Huh, is this even tea? No tea in; more over lots of spices, turmeric.

But let´s try it out. They suggest 8 minutes steep, so I did.

Well, this is very interesting beverage.
After the tea bag hit the water it started to change colour to bright yellow. Which is expected, but still amazed me. Bag is whole yellow now, after the steep. Colour of brew, yellow, with yellow stains on mug. Cloudy liquor.

Oh aromas are some generic spices – probably it smells bit like chai. Wel, the ingredients says so.

Taste – it feels bit oily in mouth. Probably mostly turmeric, it reminds me bit curry risotto or something like that, just generic Indian food (never had it though). Really interesting tea, but I am considering using bag or two into rice in some kind of meal. It can be very interesting I think – and probably better than drinking it on its own. I have whole box from my Swiss friend, so it will keep me busy a little. No rating so far.

I was drinking turmeric and mixed spice tea and enjoyed it with milk and a bit of honey. Coconut milk might be even better.

This golden milk mix is a thing in the west these days. Healthy apparently.

Mastress Alita

I love golden milk, it’s pretty much the only way I can handle turmeric.

Martin Bednář

This is very interesting guys, I think I will give it a try. Because drinking it on its own is weird. Not bad, but weird.

Evol Ving Ness

Yeah, drinking it alone is a sad thing, Martin. Let us know how it goes.

I put out a tea from my stash completely random and this is it. Why not. A black tea, perfect for cold morning.

It smells indeed like a Darjeeling, which is probably later date, not a first flush as I had few weeks back. Yup, indeed some orange notes are there. Maybe little of spicyness.

The visual is same as last time. Bright orange; rather bronze colour, clear. And tea is hot :/
Wanna drink it so badly. I haven´t got a proper cuppa for few last days; I was so busy, but still keeping a tea for a day. Yesterday it was some quite cheap green tea in café (they spend a lot on coffee, but getting a good tea is hard). Okay, Ahmad Tea – green tea. It wasn´t bad, but not really hurray tea.

And day before? Oh, that was that long day. I don´t even recall what tea I had. Ah, I know – a green tea from store, even worse; but with mandarin and orange. But it was bit plain. But I am making a TASTING NOTE of HIMALAYAN REPOSE. Soo,…

… it is same as last time. If you combine mine and derk´s reviews, you get a good idea what is this tea about. Easydrinking, bit orange and malt black tea. I was clearly affected that it was my third tea that day because I don´t think it is so great as it was back then. Still good tea to drink :) Lowering a rating just a nibble

“Love people the way they are.” quote from tag.

Caffeine free version of chai. So probably not very traditional, but at least I can drink it in the evening as this one.

Cinnamon is 53 per cent of this blend. Huh, quite a lot. But I like cinnamon, so not a big deal. In scent it is remarkable, followed with ginger.

They suggest 7 minutes brew; 400 ml of water. Interesting setup, I just made less water. So it should be stronger then.

Brew colour – bronze, quite cloudy.

Taste – cinnamon is really dominant, so kinda sweet, ginger is weak on the other hand. I expected it much spicy, but it is really overwhelmed with that cinnamony sweetness. I probably expected something stronger on flavour profile, but this is not it.

I know this review is rather short, but I am just writing it as I knew I added this tea and I don´t want left it blank. Moreover, trying to keep the log at least bit actual.

Even I have to write a tasting note to this “tea”. I have received an awesome care package from my friend (and penpal) in Switzerland. There were teas in (this one and 3 more) and three chocolate bars. Lindt chocolate bars! She spend so much just I felt weird (and bad) and she said it is nothing, just a care package. I was really crying because it is so nice from her. I can´t even thank her enough.

I had really crazy weekend. I wanted to study but my brain is telling me that I should not care. I should enjoy the moment. WTF brain? So, I did nothing. I even took today as a free day, as I need to finish something to school. I just don´t want to though. It is already 11 am and I did literally nothing. At least I have a pot of this tea. So, let´s describe it a bit.

It is called Glücksmomente, which means “happy moments”. Yeah, I just need that! What is in? Lemon balm, orange mint, nettle, some parts (can´t translate) from fir (maybe my favourite tips?), rose hips, marigold and “Monarda didyma”.

I even put it in tea pot, not just a cup, because I fell like I need a lots of it. And boy, it smells so wonderful! Firs and balm strongly hit my nose. Then something bit spicy and fresh citrus. I guess that is the nettle with orange mint.

I think the tea is calming me down a bit. Maybe I feel bit drowsy even. But that´s okay. I took a pink grapefruit chocolate I received as well. I can´t decide what smells better. If the tea or the chocolate. Chocolate is kind of bitter, but very nice. The fresh notes of grapefruits are very interesting when combined with chocolate. The tea on the other hand is bit spicy with orange notes. The citrusy flavours due to fir parts are there too.

Aww, so great herbal blend. Thank you Fabiana.

How lovely! It makes me happy to hear about these thoughtful and delicious presents. Wonderful!

Martin Bednář

Evol Ving Ness – it was indeed so nice from her. And so thoughtful. She is coming for visit next month so I have to spoil her a bit :D

Evol Ving Ness

Excellent! We look forward to hearing what you have/had in store for her when she visits: virtual tourism. Hope that they will be lovely days together.

Okay, actually I have this in tea bag form. So prepared hot. I have no idea where I get it, but; looks fresh.

Opened the foil wrapping with my carpet cutter (well, collection, you know :D) and lots of dust went out. A matcha? Anyway, I wanted a green tea today and it is a green tea.
Heated the kettle, the cup, in the cup it goes… Forgot completely make notes about dry leaf! Here is it!
Dry aroma was very strong, I noticed lots of fresh peas, while my brother thought it is rather freshly mowed grass. Both of us are right I guess, then some vergetal notes, and at laste (but not least) buttery and umami.

Added water, about 76°C if my thermometer don´t lie. On bag is just “pour boiled water”. Hehe, 30 seconds steep? Nope here, as I probably used much bigger cup than they mean I used 90 seconds. And tea looks done. A cloudy, lime green liquor. Quite light.

Flavours, taste, whatever you call it. Vegetal, buttery, maybe bit nutty. But tasty green tea. It is 6 pm, and I am drinking probably quite strong green tea? Great, I won´t sleep I guess. So what?

If you get lucky to get it hot, I can recommend it fully! There are better green teas, not so buttery, but up to each one taste.

Flavors: Butter, Freshly Cut Grass, Garden Peas, Umami

Another tea I took again, from those I already made a tasting note. I wanted something good, play with gaiwan, doing nothing.

Well, this suited well – simple pu-erh. So, three grams into gaiwan and let it brew. No rinse, first steepings were approx 20 seconds long, then adding 10(and more) seconds every subsequent steep.

Colour of brew was really dark brown (usually, first steeps were of course cleaner and lighter). But I do not noticed much of aromas. Maybe my nose is still stuffed. And my taste buds are not really working well too. Sickness is killer for this probably. Anyway, the tea was rather in flavours weak, and noticed completely something else as wet wood, wet leaf pile, lots of wet… flavours. But yeah, maybe it is caused of my sickness.

Ehem, well, maybe I storage it wrong? I do not have any great chest for teas, I am keeping them in cupboard in original packages – sometimes I put some into tins. All in kitchen, quite near to cooker. Dark place though. And quite dry I assume. Second place where I keep my teas is a drawer in my room, which is usually much more humid :/
Where I should keep it? Or should I move? :D

Preparation
Boiling 1 min, 0 sec 3 g 3 OZ / 85 ML
Evol Ving Ness

hahaha, should I move?

I am happy that I haven’t reached that level of tea obsession yet that I have to move to accommodate optimal tea storage. However, I will mention that teas are in fact taking over my living space, so, Martin, you are not alone.

In the same boat as you two…

Another attempt on this one.

Took two teaspoons of mix, strainer, hot water and here we go:

Colour is red-copper, clear, not much dusty. Probably better strainer. Anyway, it was very nice.
Aroma – I can´t say with my stuffy nose, sorry :)
Ahh, taste – the most important for me; well it was kind of woody, but smooth aftertaste which consists of honey mostly. Still no English breakfast notes though.

But much better than last time, but bit boring. It tastes like rooibos with little honey taste caused by honeybush I guess.

Flavors: Honey, Wood

drank Thé au Lait by Lupicia
2108 tasting notes

This is oldie. I really don´t know – but I remember we made a group buy because of tea bags. And I remember that I fell in love with Lupicia, but the price :O It was still in foil wrapping so it should be good.

I was looking for it on French website, but in vain. Weird. We ordered it there. So Japan website. Found it; but just in Japanese. I can´t read this “loose leaf”. Google translate!
Ahh, I see – apparently discontinued tea, blend of Indian and Ceylon teas. Sounds great. The tea itself in sachet was quite puny with few golden pieces. I did not added any milk though it would be probably even better.

What a colour after 3 minutes steep! Wonderful copper and completely clear. Shiny!
It is not aromatic, I wonder it is because of age or my flu. Sorry if you are looking for this characteristic.

Taste – full bodied, malty tea. But also some sweetness. Rich taste, like English breakfast blends. But this has got some mint aftertaste? I mean like something fresh after the sip. It is really great. As I said, probably like English breakfast. It really reminds me that.

I wonder how it pairs with milk. But I guess I won´t find out :/

I don´t want to be sick :(

stop being sick Martin!

mrmopar

Oh no! Tell that flu to go away.

:( Feel better soon.

Mastress Alita

I love Lupicia! Since this tea is discontinued, if you are looking for a different Lupicia English Breakfast black to replace it, I really liked La Belle Epoque. It may not be quite as strong but it was quite a nice blend, I recall a touch of darjeeling and Keemun in the blend.

Martin Bednář

Thanks everybody, I feel bit better today (and not because a paracetamol in my body). I guess I will make free Monday (I have just not mandatory lectures) and it will be okay.

Mastress – oh, thank you for suggestion, I will check it out for sure :) But right now I have to save my money a bit, so I think I will stick to my subscription of Bird and Blend. And some teas I will buy around.

2108 tasting notes

Again…
Much shorter, as I don´t recall it so well. Can´t we have some autosaves for tasting notes?

I have a physics exam today again, I did not studied much for it. As an extra – I have flu. I brain feels boiled, can´t focus at all.

Colour of brew is brown, nothing really fancy – maybe yellow (golden) notes.
Aromas are lemon, slightly sour and herbal.
Taste is very similar – lemon, but with some herbal aftertaste.

Overall, it is quite okay. Maybe my teaste buds are numb, so I can´t enjoy it so much. I feel numb completely myself.

Finished a cuppa; it went better than expected. A verbena in makes me feel bit better probably (I googled few effects it should have), yerba maté woke me up and overall it was nice blend. Not that I would make another cup, but certainly nice. Now, to the physics.

Boiling 3 min, 15 sec 10 OZ / 300 ML

Good luck with your exam :)

Good luck as well!

Get some good sleep, tea friend.

Thermos time today!
I had to prepare beforehand in French press, as I have not find any filter bags anymore.
It turned out quite well, very pink colour.
I have used heaped spoon for liter or almost that.

It was very similar to last experience, but now bit more buttery and less fruity. Maybe more tea.
Anyway, it was great.
