694 Tasting Notes
I received this in a swap from hapatite. Thank you. I have been quite delayed in getting through some of the samples I received back in Janurary/Feburary. I am glad I am finally getting around to a few of these.
I was so excited to first try another Lupicia tea and then such a rare collection. hapatite was so generous to send me 3 samples from the limited Hawaii collection. This was the first one I tried. I really really wanted to like this one. This for me just didn’t have the right mix. The base was very astringent and the vanilla and fruit didn’t shine through much for me. It might have been the way I brewed this, but this is a no for me.
Preparation
I received a sample of this from bluebelle in our swap. Thank you!
I love Mango Lassi. We walk into my favorite Indian restaurant in town and I immediately order one of these wonderful drinks. I might have had it in my head that this was going to be as thick and juicy as that drink. This wasn’t for me. I can taste the chamomile and the mango/creaminess that I was anticipating wasn’t there. I am glad I got to try this one, but it is not for me.
Preparation
This is from the December 2013 Steepster Select Box.
As I am trying my best to clean up all my samples I am finding I have a lot of teas in my cupboard that I don’t have logged in my Steepster cupboard. I remember trying this one in December and not being a huge fan of it, but not knowing what to write about it. I am drinking this from the gaiwan tonight. I am still not a huge fan. I see the tobacco, earthy taste. I also get a bit of fruity tart at the end of the sweet. No hint of sweetness for me. This is good, but I am not crazy about it.
Enjoying the last few perls of this tea from boychik. Thanks again for including this one. I am using the new gaiwan this time. I am enjoying this a bit more than the last time. Blame it on the gaiwan or my mood I am not sure. I do notice with the gaiwan I can control the steep a bit better and tweak the boldness of the brew based on the previous cup.
I am still getting a very dark, unsweetened chocolate flavor out of this one. This tea perplexes me and makes me wonder about the differences in everyone’s palates. This to me is not sweet at all. So it is interesting that folks mention getting sweet. I am curious to see how this compares to other Dragon Pearls as well.
This was one of the first “loose leaf teas” I ever purchased. I had about a 1/2 oz left just sitting around. I made the rest up for a BBQ tonight as an iced tea. It taste light and fruity with no hibiscus. This sorta flavor seems to be pretty rare in herbals without the hibiscus. This stuff was way to expensive for what it was, but it was a good ice tea for the occasion.
Preparation
I received this in the box of DAVID’s teas I bought off of TeaPet. Thank you.
I will first state coconut and tea and I aren’t getting along well. I keep trying it and I keep not being a fan. I do like coconut so I am not sure why it just hasn’t been working with me in tea. This one smelled good. It smelled like a beach cocktail. The taste had a weird funk in the aftertaste that I am blaming on the coconut. I am glad I got to try this, but another one that is just not my cup of tea.
Preparation
I received a sample of this in the sample pack that Just Organic sent out. Thank you!
Straight vanilla flavored teas and I haven’t been getting along too well. I want more, and I think the combination of the two, tea and vanilla, may not be meant to be for me despite how lovely it sounds. This however, was probably one of the best vanilla teas I have had. I would like a little more out of the base of the tea, but the vanilla was a well rounded flavor that seemed to compliment the tea. If I would have been at home I might have added milk to this to see what happened. I could taste the base, I got a nice vanilla accent, and there was a nice hint of honey.
