Just what I needed to start my morning!
As always, I went a little heavy on the tea, & it was a bold & tasty cup!

I’m ending the day with this Rooibos blend. It’s nicely spiced, like a chai.

Another Sipdown! 205!
I’m not gonna go into a long description, because I’m tired & I should be practicing right now. Let’s just say this is delicious, ok?
Cuz right now, it is.

Sipdown!
This is a fairly tasty tea, even for a rooibos blend. I’ve had a achy gut all day (since I drank a certain green tea), & although I was hungry, most food was unappealing, & I also wanted one more cup of tea. So I made a big pile of Paleo (almond flour) pancakes, which I enjoyed with Maple syrup & this cup of tea. A nice end to my day, & I bet I’ll sleep like a rock too!

MsWhatsit

Sounds nice. I’m not sure I’ve tried any rooibos and peach blends…

Sil

wonder how this one compares to the one from lupicia…

Terri HarpLady

Seems like I like the Lupicia one too, but now I don’t really remember.

Sil

haha too many teas, hard to remember them all

Terri HarpLady

you can say that again!

Just came in from planting my 3 San Marzano Tomato plants & doing some weeding. My garden is gradually coming into shape. I have tons more weeding to do, tons more stuff to plant. More terracing to do, etc. So far I’m eating asparagus, kale, collards, onions, & lettuces. I had a few carrots too. I saw the radishes I planted last week starting to sprout, & in another week or so I’m sure things will be coming up like crazy everywhere! This evening I noticed some volunteer purple potatoes coming up, & the annual volunteer sunflowers that I love! I planted sunflowers once, years ago. I only grow them for the birds, especially the yellow finches who come. I’ve had sunflowers every year since. I always transpant them to grow along my back fence, because they get taller every year & I have to tie them to the fence for support!
My end of the day tea count is 223.
This tea? It’s ok. I’m gonna drink it in the bubble bath while reading the latest issue of ‘Organic Gardening’. The perfect end to a perfect day.

Sil

If I didn’t know better I’d say you we’re taking teas from your cupboard and dropping them in mine!

Terri HarpLady

you can never be sure ;)

Veronica

Your garden sounds amazing! I am excited to be eating the radishes, onions, and spinach from my little garden, but now I wish I had planted more. And tomatoes… yeesh… I haven’t even thought of planting tomatoes yet!

Terri HarpLady

Those 3 toms I planted yesterday are the best Italian heirlooms I’ve ever had! I slow roast & freeze them, & then enjoy them all winter. I also plant sun gold cherry toms, & a couple different heirloom slicers. I always plant way too much stuff! But it’s fun to share!

Tasty desert like tea for the end of the day :)

Admittedly, this was my least favorite of the three, which was unexpected, as I love ginger! The truth is, it wasn’t bad at all, it just wasn’t really all that gingery & was really kind of heavy on the nutmeg.

This Peach Melba was also quite good, with a juicy & bright flavor!

I’m happy to announce that my front porch rehab project is coming along nicely!
I’ve been slapping primer around for a week, in between other activities like gardening, students, food, & sleep, and today I put on the final coat of white paint, so now the ceiling & all the columns & hand rails are painted, except for the stair rail, which still needs more primer. Tomorrow I plan to do the accent color, which I’m very excited about (if you only knew how difficult it is for me to select colors, you’d be excited too). I’m also hoping to put down the first coat of primer on the floor.

I’m rewarding myself with 2 cups of yum & a hot bath. This is the first one, one of those rare rooibos that I actually like. A creamy dreamy lemony concoction, not particularly tart, but tasty & soothing like a sweet lemon pudding in a graham cracker crust.

Sil

this one! i can has a taste?

Terri HarpLady

We had it last year, and I will put some in your birthday box, cuz you’re a good girl :)

Sil

Weird….I had it already? Steepster ate my n ote then :(

Terri HarpLady

BTW, I ordered samples from whispering pines to share with you also :)

Enjoying a cup of this creamy mellow lemon tea.
The baseball game has deteriorated, IMO anyway. It is now tied 2 – 2 in the 8th…sigh…

What an awesome day! First off, I didn’t start teaching until 1:30, so I got a bunch of stuff done in my garden! I taught all afternoon, then went to the farmers market. There is a local chick making homemade coconut butter, & I love coconut butter. I usually get Artisana’s, but I think from now on I’ll be getting it from this gal. She has plain, but she also has naturally flavored ones, the lemon vanilla is heavenly…ahhh

Trail lodge tea, a local company, was also there today, so I stocked back up on this lemon rooibos, which is tasty, the peach Melba, & the ginger rooibos. I’ve been needing a few more non-caffeine teas for the evening, & this Lenin is especially nice.

gmathis

I think you told me once—but where is the farmers’ market you frequent? It sounds like a great place to spend an afternoon.

Terri HarpLady

There are several in St. Louis, but the one I like is on wednesdays from 4 – 7pm in the parking lot of the schlafly bottleworks restaurant & brewery. The close of a section of the parking lot & set up the market there. It’s 5 minutes from my house in Maplewood.

Terri HarpLady

Take a roadtrip to StL, GG, & we’ll hang out!

gmathis

Not sure when Life and All will allow that, but I would love to. It has been too long since we took off to have a Strictly Frivolous Day.

Sipdown! 206!
Yum! That’s all I can say.
I’m back to trying to cut out caffeine after 5 or so, & this is a lovely cup of Delicious.

For some reason tonight this is not as lemony as I want it to be. I think maybe my taste buds are still jaded from my sipdown competition with Sil.

Sil

hey don’t be blaming me!

Terri HarpLady

no blame! :)

Sil

i’m worried..i think i have mail to pick up tomorrow..which might be tea…

Terri HarpLady

LOL! BTW, I finally successfully paid for my order from TTC. I’m not sure what the problem was, but I swapped a few emails with guy & we worked it out.

One final cup this evening, something sans caffeine (cuz lets face it, I’ve had way too much caffeine today!).

This is a very nice creamy lemony tea from a local tea company. For more info about Trail Lodge Teas, here’s the link:

Tealizzy

I was looking at their website, and everything looks yummy. Not that I need another company to be tempted by! ;)

Terri HarpLady

The owner is really nice. I see her at the farmer’s market, & usually end up buying something.

Terri HarpLady

I’ve got this, the peach melba, black raspberry white, & a few others. Let me know if you’d like to try samples of them, I’d be glad to send them your way. :)

OK, it’s time to drink some tea that doesn’t have caffeine in it!
I think this may be my official favorite Rooibos blend. It’s lemony & tasty. What more can I ask for?

Sil

a pony? maybe 1,000,000$

Terri HarpLady

HA!
Not sure if I want a pony, but I’d definitely like the $$$ :D

Terri HarpLady

Sil, did I send you a sample of this one? I can’t remember if I had it yet when I sent your box.

Sil

uh….my cupboard says nope lol

Terri HarpLady

So…for our next trade… ;)

So today I discovered ‘Trail Lodge Tea’, a local company who was selling tea at the farmer’s market. Most of their ingredients are fair trade & organic, which is a plus!

This was the first one I chose to sample, & it was quite nice! It really reminded me of lemon pudding, both in the flavor & the smell, possibly with a graham cracker crust (but I might have imagined that).
I tried all 3 of the rooibos blends, & this was my favorite.

Yummy! I like that the base here is a combination of rooibos AND honeybush, because I like the way the two interact with one another. The honeybush seems to soften the sometimes harsher notes of the rooibos, and the result is a sweet, nutty tasting tisane that melds quite deliciously with the notes of chocolate and chili.

It’s got some fire to it, but, the heat builds gradually, and I never felt myself running for the faucet to extinguish the flames, you know? It’s warm, but not overpoweringly HOT. It’s yum!

Backlog:

The dry leaf is cute and whimsical with the shamrock candy sprinkles … although this is certainly not a buying point for me, because I’d just as soon the candy sprinkles not be part of a tea. I understand the philosophy behind it though, because a tea vendor wants the tea to be visually appealing. So this tea definitely has that.

However, this tea also has GREAT flavor. The black tea base is rich and malty and strong … vaguely resembling a good Irish Breakfast tea. But then there’s more to this … because there is a delightful Irish Cream flavor to it … sweet, creamy and just a hint of that liqueur flavor. I like that this is creamy enough to serve non-latte (without dairy) because I prefer not to add milk to my teas. This had a really lovely “latte” taste without the latte.

A really yummy tea – a great way to start the day! http://sororiteasisters.com/2013/03/25/connemara-morning-black-tea-blend-from-trail-lodge-tea/

Thank you to TeaEqualsBliss for sending me some of this tea. I liked this Black and green tea blend, and I really liked that it supported a chariTEA!

The fruit notes of this blend do not pop out immediately, but, after a few sips, the fruity qualities began to develop. The black tea is the most prominent flavor, and then I notice the green tea mostly in the body texture of the tea rather than the flavor … but there are certain notes in the flavor that are distinctly green too.

Overall, a very pleasant blend. Best when served iced! Here is my full-length review of it: http://sororiteasisters.com/2013/03/04/world-bird-sanctuary-tea-blend-from-trail-lodge-tea/

This tea smells so GOOD! Sweet and fruity!

And it tastes as good as it smells. Delicious strawberry notes that are both sweet and tart, with a luscious mango flavor that melds beautifully with the strawberry and the fresh taste of the green tea.

A really nice caffeine free blend. I find that I prefer blends with both rooibos and honeybush in them as opposed to pure rooibos. I like the way the two herbs compliment each other. The honeybush makes the rooibos taste better.

A delicious cherry almond flavor. Really tasty. Here is the full-length review: http://sororiteasisters.com/2013/02/02/cherry-and-almond-rooibos-from-trail-lodge-tea/

Thanks Liberteas

Lighter on the Pumpkin – especially on the front end of the sip and greater on the spice. Close to the end of the sip more pumpkin – same amount of spice – but more creamy.

My fave part is that everything tastes TRUE. Not artificial…not fake…nice spices and pumpkin.

Another reason I wanted to drink this one at the moment is because I was looking for something with clove in it and was unable to find any chai in my stash. This did the trick!

One question…

How on EARTH could I be low on CHAI?

Kittenna

I was thinking that too! Did you stash all the chais in one place that you can no longer remember? :P

drank Eggnog by Trail Lodge Tea
807 tasting notes

Full review on http://sororiteasisters.com/ on the 23rd but for now here are the snippits:

Eggnog from Trail Lodge Tea has a distinct aroma of spices and custard when steeped. From the visual aspect, white tea, is my favorite tea. The dry leaf is beautiful, downy, and whole.

There is a lacking in the sweetness for me personally, yet I did not try it with any added sugar, so I can’t say if that would have helped or not.

Overall this is a good eggnog blend and it does indeed taste like eggnog. Its creamy, and it has the right flavors with the spice and vanilla bean. I don’t know if this is one I would personally go right out and order, yet I would suggest if you enjoy this flavor profile to try some. I know Trail Lodge Teas has several other teas in their arsenal that I adore, so now and then I would probably add this to my cart before checking out.

drank Pumpkin Pie by Trail Lodge Tea

I agree with LiberTEAS this is a good pumpkin pie tea.
The tea is very present and the spices are really nice. I would also like a little more pumpkin but overall it is one of the better PP teas I have had :)

Indigobloom

I picked up a pumpkin tea with Raritea at the tea festival. Now I really want to try it…

Sil

I don’t remember seeing pumpkin tea….which company?

Indigobloom

I think it was Tea and All It’s Splendour.

Indigobloom

Raritea pointed it out to me. Smells soooo good
