As a painter of miniatures, I have finally gotten to the point where one wet palette is not enough. I was using stacking plastic cups, you know the kind that sauce comes in at restaurants, I have a big blending project in my actual wet palette, and these work on the short term, they still dry out pretty quickly. So I saw this tutorial for making stacking wet palettes out of bead sorters, sponges, and palette paper…so yeah…so many wet palettes are in the making, in three different sizes! Hooray for being an ex-jeweler!

Today’s tea on this most fanciest of Tuesdays (ha! take that holiday, I know what day it is!) is The Tea Shelf’s Halmari Clonal Assam Black. This beautiful fuzzy gold tea is from the Halmari Tea Estate in Assam, an old and fairly iconic tea estate, this tea is all about the tippy goodness, which is where all those glorious golden pieces come from. Plucked during the Monsoon Flush, picking the tea during this heavily rainy season gives it an intensity and richness, also making it a much desired flush. The aroma of this tea is intense indeed! With strong malty notes and a nutty sweetness, like peanut butter made from roasted peanuts and added dates, which sounds utterly delicious to me. There are also lesser notes of distant flowers and a hint of orange at the finish which gives the heavy tea a bit of brightness.

Into my beloved steeping apparatus the beautiful little leaves go, farewell glorious gold, I always miss their lovely fuzz which vanishes into the water as the leaves steep. The aroma of the now soggy and much larger leaves is a delicious smelling blend of malt, yams, dates, and roasted peanuts. It is a very intense aroma that has a rich heaviness to it. The amber liquid is a sweet blend of dates and yams with a rich malty finish.

I forget how much I enjoy a really high quality Assam, I have been called away from the richness that Assam gives by the more delicate Darjeelings, so I am glad to have a dance with this tea, for the sake of memories if nothing else. The taste starts out both rich and robust, with notes of malt and oak wood, a touch of molasses as it transitions to the sweeter midtaste. The middle is sweet dates and a bit of roasted peanuts, as the tea finishes off it has a brisk note of citrus that lingers alongside with the malt at the finish. This is a great morning tea, or afternoon tea when you need a boost, it mixes richness with briskness, all good qualities in a morning tea!

Love the miniature threatening your cup of tea on the blog. Is it time to get some themed Chinese miniatures for this purpose? I can just see a Chinese hopping vampire or demon threatening a cup of tea that is being protected by Monkey, Pigsy, Sandy and Tripitaka! Maybe it’s just me … :)

I want sooo many Chinese miniatures! Sadly there are not many games with Asian themed minis, but I am constantly scouring around for them. Recently I started playing Malifaux and picked Ten Thunders as my faction just because it is a coalition of Chinese, Japanese, and Vietnamese people with various levels of superpowers and such. http://pullmyfinger.wikispaces.com/Ten+Thunders it gets pretty cheesecakey at times, but all of Malifaux is like that

Also, Helldorado has the BEST ever Sun Wukong miniaturehttp://sodapopminiatures.com/hell-dorado/sun-wukong there is so much want :D It is safe to say when I can scrounge up the money to get more minis that are for personal use and not gaming, he is top of the list, really the entire Immortals faction from Helldorado (I really wish I knew someone who played that game so I had a reason to get it!) especially their Imperial Sentinel who has to be highly inspired by Guan Yu http://sodapopminiatures.com/hell-dorado/imperial-sentinel-human

Malifaux has some lovely figures, but I don’t know anyone that plays it, and those Helldorado figures are great too. I generally play generic games so I can use whatever miniatures I want with them. Have you seen the Black Hat Miniatures ‘Tales of the Dragon King’ range?

Some of the figures are pretty lumpish and they are certainly not in the same ball-park as the figures you linked to, but you can get Panda heroes. Panda Heroes!! Who wouldn’t want some of those? I have plans for buying from this range when Frostgrave comes out. I’m thinking the demon queen leading her apprentice and a horde of minor demons into the frozen city, or something like that. I need the rules first to see what is viable though.

I am a nerdy, obsessive, crafty, tea blogging, gaming nut. Yeah, that about sums me up! Ok, you want something more informative….

I am a Geek, hardcore fan-girl Geek. It shapes my life. I spend a large chunk of my life painting miniatures and contemplating my various army layouts. I hoard dice, get obsessed with games, and will talk about whatever fandom, game, etc that I am obsessed over until I am blue in the face. I am not just a gamer girl type Geek, I also fit in the collecting knowledge and spending way too much time reading and researching category of Geek.

But there is more to me than just being a giant nerd. I love tea, always have and have just gotten more and more obsessed as I get older. I love trying new teas and then writing lengthy descriptions about them on my blog, I love reading and researching the history and culture of tea, I love collecting tea pots and fancy tea tools.

When the weather allows it, I love to go mushroom hunting. I don’t eat them, instead I use them for photography and spore prints. I love nature and worked as a Naturalist in the Northwoods one summer, it might have been the best job ever.

I have Fibromyalgia, it sucks, but I feel people who are going to interact with me should know since I tend to vanish because of it so fair warning! I do tend to not vanish very long though. Also I have some ‘social disorders’ which basically translates to I am really awkward and bad at socializing, so forgive any lack of social graces.

I also have cats, love the ocean and all aquatic life, have teal hair, love cheese, and collect hats.

My favorite tea is definitely Oolong, but I also love Japanese greens and…ok I just love tea actually :P I am not a huge fan of lemony black teas or tart fruit teas. I also loathe hibiscus (usually)

This is my actual tea wishlist, you know that I actually update and keep track of…I tend to forget Steepster’s https://www.facebook.com/notes/amanda-wilson/tea-wishlishtshopping-list-perpetually-in-progress/10152336515414411 I use my steepster WL to keep track of teas I have had and really want more of :P
