1113 Tasting Notes
This golden black tea is slightly more subtle than the others that I have had and for someone like me who doesn’t enjoy black tea because of its strong bitterness that greatly increased my enjoyment with this tea. This is a wonderful tea to mess around with in regards to steeping temperatures because you can easily pull different note strength by 10 degree differences.
Preparation
I have drank many types of rooibos because they are caffeine free but I chose this for a tea that I could use as desert at night and the no caffeine was a bonus. I figured as a fan favorite it would be obsolete in regards to its taste but I find it to taste more like piece of angel cake that has been toasted around some wood. While that taste is not nasty, it is not the kind of sweetness I was looking for. I’ve tried steeping this about six different ways I am not finding it to be any better than other desert rooibos that I have had.
Preparation
This is what I would call a mid range gyokuro. It’s bright green and has a nice sweetness to its vegetable taste but it isn’t the best yet it isn’t bad nor could I make any remarks to anything I dislike about it; I’m just simply comparing it to other gyokuros I have tasted.
Ice steeping this tea = YUMMY!
I take a teaspoon of this tea and let it fall to the bottom of a cup and pile ice on top of it while I decide to neglect it for 30 minutes. When I return to the cup there is a nice cool liquid in the cup that I can drink with a smile and repeat by throwing more ice on top. Not only is this unique and fun, I get to eat this gyokuro at the end :)
Preparation
I bought this because I have a friend who really enjoys her earl teas. I actually found this tea to be quite present overall and ended up drinking the majority of it without her on accident in the mornings. This tea has a nice smell as well as a great taste for a morning tea.
This is very bias and unfair review
Bigalow’s Chinese Oolong teabags were what got me into tea in the first place years ago. My only experiences with tea were very dark and bitter tasting black teas until I decided to try this weird sounding tea that had the name of someone from the show Dragonball I had watched as a child. I drank this tea for years until I found out that not all tea was chopped up leaf. Thanks to grocery stores carrying this tea my love for oolong had a way to flourish from teabags which is quite interesting to remind myself.
This tea sounds awesome but the taste doesn’t match up it seems. I was looking forward to drinking this with a friend because a creamy rum tea sounds fun. The smell is off putting, but that doesn’t always mean taste so I was waiting for a surprise. Unfortunately this tea doesn’t taste good enough for me to even finish a cup. The first two ounces were decent but after that it was a struggle to drink.
