Aroma: The smell is amazing, filling the room sweet rhubarb and vanilla notes.

Flavour: An amazing fruity iced tea, but also creates a gorgeous tea when brewed hot too! The flavour is obviously fruity, but there’s also a wild mix of sweet vanilla, sour rhubarb and a light musty hint of hibiscus. Its melodic and captivating. However, it it’s disapointing that the rhubarb taste comes from flavourings.

A surprisingly light tea, considering the ingredients, with mentholated flavours making it super refreshing! Anise takes the predominant note, with mint close behind and lemon barely making an appearance.

A very greasy biscuit with incredibly buttery smell and taste. The earl grey is easily detectable, making the flavour fairly nice. Despite being a little on the crumbly side the biscuits dunk well and no rescue missions had to take place to save drowning biscuits!

Aroma: A tender chocolatey aroma that has, if you sniff deep, a hint of dark chocolate.

Flavour: Deep, toasted flavours are followed by a hint of chocolate and slight bitter taste, further giving Choco Pops a dark chocolate element.

Final thoughts: In comparison to the other blends in the Autumn 2016 collection this may seem unremarkable, however it does have autumnal links. Toasted rice blended with green tea is traditionally known as Genmaicha and was used by poor Japanese people to sustain them through colder months. The addition of black tea and chocolate adds a deeper flavour to Choco Pops, creating a wholesome and warming blend, with a real feeling of late autumn in the toasted notes.

Aroma: Foam banana sweeties!

Flavour: It’s hard to know what to expect from a blend like this, but having NEVER encountered a banana tea before there was an equal mix of excitement and trepidation. Banana + Custard is definitely different. The flavour is a predominant coating of strong artificial banana. Think thick banana milkshake kind of flavour. Yum! This is combined with a light vegetal note that’s developed from the green tea and a finish of liquorice felt in the back of the throat.

Final thoughts: Bananas + Custard is obviously a kooky blend, but it’s well worth trying with it’s delightfully sweet, creamy notes.

Aroma: spicy, similar to many chai blends, but when steeped this tea is buttery, and creamy, and sweet smelling. And. Oh. So. Very. Tempting.

Flavour: A sudden bitterness that quickly gives way to the spices, buttery pumpkin notes and finally, a sweet vanilla, that lasts into the finish and keeps you coming back for more. A dash of milk removes much of the bitterness of the Ceylon, creating a cup where every mouthful is to be savoured, radiating buttery, creamy vanilla hints and spiced notes. Think chai with an autumnal pumpkin twist.

Final Thoughts: In true Bluebird fashion, they have near flawlessly captured the essence of homey autumn evenings in this teas sweet aroma, delicious flavour and autumnal colours. It didn’t take more than a few sips to completely understand why this tea is a winner. For me, a dash of milk made this tea into perfection. GOD. ITS. SO. DAMN. GOOD. Words just can’t do Spiced Pumpkin Pie justice.

Aroma: Milk chocolate sweetness mingled with the citric scent of oranges.

Flavour: A generic fruit flavour, that becomes more distinctly orange-like the further down the cup you venture. The chocolate elements serve to add a sweet warming coating to the taste without making the tea very chocolatey. The pu erh tea creates a layer of depth, with a rich, earthy and somewhat spiced note that makes each sip taste like a moist fruit cake.

Final Thoughts: The taste is deep with a little complexity, making it an enjoyable and warming cup. Perfect for dark chocolate lovers, the short brisk days of autumn and those looking for a new way to enjoy pu erh tea.

Aroma: Divine. Strong chocolate & refreshing mint.

Flavour: MINT! mint in the foretaste, mint in the aftertaste, mint, mint, mint. Followed by creamy chocolate notes, which contains just a hint of honeyed rooibos.

Final Thoughts: Complete love this blend! If I had to list my top 10 this would definitely be in it.

Origin: The heart of the Kenyan highlands on a farm powered entirely by renewable energy during the day with the use of solar power.
Ingredients: Kenyan Purple Tea

Aroma: Deep, rich black tea with a sweet edge. Once steeped develops into a sweet caramel based scent.

Flavour: Gentle note of sweet with a spiced fruit hint, that develops seamlessly into a toasted buttery note, resonating the flavour of honey roasted almonds. Further depth is added with a sudden heavy caramel piquancy that is found in the long lasting finish.

Learning Point: Purple tea contains an antioxidant that acts as a PH indicator, turning orange/pink with acidic solutions and a greenish colour for alkaline.

Final Thoughts: Fun to play around with, but the flavour is a little disappointing, with the exception of drinking it iced, which was delightfully light and refreshing. I would love to hear from someone who tried this and loved it, but it’s not something I would personally come back to. Overall, I think purple tea is something every avid tea lover should at least try, just for the experience.
