I bought a pack of 4 flowering teas from eBay, and they arrived today. However, there are no labels on them and the listing doesn’t tell me what I’m getting, it was very much a lucky dip.

Myself and my daughter loved watching the flower unfurl first of all, a real spectacle and a great way to get your kids interested if you should so desire.

Taste-wise, I had no idea what I was about to be drinking, so i had to hope to be lucky. And I was. It’s a lovely Jasmine tea, very floral fragrance but with a really nice toffee undertone that I’ve never experienced before. I assume that’s from the flowers.

Like I say, I can’t actually tell you what maker this comes from but the eBay store is called the Lily and Lucy Store, and although it’s pretty cheap this tea is rather lovely.

So, just stuck the kettle on to make a pot of this. The smell of the leaves and ‘added bits’ is lovely, very chocolatey and rich.

Oh my, that is deceivingly lovely. When I’m sipping it there isn’t much taste on my lips and the tip of my tongue, but it hits you at the back of the throat. And it tastes like cake. I love cake.

I thought because this tea had a recommended longer steep time than I’m used to, that there might be an underlying bitterness. But it’s so lovely and sweet, although not in an overpowering, sickly way. The smell is glorious, in fact as much as I like the taste I think the smell is my favourite thing about this tea.

I got this tea as a bonus extra in a swap from KittyLovesTea. I’m so glad she put it in, because it’s probably not one I would have ordered myself, but it was really rather lovely.

The colour was very striking, a really deep red colour. It was sweet without being sickly, and the aroma was lovely. I polished off the pot pretty quickly.

2nd steep of ten minutes, the colour had faded to a pinky colour now, but it still had a very pleasant aroma and enough taste to make it a worthwhile drink.

I have been drinking this all day today. 3 pots, I think it’s getting nicer with each steep.

This tea was a present from my wife, and as I am always looking for more ways to relax I was really looking forward to it. But it’s not really for me.

The peppermint is really strong, which is nice if that’s what you’re after, but if I want a peppermint tea that’s what I’ll brew up.

It’s not horrible by any means, I just think that if a tea calls itself ‘Chill Out’, I should be of a mental state akin to Bob Dylan (who is constantly chillin, I am reliably informed) by the end of it.

I got this tea from my wife for our 4th anniversary, along with the teapot and teacup that started me on this adventure in the massive world of tea.

It’s a nice drink, but it is very easy to over steep it and it becomes quite bitter pretty quickly. I do love the smell, but the taste doesn’t quite live up to it. Still, an enjoyable occasional cup.

This is the first Oolong I’ve tried since discovering the wonders of tea relatively recently. If they’re all as nice as this, I’ll be a happy man.

The blurb from Green Mountain is pretty much spot on, it’s a very smooth tea to drink with sweet notes, although not overpoweringly so.

Just finished drinking my first pot, and I can’t see the 50g I bought lasting long. I will be back for more .
