Thank you IrishBreakfastLass! I was so excited when I learned I was getting this in the swap! The ingredients made it sound so interesting. This reminds me of coffee. It’s warm and slightly sweet. I agree that it would make a fantastic coffee replacement. Thank you again!! :]

This is a nice one. It’s not too strong, no astringency really. A sweet, slightly fruity note, full-bodied. Not one of my favorites, since it’s pretty middle of the road black tea nothing special, but a good stand-by.

This stuff was good. It seems to be Chado’s answer to Mariage Frère’s Marco Polo. They aren’t quite the same, but it’s the same sort of notes.

I’m getting sick, and so this tea comes out in my search for something, anything, to help with my throat! I remember exactly why I love this tea when I open the packet, and I can barely wait as I’m putting on the kettle and then subsequently waiting for the steep. I got a little sidetracked after putting it in to steep though, and left it probably 10 minutes or so. Even with such a long steep, it’s wonderful! The strong citrus smell is almost exactly what you taste when you sip it. And all that vitamin C will surely help with fighting off whatever this is I’ve got. Also, the Chado website suggests that it will help with depression and chronic headaches. I’m hoping it will get me out this funk I’m in, regardless.

Backlog from last night! I had been neglecting some of the teas in my cupboard, and this was one of them. I totally forgot how wonderfully lemony and sweet this one was. It’s delicious, and totally what I think of when I think of lemon tea. I like to put a bit of sugar, and it transforms this into a kind of lemony dessert, like lemon meringue pie or lemon candies. Yummy!

After already trying several other rooibos and really only caring for the chai one, I was skeptical about trying this one. But I needed a no-caff tea for the evening, and didn’t want to use up the last bit of my sample of rooibos chai from Upton. So out came this very generous sample. This tea smells absolutely gorgeous(can a smell be gorgeous?)! It is a strong citrus, but not the candy kind, more of the peel- that nice bitter acidic smell. I cannot smell any rooibos in this one at all at first. Steeping, I start to smell the rooibos, and now I’m a little worried that it won’t taste as great as it smells, but I leave it for the time prescribed(7 minutes) and return when the timer goes off. The first sip is definitely rooibos-like, but the more I drink, the less rooibos I get, and the more citrus there is. It’s wonderful. I put in a couple of sugar cubes to see if I could brighten it up a little, and it works wonders. I really like this one! This one could be a candidate in my night-time line up for sure. It’s definitely helping with this sore/scratchy throat- lemon is one of my go-to flavors when I’m sick, and they aren’t joking about the high lemon content in this one. It’s very nice. No sourness that I can find(before the sugar of course, and certainly none after). It’s overall a pretty good cup! And it’s a rooibos, which is a bonus for me! This one is going on the Chado shopping list too, it looks like!

I got this sample in yesterday, and I could smell it before I even opened the box! It’s a very sweet fragrance, and it smells exactly the same when brewing. The taste, with no additives, is heavy and complex. I taste the rose, maybe a bit of vanilla, but I think I’m mostly getting the passion fruit flavoring and the rose. There is no bitterness, and very little astringency, if any. It’s ok, but not something I’d seek out. The rose is a bit off-putting for me, and combined with the strong scent, it’s just not my thing. It’s quite possible that the addition of sugar could save it, though.

A spot of sugar does seem to lighten it up a bit, but I think it brings out the rose even more. I am getting a touch of black tea now, though. I think this must be one of those things where you either love it or you don’t. I may try it again, but I’m definitely not loving it right now.

Upon opening the packet, the first scent that hits me is… Thin Mints? I dunno, I’m getting a chocolaty minty scent. And when I pour the water over the tea, I get a scent of rice. Just plain rice.

First taste, plain- I’m getting a bit of astringency, but it’s a nice, full-mouth, stout flavor. I always take my chai with milk and sugar, so…
Hmmm… I’m getting less chai, more black tea…. the addition of another sugar cube or 2 really brings out the subtitles of this tea. No more minty scent, only a lovely, soft vanilla fullness. Pretty good, though not quite what I expected. Still a lovely cuppa!

Sadly, I just don’t think this tea is for me. I love the idea of this tea, and the ingredients sound so good, but it just doesn’t translate for me. It smells like hay or tobacco, and tastes about the same. Just not my thing. I want to like it, really, but I just couldn’t finish the cup.

drank Coconut Vanilla Black by Chado

The first thing I noticed about this tea was that it was it was CTC. I have not seen flavored blacks that were CTC before. Not that I mind, but it was odd for me, as I’m used to seeing full leaf. The smell of the dry leaf was pleasantly coconut.

Now the taste. I have this feeling that 52teas coconut cream pie, being so amazingly delicious as it is, has spoiled me for other coconut teas. I can’t help but compare, and they all fall short.

This tea is nice. The coconut is prominent, the vanilla a nice companion. All in all quite a pleasant tea, just not so memorable as to be purchased again.

I absolutely love this tea with milk and sugar, better with palm sugar… I was scared about chai, I’ve had chai that had been too spicy to drink down it burned my throat, so I was glad that this was the perfect spice for me.. and the coconut really comes out and compliments this chai tea.. ohh, I’m buying more of this!! It’s not a bad price neither!!

I didn’t get this tea from this particular company, but it’s the same name and description, and it looks like the other tea place doesn’t carry it anymore. Anyway, as mentioned by the first reviewer, you really need a fine sieve or a teabag because this tea has a fine milled quality. It’s a nice vanilla tea. I have mine with condensed milk or milk/honey. I’ve also used it in a granola recipe. All around good tea.

I bought a bunch of different smokey teas from Chado in an attempt to find something as good as A&D’s Caravan. (My roommate and I totally depleted that one). This one is definitely my roommate’s favorite of the bunch, probably because of the earl grey. I prefer this one straight (as I do with most of my smokey teas), although I did try it with milk and it was pretty good as well.

Happy New Year everyone! This year I wil aim to log my teas more regularly starting tonight with an “evening blend” tea from Chado. You can barely taste the rose petals, this one just tastes like a mild blended black tea – no particular strong flavors. It still makes a decent pot of tea, which I’m enjoying with a bit of milk.

Another Tea courtesy of LiberTEAs!!!! :)

I’m typing as I infuse and think…so…here goes…

Dry…

I smell Earl Grey…no, I smell Gunpowder…no, I smell bergamot, no…I smell mint…oh my…I smell it all!

This infuses VERY dark for a green! It smells very masculine, too.

BUT the taste…

It’s a lighter gunpowder taste and the mint is pleasant but not overdone in the slightest. The bergamot helps even many of these factors out, I think. I wouldn’t say it tastes like Earl Grey but I would encourage those who aren’t sure about Gunpowders to give this a whirl.

This is very interesting, more complex that many, and a down-right nifty cuppa!

Thanks to LiberTEAS for this one! It’s Friday and I want some RUM…so…since I am at work I will have to settle for this! LOL

I agree with LiberTEAS – I cannot see a single Chocolate Chip. I am getting a slight rum comparison to the nose but not overly. I really smell the stereotypical Rooibos scent tho. Once infused I can smell a SMALL Chocolate smell as even smaller amount of rum-like aroma. The Rooibos isn’t as aromatic as before infusing but it’s still the scent I pick up the most on while sniffing.

The taste is more flavorful overall than I assumed it would be. The Rum and Rooibos blend together pretty well…they are both subtle flavors tho. The chocolate isn’t very chocolaty but it’s a nice touch! This is ‘ok’
