Relaxing location inside the Portland Classical Chinese Garden. Offers the full menu of Tao of Tea selections along with snack options including Tea Eggs, Hum Bao, and Lychee.
Tea’s are served in a variety of ways including gaiwan, gongfu ceremony, yixing and more. Sometimes the teahouse offers live classical chinese music, and garden events can be observed from the second story.
I get Townshend mixed up with Tea Chai Te a lot. They’re super similar. This is a comfortable tea lounge with a good selection of teas and bubble tea. It’s a good place to come to sit and chat with a friend or two, or to read a book.
This is a tea TASTING room, not a tea room. You’re visit will consist of looking over the selection of teas the merchant offers, and then tasting whatever you like. They’ll brew you up a small cup of anything they have on display. Don’t be shy, I think I drank two full pots of tea with all the tasting I did. I felt a little guilty because I didn’t end up liking their tea much. But I did purchase one before leaving, and a couple of tea doodads. Certainly worth a visit. The service here is outstanding and it’s a nice shop with a neat method.
I LOVE this tea room. This is where you want to go for High Tea in the Portland area. They change up their offerings to suit the seasons. I found the High Tea to be a little heavy on the sweets side, I would have liked more savories. They have plenty of food to offer aside from the high tea, and I found their food delicious. Their tea menu is relatively small, about what you’d expect from an English tea-room. I thought it was well served though and enjoyed mine for sure.
They are closing on 1/31/13. They stopped serving tea in December I’m afraid. Although their antiques are half off until they close. I picked up a new tea-cup while I was there. They have a bunch of them and teapots too.
This tea room is a must visit if you haven’t ever been. That said, it’s not my favorite tea room. I don’t find the snacks appetizing and despite their tea list being moderately sizes, I always feel limited and have a difficult time selecting something. It is a nice tea room though, and they have a teashop next door that is nice too.
I come here for the Bubble tea but their regular tea menu has a fabulous variety. They serve a selection of hot bubble tea flavors. If you’ve never had hot bubble tea, you’re missing out. I find their tea menu easy to navigate and really appreciate the descriptions they provide for each blend.
I love this tea room. It is part of a Brittish store. They serve High Tea as well as Afternoon Tea offerings, and other Brittish tea snacks. My favorites are the cheese toasties and and wrapped sausage. It’s so cozy and cute and the ladies who serve are very nice.
