155 Tasting Notes
Tea of the morning. This is newly formulated version and it’s even sweeter and more chocolatey. So rich and delicious. I like this version even better and am bumping up my rating accordingly. This is a must have for me.
OMG I love Rivendell. I really loved it before. I loved it so much it was taking me forever to figure out how to write about it. And what did The Hobbit do? He went and made it BETTER with the anxi ben shan oolong base. This one of the very, very few teas I rate at 100. I require this tea.
It is ethereally beautiful – green, creamy, floral-fruity.
I love it so much I gave it TWO songs on my blog:

Preparation
My, my, my – ain’t this fine? A very generous Steepsterite provided me with a sample of this delightful sheng. Sarsonator and I were saying this morning we were going to search out teas with great cha qi and from now on and just buy those. Sarsita! Here’s one!!!
This is nicely sweet and delicious with a velvety qi that makes me hum. More (and the song!) on my blog at: https://atasteofmzpriss.wordpress.com/2014/12/06/2006-fall-lao-ban-zhang-ancient-tree-raw-pu-erh-yunnan-sourcing/
Thank you so much awesome Steepster friend.
After I finished my mad rush of Thanksgiving preparations, I had a little time to sit down with some tea before my guests arrived and I chose this. Fruity, fruity fruity. A little bit of bitterness, especially if you go a little long on the steeps but really nice. I very much got a lot of the apricot others have mentioned. A cake of this on my wishlist and I will scoop one up soon.
Flavors: Apricot
I had some sheng on Thanksgiving too! It just felt right :)
Fruity shengs are the best! I always giggle when I read “Bang Dong” though, because I’m 12 apparently :P
Sarsita (Sarsonator) has been kind enough to share her fungus with us. Which admittedly, doesn’t SOUND like a good thing, but in this case it so IS. Along with Sarsy and the Lovely Tea Fairy, The Teaplets had a Sunday morning fungus party. This is our third round of fungus – we started with the 2010 and the 2011 and today was the 2013. Sarsy and I like this one best, while LTF prefers 2010.
This was delicious with a really sweet, earthy-mushroomy taste that I enjoyed quite a lot. The body feel was all relaxation with a slight head buzz. A most enjoyable way to start Sunday – great friends and great tea.
I’m cold. I’m not a huge fan of winter. I like Autumn. When I get cold, I want chai. I don’t want bad chai. MOST chai is bad chai. I usually make my own. Fortunately for me, now I don’t have to as the HaikuHobbit has me covered.
The base of this spectacular chai is my beloved Wee Snaily Yums. Anything that starts with Snaily is pretty much gonna have to be great. And it is. Perfectly spiced, smooth and creamy dreamy.

Preparation
@julesbean – you will LOVE it
@boychik – I do NOT love the smoke. I’m ok with the smokey parts of sheng but not a fan of regular smokey tea.
It is still ass-freezing cold here in Central Texas. I don’t know how y’all who live where it’s cold a LOT stand it. I am enjoying a cup of the re-formulated North Winds. I have to say, The Haiku Hobbit knows what he’s doing. I love this even more than “old” NW and I loved that a lot. Chocolatey-bready sweet goodness for me to nom on.
Fall to winter is always tough but once you’re braced for the cold, it’s not so bad. Best part is warming up with a cup of hot tea.
I keep thinking I would like to live somewhere that has actual seasons. Then it’s cold for a little while here and I’m like “nah.” Then it becomes June and over 100 and I’m like “I need seasons that don’t feel like living on the face of the sun.”
But the warming up with tea thing is awesome. I’m about to have some chai.
I hope this winter isn’t as cold as the last one. It stayed around -20C for MONTHS! Enjoy your chai.
May I just whine again about the fact that it is COLD here?! It’s COLD! But I had a great large cup of this chocolatey goodness – this tastes like a bowl of chocolate MaltOMeal and then picked all the cocoa nibs out of the strainer basket and ate them. I got a LOT of this last time Verdant had it. I am prepared for Winter.
It’s cold outside today. Well cold for central Texas anyway. I wanted warm, sweet, snuggly tea. And this is it. And I’m glad I have a shitload.
Hi cuteness! I have been working insane amounts of hours. Yesterday was a 14 hour day. I’m sneaking in when I can. Today I have off cause of Veteran’s Day (though am working some from home). How are you?
Drowning in tea, as per usual. Couldn’t be happier about it, hah! ;)
I hope your work schedule quiets down soon.
I’ll get a little break around Thanksgiving and one around Christmas and then it’s balls to the wall until June 1. But after that – it will get a LOT better :D
I don’t think Austin believes in Fall as a season. Straight from summer to winter in a week. So little perfect outdoor weather. :(
YUM!
