asparagus. I actually forgot I thought it tasted like that, but the flavor is much more how I wanted it to be! Nice! It’s more sweet malty with a bit of cocoa this time. I have no idea why the flavor changed so much. Maybe because I had similar teas for the first time since I first tried this one? I’m going to miss this one! I’m uping the rating!

Thanks to TeaEqualsBliss for sending me this and so many other amazing teas! I’ll be writing tasting notes for a while for them! This one was odd to me, since it didn’t taste like a typical black tea. It had more of a vegetal flavor.. asparagus? Not in a bad way. The second steep somehow tasted more like the usual assam. Good stuff!

Oh man I love Hong Yue teas! I wish I could find them in more places

I soooooo don’t feel like working today….sigh…SOOOOOO ready for the weekend!

I had a cup of this yesterday as I was wrapping up my day before the commute and it was purely FAB. I didn’t have enough time to spend with it to jot down my notes so I am doing that now as I sip and then will pass the rest on to LiberTeas!

This is the 2nd time I have tasted this in two days and both times have literally said Ahhhh and WwowW outloud as I sipped. There is just something about certain teas that slap me on the forehead and say “I’m a damn good tea – now…DRINK!” THIS is one of THOSE teas!

Many of you know – I LOVE a good Alishan. This is not just good but AMAZING!

It’s clean, crisp, naturally flavorful, semi-sweet, semi-buttery, a hint of veg, slightly nutty, really creamy, even a little brothy. It has ALL the notes I was hoping for and more!

I REALLY LOVE THIS ONE!

So much so…I was going from 98 to 99 to 100 – Ah-HELL! I’m taking that extra step and adding it to my short list of 100’s!

Since I’m giving the rest of this to Liberteas…I’m going to do multiple infusions of what I have already infusing…Ahhhh! LOVE this!

Bonnie

Have a great weekend!

You too, Bonnie!!!!

I was unable to locate this one on their website but here’s my tasting notes anyways…

Smoky and charcoally…slightly nutty in aroma.

After infusing this smells and tastes like roasted peanuts over a campfire. It has that Charcoal, woodsy, nutty, sweet combo going on an all of those characteristics 25%-25%-25%-25% across the board. Equal parts from start to finish…not one taste-feature over powers the others. This is screaming multiple infusions, too!

A nice tea for camping – or just to get you thru the day!

Mellow sweet-woodsy and honey notes! This is a great quality Oriental Beauty Oolong! Very clean and lovely!

Another big thanks to TeaEqualsBliss for sending this one to me.

Oolong awesomeness! It starts off with a rustic burnt wood/charcoal-y kind of note, which soon softens somewhat to reveal a roasted nutty flavor. Once the strong notes subside I taste a fruit tone in the distance that is sweet and juicy and delectable. The finish is clean and dry, with hints of a deep roasted flavor in the aftertaste.

Very pleasant, one I’ll be taking for many wonderful infusions!

A wonderful milk Oolong, sweet, creamy and delicious. Very soothing on this snowy night (yes, I said snow). It’s cold outside (but very beautiful), but inside it’s warm while I curl up with this creamy, delicious tea. Loving it!

Kittenna

SO jealous that it’s snowy. What I’d give…

LiberTEAS

Well, if it’s any consolation, it didn’t last long… it’s almost all melted now. Here in this part of the Pacific Northwest snow rarely lasts very long.

Kittenna

That plus the fact that we had a wicked thunderstorm this evening complete with heavy rain and hail makes me feel much better :D I’m still sad about the lack of winter though. I bought new winter boots last year and wore them once this year. ONCE.

2nd infusion…
less mouth-watering, a little more charcoal, not as nutty. A little woodsy/earthy. Still pretty good!

I couldn’t find this on their website but I know it’s one of their newer teas so it could be they just haven’t released it yet.

It smells like almonds, almost, and a little florally. The taste on the tongue is lovely…juicy, creamy, nutty, almost milky. Tea base-wise it’s almost a cross between a non-grassy green and a nutty oolong.

This is a nice offering! Neat flavor!

I’m backlogging this one from yesterday but it’s quite memorable. I have said because that I am very choosy when it comes to Jasmine…either I hate it or it’s perfect for my palate…but to be perfect for my palate it needed to be something out-right awesome, I guess. After some contemplation while drinking this tea yesterday I have come to the conclusion that I think I have a “fickle-pickle” type of problem with Jasmine and Green Tea…perhaps it’s the new Earl Grey – every company seems to have one these days. BUT…I have found that I really enjoy Jasmine Oolongs. For my palate it seems to jive better with the oolong verses the green…or maybe it just impresses me more…not sure.

Regardless…

I really like this tea. I like the Jasmine with the oolong. It’s soothing, it’s smooth, it’s a bit sweet, not bitter floral at all…and I LOVE THAT. The quality of the oolong was FAB and the Jasmine worked hand-in-hand. VERY IMPRESSIVE Tea, here!

Two thumbs up!

This is an amazing rose oolong! Flavored and Scented perfectly! It’s not a stale or bitter rose taste bu t a little sweet…paired with this FAB Quality Oolong it’s near malty even! I had a cup hot and a cup cold and I find them both terrific!

Smooth, Sweet, Creamy, Vegetal…this is nice! I agree with the product description that this is complex! There are many morphing flavors here especially for a stand alone NON flavored tea! I can pick up on notes of charcoal and roasted lima beans…plus nuttiness, too! This is a really special oolong! I like it very much! Two thumbs up!

Serendipitea

My poor little brain is so confused lol ..

Vegetal & Charcoal, yet Sweet & Creamy = Totally Complex! scratches head :P

Anthony Bazic

Wow I really wants some, really brings out the fun out of drinking tea!

Thank you to TeaEqualsBliss for sending me some of this tea!

It is awesome! Definitely one of the very best black teas I’ve ever tasted. I think this may even be better than Dawn from Simple Leaf! It has some of the cocoa tones of Dawn, and it is incredibly rich. Sweet and bold. Malty. Incredible. YUM!

TeaBrat

sounds great!

LiberTEAS

It is… it appears that the only way it’s available is to purchase a Kilo of it… I’m thinking about buying the kilo after the holidays, and repackaging into 2 ounce packages to sell on Tea Trade……

ScottTeaMan

Or you could swap…:))….

ms.aineecbeland

Clever! I Heart Teas does the same, it is you yes? Keen Thyme tea was announcing specials form several re-packagers of tea and I Heart Teas was amongst those noted.

LiberTEAS

@ScottTeaMan: uh… no, not at the price I’d have to pay to get a Kilo.

ScottTeaMan

It is pricey, and up to you, of course, but You dont have to give it ALL away. :))

Roasted or toasted nutty flavor? A little bit of charcoal flavor. As it cools for a minute or two…it has a juicer finish…very interesting. Pretty tasty.

Retasting this…pretty good! I can pick up on how it resembles a mellower tasting black. The aftertaste is a little drier and woodsy. Tasty tho!

This is pretty good. I may have over infused a little bit but it was still tasty. The thing I like best about this is the aroma…the buttery and milky combo. The buttery flavor was lost in the taste but the milky was still there.

Gosh I LOVE this tea! I only have a very little bit left after this cuppa. The naturally cinnamony, chocolatey, notes are amazing! The malty-ness is RIGHT ON! YUM!
