Needed a nice strong malty tea tonight and this hit the spot! In the past, I would have added milk and sugar, but I’m loving this all on its own.

My house is a disaster and what do I do? I reorganize my tea cabinet.

Sil

Haha sounds like me! …..I could clean the house…..oooorrr go through my teas!

It’s nice to know I’m not alone :)

When I saw TeaFairy’s review, I realized I hadn’t posted anything on Raspberry Chocolate Bark, though I’ve had it on the shelf for a few months. Since TeaFairy did a great job of describing it, I can’t add much more. I’ve tried several Teajo flavored black teas, and the fact that their single estate Assam base is good and is not overwhelmed by the flavors makes for a great cup of tea. Chocolate and raspberry go hand in hand beautifully in desserts, and the same goes for this tea, making it a very satisfying dessert tea. I’ve found that their teas are excellent hot or cold. You can get 10 cup samples for $2.95, giving the opportunity to trying several flavors. Their teas are organic as well.

Donna, you are right about hot or cold:-) When I have my pot of tea at night, if I’m trying a new tea, I always keep some for the next morning to see how it compares as an iced tea. This one was delicious, more raspberry emerged. It will be interesting to try a cold brew eventually. I’m thinking it will turn out more fruity and less chocolaty that way. I’m also liking their Lemon ginger Sencha, so refreshing as an iced tea!

Indigobloom

organic… that is great!! this sounds really tasty

teajoteas

This seems to be a trend with many of our Assam based teas, that the flavoring really comes out when you ice it. The tea itself has a bold flavor whether iced or hot, but anything added gets emphasized when chilled.

GiggleGoddess

@teajoteas I’ll have to keep this in mind when I place an order to try it chilled. I’ve only been doing hot tea lately.

A nice change from the many flavored teas I’ve been drinking lately. I don’t have much experience with white tea, but this has a nice crisp light flavor. I’m really struggling to define the taste, but I really like it. I’ll update if I can find a way to be more articulate :)

The tea itself is a little bitter, but so is dark chocolate, so I think it works. I added milk and a bit of sugar and it is delicious. I always find hot chocolate sickeningly sweet, so this is a fantastic alternative for nights when you want something sweet and chocolate-y or days when you need a pick-me-up.

I love chocolate, especially in the form of a dark chocolate piece of candy, but I haven’t been that impressed with the few chocolate teas I’ve tried. Since Teajo offers well priced generous samples, I included this one in my order. I’m glad I did. The sample is enough for 10-12 cups, allowing me to experiment. I prepared this in several ways, and it was great in each case. I had it straight and then with sweetener. Then I made it double strength, added sweetener and a splash of 1/2 and 1/2 and used my frother to make a warm latte. Not quite as satisfying as a piece of chocolate, but really quite good. I haven’t been disappointed by Teajo so far-the quality and service have been excellent. I would like to see them offer a few more unflavored Indian black teas as well-they have only one at this time, and it is good, but I love to try new black teas and have not had much experience with Indian teas.

Really appreciate the feedback on the teas and will probably be adding more unflavored, which seems to be quite popular with many tea drinkers.

Second time with this delicious chai. A really satisfying blend. I like it as a warm latte, frothed with an oz or 2 of milk and some sweetener (I use stevia). I need to get some more of this! I like it that you can purchase Teajo samples and they are generous -about 10 cups in a packet I would say.

Claire

I didn’t know their sample sizes were so large, good to know, thanks Donna!

Donna A

Yes, I ordered several samples from them and each gives you 10-12 cups.

This is a really nice Chai. The first time, I made it with a teaspoon of tea and steeped it for 3 min in water at the boil. The black tea base that they use for their tea is nice and never bitter. The spices are not overdone. It is well balanced and on the milder side, but flavorful. Next, I made it double strength, and not having any milk, I added a splash of 1/2 and 1/2. I really like it this way. I appreciate that I could get a great cup of Chai without going to the trouble of preparing it on the stove in the traditional way. Teajo now offers samples for sale which give you about 10-12 cups per sample. I ordered 6 different tea samples from them and have been happy with all of them. I like the generous sample size because I can experiment a little and try it more than once before deciding whether to buy more.

Thanks to Teajo for a very generous sample of this!

Well, it looks like it’s going to be a ginger day for me and my teas. This is a nice solid green, but unfortuntately I’m getting a little more lemon here than ginger. The green base is smooth, though, and is not at all vegetal. It would be great for someone who likes green tea but is turned off by the REALLY green teas like gyokuru.

Overall not a bad flavored green. Nice, mellow, and great for lemon lovers.

This has a good apricot flavor. There is a background flavor of vanilla as well. A nice base that goes well with the flavor.

There is something a bit “off” about this, though. I really can’t place what it is. I’m glad Teajo is offering samples now – and their customer service and shipping speed just rock.

Glad I tried this and I will share it around but I think I probably don’t need a whole package of it. So far Harney has my favorite apricot.

Would you believe that is one Harney tea I have not tried? I am putting together a list of Harney teas to order when I lift my ban. That may go on it! Has anyone tried it iced?

Harneys is great iced! Perhaps I’ll try Teajo iced…

Today after cleaning my Breville it turned out so shiny and new I wanted to try something a little different. Something I’ve never quite tried before…Fiesta Fusion seemed like the perfect candidate. I’ve never had a black/green blend before. When I ripped open the package it smelled very fruity. I was amazed by how much tea was in this sample thank you so much Teajo Teas!

I love the color of this tea! Or maybe I was just so happy watching my shiny like-new Breville go to work, but either way I really enjoyed watching this brew. It smells deliciously fruity. I would agree that this is more black than green, but I’m guessing that’s because black is more overpowering than green. The blending here is really well done. It’s got a nice black aspect that I love but without any astringency at all and the green gives it a bit of a grassy aspect, but in a way that is not bitter. This tea is absolutely smooth. There is a nice fruity tone in the background that adds a really beautiful sweetness.

I really do like this one. If you’re looking for something a little different, try this!

This is a really authentic Chai tea that tastes just like the stuff I drank in India. It doesn’t have all those other artificial additives that Starbucks and other companies add. It’s got a bit of a spicy taste to it as it has pepper, cardamom, etc. It tastes really good with milk.

I don’t normally drink black tea except occasionally when I have it with milk, and it’s always bagged tea. After drinking this sample, I was really impressed as it tasted and smelled a lot better than the bagged ones I’ve tried before. There was no bitterness or astringency, and the dry tea leaves had a really floral, musky aroma that was reminiscent of raisins. At 2 oz for 8 bucks it’s a really good deal for a tea of this quality. What’s nice is that they source directly from the farmer as well.

Thanks to Teajo Teas for a sample of this tea!

Yikes, it’s been a while since I was last on Steepster! Midterm exams and papers have been pretty intense over the past few weeks.

Anyway, this is a very nice tea with a definite peach-y flavour. Unfortunately, I don’t seem to be tasting very much ginger, but that likely could have been because I had just finished making some ginger ale and was expecting a strong ginger taste. No astringency, slight maltiness.

Overall, this is a very nice tea that makes me want to curl up with a book and think of summer.

A review of Ginger Peach Tea (Single Estate Indian Black) by Teajo Teas

Date: 10/31/2012
Company: Teajo Teas
Tea Name: Ginger Peach Tea
Tea Type/Varietal: Black
Region: Northern India
Steeping Vessel/Amt. Leaf: Cup/ loose leaves
Plucking Season:
Liquor Color: dark amber
Leaf Characteristics:

Steepings I had enjoyed this tea several weeks earlier and I am selecting to try it once more. And I have had several good steep of this tea. It is lovely caramel in coloring still.

1st Steeping:
Water temperature: 200 Fahrenheit
Time: 3 minutes

Note: I take one teaspoon of this tea and put it in my mug and fill the mug with boiling water and leaving it to steep for a few minutes. I like the gingerly smell that is present, floating around me in the air. I can tell already that I will enjoy this cup best. I remove the tea leaves from my cup in strainer and simply look at tea’s coloring and it is so rich and smooth looking, making me want to sip and sip. Doing just that; I sip once and again until it is all gone. I added nothing to this tea; just water and the leave with mixture of ginger and peach. This tea is satisfying enough to drink as made simply.

When tasted, you are met with the ginger which is spicy and zest like but not of orange and the peach just seems to enhance the flavoring all the more. It is creamy, smooth texture and full bodied with some zest in the cup by way of the ginger bits.

I would not purchase this tea since I am not a black tea drinker by choice/trade. I would recommend it and suiting those favoring their teas with milk or cream/sugar.

Thank you Teajo Teas for allowing me to experience their teas; as it has been like and dislike to be remedied by another, perhaps.

A review of Ginger Peach Tea (Single Estate Indian Black) by Teajo Teas

Date: 10/03/2012
Company: Teajo Teas
Tea Name: Ginger Peach Tea
Tea Type/Varietal: Black
Region: Northern India
Steeping Vessel/Amt. Leaf: Cup/ loose leaves
Plucking Season:
Liquor Color: dark amber
Leaf Characteristics: The leaves are small and crinkly with minutes bits of orange peels, tea flowers and some rose petals. When steeps tea leaves are bit fuller being that they are finely cut.

Steepings I was able to have a few good steeps with this tea. Color is loveliest with 1st steep; 2nd and 3rd steep is slightly lighter. I like the color because it is like liquid caramel or fine whiskey.

1st Steeping:
Water temperature: 190 Fahrenheit
Time: 3 minutes

Note: One spoonful of tea leaves into my mug and once the water started boiling I pour some of it into my cup with strainer, covering it and left to steep for few minutes. I can smell the ginger and orange peels straight away and it is a pleasant smell.

After the set time, I remove the strainer with the leaves in it from my cup to take in the color and aroma. Tea’s color is lovely amber and smells of the orange peels at first and when tasted there is the slight (piquant) sting of the ginger and more of the floral aroma is rising from the cup.

Tea is a strong malty cup of ginger peach.

2nd Steeping:
Water temperature: 200 Fahrenheit
Time: 3 minutes

Note: I had the water boiling a bit more before adding it over the leaves and into my cup. Tea is similar just hotter as I tend to like my cup of tea; very hot and this makes the ginger bit more noticeable.

I am not a black tea drinker but I like the tea’s color very much. It really is like caramel and malty in the brew. I am not trying to over state anything.

Thank you Teajo Teas for sending these samples my way. I happy to be a tea reviewer as it gives me a sense of purpose; something to be doing. Mind you I am always busy many activities; it is just that nothing I do pays; this tea’s color was worth the experience of brewing this cup.

Thanks to Teajo for the generous sample!

I don’t normally drink too many black/green tea blends. I’ve found they can be finicky and hard to manage. But, when I got the opportunity to try a tea from Teajo, it jumped out at me so I thought I would give it a go. The tea has a very pleasant smell to it, and you can definitely smell the orange peel.

The brewing parameters are all of over the place for the tea. Apparently you can use anywhere from 180-212 F degree water? That’s a pretty big range. I’ve always been told to brew a blend at the most delicate level – so since greens are more delicate than black, brew it like a green.

Once brewed, this definitely tastes more like a black than a green. I imagine people who are a fan of “breakfast” blends or Assam would be a fan of this as well. It’s not quite as astringent as a breakfast blend would be, which makes it more appealing (I’m such a wimp when it comes to bitterness). The flavors are very light on this.

This is definitely a more unique tea and not bad.

I was like you Rachel I wasn’t very attracted by black/green blends because I found them difficult to brew properly. I found Prince Igor of Mariage Frères and I really changed my mind. I’ll try this one if I can

Hmm.. I’ll have to check that one too. Thanks for the rec.

drank Very Raspberry by Teajo Teas

I had this as an iced tea, and it was outstanding. The raspberry in this tea is so well done that it taste like a mix of juice and tea. It was sweet and smooth. Never before have I had an iced tea where the word smooth came to mind! Crisp, yes. Refreshing, sure. But deliciously smooth? Not until today. The funny thing is I’m not usually a huge raspberry fan. I am, however, a fan of this tea.

I received this sample from teajo teas. Thank you!

If you like raspberry you will like this tea. Teajo does a wonderful job creating fruit flavored teas that actually taste like the fruit they’re supposed to taste like. This tea doesn’t taste like raspberry syrup or raspberry Kool Aid or raspberry candy. It taste like raspberry. And tea. I don’t know what tea base Teajo uses, but it’s good!

I drank one cup of this plain and one cup with sugar. Both cups were enjoyable. I liked the tartness of the tea when it’s plain, but a little sugar really brings out the fruit flavor.

My daughter will be home from school in a few minutes, and I’m looking forward to sharing this tea with her. It seems like something that would be right up her alley. :)

A review of Refreshing Orange Tea (Single Estate Indian Black Tea) by Teajo Teas

Date: 10/31/2012
Company: Teajo Teas
Tea Name: Single estate Indian black tea
Tea Type/Varietal: Black
Region: Northern India
Steeping Vessel/Amt. Leaf: cup/ leaf
Plucking Season:
Liquor Color: Reddish orange
Leaf Characteristics:

1st Steeping: just one steep with water temperature at 200 and steeped for 3 minutes.
Water temperature: 200 Fahrenheit
I have decided to fix myself of a cup of Teajo’s Refreshing Orange (Single Estate Indian) Black Tea. I brew myself a cup of this firstly this morning and I am sorry to say although the tea’s color is lovely reddish orange color and tea’s aroma is that of orange peels and a hint of bergamot perhaps. Something about this tea reminds me of some of the Upton Teas I tried a while back. This tea is similarly with an after taste that is similarly to the Scented Darjeeling by Upton Tea and most specific is their English Early Grey Tea by Upton Teas; this taste lingers and is found in the aroma as well and I don’t like it. It is worse than bitter.

I am sorry but I cannot justify liking this tea. I simply cannot. It is not refreshing which to me means clean and fresh like a green tea.

A review of Refreshing Orange Tea (Single Estate Indian Black Tea) by Teajo Teas

Date: 10/01/2012
Company: Teajo Teas
Tea Name: Single estate Indian black tea
Tea Type/Varietal: Black
Region: Northern India
Steeping Vessel/Amt. Leaf: cup/ leaf
Plucking Season:
Liquor Color: Reddish orange
Leaf Characteristics: The dry leaves are very finely curled with the bits of orange peel/ gojiberries mingling for a floral scenting aroma. When steeped, tea leaves are fuller in bits and the berries and bits of orange peels are more noticeable, with the orange peels more heavy in scented oils.

Steepings 2 good steeps with 2nd steep being better than first steep.

1st Steeping:
Water temperature: 200 Fahrenheit
Time: 5 minutes

Note: I wanted to experience this tea to its fullest so I decided for the first steep to be brewed longer. I let the tap water boiled for a good five minutes until fully boiling and left it to cool down, with less steam. I place one teaspoon of the tea in my tea strainer and put this over my tea mug and then added the hot water over the strainer and into my cup. Tea seems to color at one, that brownish/orange glow and the smell of the orange peels permeating around me.

I let the strainer sit in the water for a few minutes more so that tea color is darker and stronger. I remove the strainer and put this aside and take my tea to have a sip. At first tea is bitter, not because of the orange peels but just tasting heavily astringent; It is a heavy –bodied tea, fullness since it leaves quite a lingering after taste when swallowed.

For this first steep I am not finding anything to like about this tea, I think I let it sit to long with the leaves in it.

2nd Steeping:
Water temperature: 190 Fahrenheit
Time: 3 minutes

Note: Since my first experience with this tea is not as good, I am having tea again with lower water temperature and steep only for a few minutes. Tea’s color is a pale orange color with slight orangery/berries aroma; it is a citrus aroma that I am finally getting which I did not get with the first steep. Tea was to heavy, over cooked perhaps.

I find I like this second cup much better and I can see warming the water for another cup with the same leaves. I don’t wish to add anything to this tea, just to have it plainly and a bit hotter. Water temperature can be at 200 Farenheit and to steep it for lesser time makes for a better cup of tea.

Overall, tea has a bright lovely coloring that peeks out at you with the orange peels and goojiberries intermingling in the air while adding layers to the teas texture. Tea’s characteristic is its bright color and full-bodied effect upon tasting of the tea.

Thank you Teajo Teas for this sample!

This is a lovely tea. The peach flavor is nice. It is strong, but natural. In fact, this is the first peach tea I’ve had that didn’t have an artificial taste to it, and I’m really enjoying it. The base tea is wonderful. It has a smoothness that almost makes the tea creamy. Almost. This is a tea that’s easy to enjoy sans sweetener, but I think a bit of honey might turn this into a treat in a cup. I’ll have to give it a try… you know… for science.

KeenTeaThyme

I love – and will try! – any peach tea. Adding this to my list… :)

This smelled of malt and hay when I opened the package.

From the description of “full leaf” and “whole leaf” I had expected a bit more unfurling of large leaves but they pretty much stayed the same size they were when dry. That’s okay though. Possibly just me not understanding what a full leaf tea should be.

This tastes like it smells. Malty and faintly of hay. A nice, standard golden reddish brown liquid. It is a bold and basic black tea. Hearty and full bodied, I’m certain it would stand up well to milk and sugar if one desired such. Smooth and with a hint of dryness at the end of the sip.
