2060 Tasting Notes

Haha, another tea from postcrossing. But honestly, I have drank this tea while I was in Finland. Little of nostalgy coming :)

Anyway, this tea is exactly that it says. Black tea with blueberry muffin flavor. While I was in Finland, I could not find single fruit tea. And as fruit tea I mean those with base of hibiscus and apples, as usual is here.

So that makes teas much different. The real tea base makes it better, as there is no tartness usually and so it is case of this tea. There is no tart taste, not even sourness. It really tastes as blueberry muffin.

The creaminess, the fruit taste of blueberries, dough taste… so delicious all together with undernote of black tea. What you can ask more?

I checked their website aand I shoud not made it. Their shipping is reasonable and prices as well. Maybe it is not TOP tea, but it brings back memories, you know.

No rating, so far.

Grandpa, 2 grams, almost boiling water.

Is it too hot? Not enough leaves? Answer for both is nope. It was awesome tea! So smooth. And taste? Well hard to describe actually, it reminded me cream, but with wood and wet forest. Bit of minerality was there too. Astringency? Yep, but just a little bit.

Autumn tea. At least for me.

Derk; I have waited for good weather for this tea. And as it is typical autumn; wet, cloudy, rainy, unpleasant weather, I think it was just perfect. THANK you a lot for this experience!

I have had one or two teas from this comoany and remember they were impressive. Glad you enjoyed your tea today!

derk

You’re welcome, Martin. It is very good prepared in a gaiwan if you haven’t already.

Now I am envious because the weather became hot here again ~30C.

Martin Bednář

I have to try it in gaiwan as well, I have something left. I bet it will be awesome then. Today morning was temperature just 1°C. Which is kind of cold. I took my winter jacket and in the afternoon it was completely useless, but rainproof. I hate this weather when you do not know what to wear.

derk

I would love more 1C weather so I can drink all these comforting rock oolong and puerh teas in my closet! It will be cooling down a little over the next few days but we are under a high wildfire warning due to a combination of seasonal high winds and low relative humidity. To anticipate the possibility of wind-felled power lines sparking fires, the electric company might be cutting power to a very large region of northern California, effecting hundreds of thousands of people. According to the map, my house is one street outside the power outage zone, so I’m unsure if we’ll be without electricity for the next few days. My employer 2km up the road is in the zone but we have generators and due to the nature of our business, will be open to serve the community’s needs.

Mastress Alita

Todd’s new house was in the power outage zone. It was restored yesterday though.

derk

He moved, too? I hope he wasn’t effected too severely by the power outage. Only a small portion of my town ended up having the power cut but I’d say half my coworkers were effected.

derk

I wonder if Old Ways Tea was in the zone since they’re located I think in San Jose or Santa Clara.

I hope those temperatures would not make big troubles for anybody. Extremes are always bad.

Good rainy morning from Czech Republic. Today I have prepared a green tea with cranberry flavour.

It is from only tea bag though.
Brews cloudy yellow-green colour, not very visually appealing. But aroma is indeed quite hay like and as well after cranberries. Taste? Well, the base tea is boring. Actually, I feel only hot hay from it – well, Ceylon is not famous for greens anyway. But cranberries are present too. There is as well some sweet notes reminidng me chewing gum a bit. But it is not annoying.

So. That’s it.

Flavors: Cranberry, Hot Hay

Preparation
195 °F / 90 °C 2 min, 45 sec 10 OZ / 300 ML

I have prepared this tea in gong-fu style. It is rather weird, but actually works quite well. I did several 30 seconds long steeps. All of them were very tasty, strongly malty with some velvet like aftertaste. It was smooth as velvet – not taste like velvet. Maybe some grapes were there, little of smokiness too. As well some florarity.

Overall, it is good tea. Maybe western style suits this tea best. Or brewing it in a large pot for sharing with everyone.

Flavors: Floral, Grapes, Malt

I do not know which estate is this tea from. It can be Korakundah, but on backside there is an address sayin as well Chamraj Estate. Maybe a mix from both?

Anyway, tea from postcrossing.

I steeeped it for 2 and half minutes, with almost boiling water (they suggest 85°C). Result was so nice. Bright yellow colour, bit cloudy. The aromas were quite basic, basic green tea. Taste was different story. It was very floral, mellow and very smooth. Overall rather enjoyable tea, though I can imagine better. No umani notes.

drank Aronia z maliną by Malwa
2060 tasting notes

Chokeberries with raspberries. Interesting combination, but as Poles like Aronia (lots of fruit teas with those berries) it is probably good. Cool that it really includes both berries which are expected to be in and not in small quantity. Min. 40 % of aronia and min. 6 % of raspberry. It will be probably very aromatic tea.

It is! And really dark one. Of course dark not in aromas! How should dark smell like afterall? Chokeberries, aka aronia, it is going to be tart probably, but there are raspberries which are rather sweet berries. Elderberries are something in the middle. I steeped it for long (they suggest 8-10 minutes) so I did something like that. I have not even checked the time.

Colour, though it is in mug, is very dark. Of course it smells after all those berries.
But in taste? It is bit watery with tartness by aronia and elderberries. Not much from raspberries, though they were well present in dry aroma.

It is rather “just okay” caffeine-free alternative.

Preparation
Boiling 8 min or more 11 OZ / 330 ML

It seems there is a another entry of this tea I have overlooked completely. The second one does not have any notes as well, so – I took that one I made myself. Hopefully it is correct too.

It is 5.30 am here. I go to Uni in two hours. I am awake so early because my brother needed a lift to train station, as he is going to Italy. So, I am kind of sleepy, so I need little bit caffeine boost and as it is only +7 °C outside, something warming up will be nice.

It is cloudy yellow-green liquor, with nice aroma of sweet cinnamon. Maybe bit of spiciness of cardamon is there too.

But when sipped! Okay, base tea is okay. I would prefer black base than green. It would be better. I need to get cardamon somewhere. It is nice and little spicy. Quite sweet, but could be much worse.

Flavors: Cardamom, Cinnamon, Grass Seed, Hay

Preparation
180 °F / 82 °C 4 min, 30 sec 10 OZ / 300 ML

This tea is in wonderful wrapper with some flowerin branch and a train with only text in Latin script saying: “Taiwan Alishan Tea”.

When smelled dry tea bag I think it is some kind of light roasted oolong. This was certainly noticeable after brewed. It was lighlty green with yellow notes. In taste it was floral and orchid like. Not vegetal at all, and overall, rather towards sweet notes than astringency. Good one, though only tea bag.

300ml / 3 minutes steep, just boiled water.

Few teas I have received from postcrossing. From India. So, I have each tea once only. I took this one as a first.

The bag looks completely different than on photo. Maybe they changed the design? Very probably. Anyway, it looks pretty and hopefully will be nice tea as well. Funny is that I have not stated that I am looking for green teas and received 4 of them (of 5).

This tea smells quite heavily on honey side, but as well there are lemon notes. Maybe like some kind of candy. Bit medicinal as well (reminds me those sucking pills for sore throat.

When brewed, the green tea base is quite basic. Nothing much distinctive, the tastes and aromas are bit boring as well. There was certainly lemon and honey flavours, but quite weak. Overall it was bit medicinal and thus not very tasty.

“…a match made in heaven” – I have to disagree. It was rather basic taste. I can imagine better.

Flavors: Honey, Lemon, Medicinal

Preparation
190 °F / 87 °C 10 OZ / 300 ML

It is good to have friends. Good friends. This time my friend was in Belarus with his girlfriend which come from that country. She was studying in Czech Republic with this friend – so she speaks Belarussian as well Czech.

I asked him for a tea and he picked this one. I prepared it today and well, it is great tea! Of course it is not so good as loose-leaf (I have tea bags), but it is certainly good tea base.

Base was bold, but in no way bitter. Not over-filled with fruity notes. It is not even much in taste – but you feel it it is not pure black tea. Little fruitiness, mellowing the taste.

Great!

I am drinking almost everything. Tea bag collector who moved to wonderful world of loose leaf.

Trying to rate differently tea bags and loose leaf as tea bags have usually worse quality.

Photographer now and then. Postcrossing and geocaching member. Very curious person. Logistics student (should finish in June 2021).

Buried in tea right now. Is in my cupboard (trying to be updated) which sparkled your interest? Write me, I would gladly share with you. But I don’t want anything in return now :)
