10 Tasting Notes
My first high quality tea. Mild flavor with mild astringency. Dark floral smell with slight bitterness. Tastes like green tea. Medium chaqi. Earlier brews have neutral to no flavor. Mid brews contain a consistent encompassing astringency with almost no biterness. Wet leaves smell fruity. 8 brews before it begins to weaken, after the 10th I got a headache!
Overall a great tea, but after only 2 months of storage brews went from a bright purple to a dark green. I am sure the tea has spoiled!
Preparation
cake has an earthy smell
deep yellow slight orange brew
lid smells vegetal
tea is slightly vegetal with a little astringent/bitter kick
later brews around 4 get more bitter and astringent
Flavors: Astringent, Bitter, Vegetal
Preparation
The steamy hot leaves smell like artichoke! Strongest note I taste is vegetal. Maybe next time I brew It will be better
Flavors: Artichoke
Preparation
standard puer hay like taste is in the background, prominent pine + light astringent flavor. The lid has a very heavy puer-hay smell. A deep amber soup. Not sure if it’s longer brews, or later brews, but a bitterness and almost tongue numbing astringency come out. strong cha qi. After maybe the 6th or 7th brew it still has color, but all flavor has gone away. I think drinking these brews might have given a slight headache.
Flavors: Astringent, Grass, Pine
Preparation
My first puer, very strange taste to me! Lid has a very strong pine scent , and hot tea smells of wet hay. Cool tea is mostly hay/yeast with a hint of pine. Letting the tea cool brings out more pine taste. No astringency or bitterness. I can see why this was so affordable for such an aged tea.
Flavors: Hot Hay, Mineral, Pine, Yeast
