361 Tasting Notes
Another tea from the BBBB, this one courtesy of Sil. I was super excited to see this sample in the box as it was one I had read about on Silk Road’s website and wanted to try it. It is a nice black blend. There’s the faintest hint of orange or bergamot in it that I didn’t expect nor really want, but it didn’t put me off too much like most earl grays do. I got a couple good steeps out of it too. I don’t think I’ll order any, but I still have some more to play with that I will enjoy. Thanks Sil!
This tea came from the lovely Terri Harplady in our BBBB traveling box. It is a pretty decent Assam, but nothing about it makes it amazing. Definitely a solid cup and holds up against my cream and honey. I love the puriTea’s little sample packages, but I haven’t really loved any of their teas yet. I have a couple others from Terri left to try, so maybe one of those will win me over. And if they don’t, oh well, it’s not like I need to buy any more tea for the next 100 years anyway.
I do love their sample packages, but I tend to agree. Although their teas are decent, they aren’t spectacular. I’m hoping the next teas I send will knock your socks off! LOL!
Ha ha! I have the same thought about the tea I just sent you. That’s why I wanted to get it out so fast. I can’t wait to hear your thoughts and I hope you can try the chocolate :-)
I’ve been reading about this tea since I started on steepster back in March and it’s been pretty much sold out since then. So needless to say, I’ve been super excited to finally try it.
It doesn’t dissapoint. It’s sweet and full of spices. I can’t for the life of me figure out how an unflavored tea leaf can taste so strongly of cinnamon, nutmeg, and sweet potato pie. It’s kind of a shock to the system. The first sip caught me totally off guard. As I continued to drink it my head just started spinning trying to figure out all the flavors in that little cup. So I stopped thinking and just enjoyed it. It’s not a heavy dark cup at all, which tends to be my preference, but the flavors are so crazy delicious that I can imagine this being a great afternoon tea.
I’ve had a few cups since. I’ll definitely need to stock up before it runs out again (warn me when that’s close Stacy!)
TastyBrew-Absolutely, we will definitely be doing a warning when we are down to 10% stock left. We tried to purchase the correct amount for the year but it has only been a week and we have already sold 10% of the stock. I didn’t anticipate that people would be buying such large quantities. This may just be the initial rush, due to it being out of stock so long.
Holy $#|+! This tea just took me by the ankles, flipped me upside down, and shook me out of my tea blahs. This is rich black tea at is finest. And I’m only on my 2nd steep. Ahhhh… Good to be back.
Backlog from yesterday:
These tea leaves are the strangest leaves I’ve ever seen. They look more like those seaweed snacks that are becoming super popular these days. I put them all in my test tube steeper vertically and they went almost all the way to the top. The tea itself was pretty good. I got a few good steeps out of it, but it wasn’t anything too crazy.
Holy yumminess! This has been sitting in my swap drawer for ages and I didn’t know it was there. Luckily Since I’ve been going through all my swaps I found it hidden under some other teas. I brewed it with a few extra pearls in it and my first sip was surprisingly weak. I put the leaves back in for another minute and the result was crazy. So dark chocolaty, seriously, I don’t know how this is an unflavored tea. Then there is also a hint of sweetness like raisins, but not syrupy. Just good. I’m really enjoying this and I’m on steep 3! Thanks KallieBoo!!
Yum! I don’t know if my tasters are burnt out from all the sampling today or what, but I really like this one! Very almond cookie-y, but not overly sweet. Thanks moraiwe!
I think that’s the last of my saturday sample sipdown. And I think I’m caffeinated enough to last me through next week. I don’t know Sil does this :-)
