Sipdown (337)!
Thanks VariaTea for this very strangely named tea. I decided to try it blindly, and these were my thoughts:
- Very buttery; dry leaf smells like movie theater butter in a bad way
- Steeped liquor is also very buttery, but in a more pleasant way
- Like a milk oolong??
- Both with the buttery/creamy element and because of the floral elements
- Of which there are many (floral elements)
- Has a soft fruity undertone; but it’s very mild
- Kind of raspberry(ish) I suppose?
I just looked it up for the first time and all I have to say is… MANGO!?
Yeah, definitely NOT mango. That doesn’t even remotely seem accurate. Even sipping on the last bit of the mug, now knowing that it’s supposed to taste like mango it still doesn’t taste like mango…
I don’t know; overall this wasn’t bad. It was weird though, for sure. I think regardless of whether it accurately conveys the fruit flavour it wants to, it’s just a little bit too buttery tasting for me to really get into it.

Thank you VariaTea for the sample! This one really had me curious; and I was really hoping I’d like it. Overall I just thought it was really plain, though. Not bad, totally drinkable but really underwhelming.
- Mostly very earthy Pu’erh
- With very subtle vanilla undertones to it
- Adding milk made it smoother, and a little more custardy
- And really thickened the mouthfeel as well
- However as “creme brulee” this was REALLY lacking

I cold brewed this and though the lemon is really strong, bordering on pledge but not quite so that it’s still enjoyable, it is actually the base that is throwing me off. I think the green tea has jasmine and when combined with lemon, it is almost bitter. Oh well.

I added all the teas from the package CuppaGeek sent me and I am back to 315 teas (well 314 now). Not too bad since it seemed like there was a lot more teas in the envelope. Instead it seems like there was larger quantities of fewer teas.
Cherry punch is a pretty accurate description. The coco part is okay though I think I could do without it since it is a touch lotiony and off. Luckily it is fleeting and only pops up now and again but it does distract from the cherry punch/kool aid type flavor.
Wow, does this tea ever go down smoothly. It is delicious cold and lives up to its name. Which I totally needed after a long day of working in the heat and then coming home to a non a/c house. I find that it tastes more like a herbal tea than green though.
This tea certainly packs a punch. Still reeling back from all the flavor explosion in my mouth. I can definitely taste the cherries and coconut in this one-I wasn’t sure if it would be a good combination, but it is and makes a good punch worthy beverage.

Thank you for the tea sample VariaTea! This one has such a strange name, there’s absolutely NO way I’d guess any of the ingredients based on the name alone. Is the idea that this is a somewhat savory/spiced tea and then in addition to that they’re playing on the thought that your ’mom’s cooking’ is this comforting thing? If so, I suppose I can SORT OF see that…
I will agree with the one other reviewer who’s tried this tea: there’s something about it that does remind me a lot of DAVIDsTEA’s Throat Rescue blend. More likely than not I think it’s just the generous use of licorice root and fennel though – it’s a REALLY strong flavour. Personally, I quite like the fennel part of it but the licorice root is kind of gross to me. Other than that, there’s some sweeter ginger notes that are pleasant enough; in particular they come through relatively clearly in the finish of the sip and after taste. It’s the licorice root sweetening them, and almost giving them a “candied ginger” quality but HINTS of something spicier are present in the aftertaste.
The best part of the blend is certainly the orange in it – in my opinion that’s what separates it from blends like Throat Rescue which are mostly sweet spiced herbals. This has a fruityness to it that’s really pleasant; the orange is just this gentle pop of vibrancy at the beginning of the sip, and then as some of the initial vibrancy fades it compliments the ginger and fennel really well. It was a wonderful presence in the sip!
I also ended up using the last third or so of the cup to dunk some soda bread in! My not boyfriend is Irish and very proud of his heritage, so he brought me some homemade Soda Bread because I’d never tried it before and apparently it’s super Irish or something like that? It was REALLY good/sweet but very dry, so the tea was a great compliment because it softened the otherwise dry mouthfeel and the orange and spice notes worked well with that sweet bread and great fruity/jammy quality from the mixed in fruits.
Yum yum!!!

Thank you to VariaTEA for the sample pouch of this in our tea trade! I can’t remember if I requested it or if you threw it in for me, but I found a new favourite here.
The chamomile is very fresh, and it has a fruity lemon taste that goes perfectly. I’m getting a bit of fruitiness from the hibiscus and orange. Holy moly! Hibiscus used in a way that actually enhances the blend? Props to TeaTaxi for actually crafting something unique that uses only a few simple ingredients and uses them very well. This is a great iced tea (except that the chamomile bits get through my finest strainer…but I don’t mind that too much).

I like watching dragon pearls steep but after that this becomes just another jasmine green tea. Neither green tea nor jasmine is a favorite of mine so I won’t be stocking this anytime soon though as far as jasmine green teas go, this one is quite mild. The green tea contributes no vegetalness or grass while the jasmine is floral and sweet without tasting like potpurri. It is okay but like I said, not a favorite.

The dry leaf of this last night when I set it up to cold brew smelled like my beloved Della Terra chiffon teas. However, despite not tasting like those teas, this does taste incredibly familiar. It took me a minute to place it but once I did there was no denying that this tasted like a honey lemon halls with less menthol. Don’t know if that’s good or bad tbh.
