429 Tasting Notes
This tea is brisk, malty, and biscuity. It does remind me a little of Mountain Malt. The health food store here carries Teas etc which is a plus. I asked them to carry more of their black teas. I loved their Golden Monkey and figured I would like this one. ( I also read JacquelineM’s review on this tea as we have alike tastes.) The tea is black with golden tips and smells very earthy. This is one of the best assam teas I have drank with one exception.
Preparation
I needed a strong tea this morning and tea doesn’t get much stronger than this. 3.1g of Kenyan tea in a hemp bag with no string steeped for 2 minutes. Steep any longer and the spoon will stand up in the cup. Lifeboat has to be one of my favorite teas. I buy it when I find it as its a British tea and very hard to find. I’m sitting here thinking why do I like this tea so much. Its very brisk and does have some astringency. Its not bitter and has a wonderful taste. It will wake you in the morning as it is as strong as coffee. I’ve tried most of the English teas and I prefer this one. The tea uses no pesticides and is Fair trade. All this and it supports the Royal National Lifeboat Institution.
Preparation
Today is cold and rainy here at the coast in Maine. Its a great day for hot tea. This is a nice tea (bag) from Twinings. I always seem to like their teas. This one is brisk, robust, no bitterness, and just a little astringency. A nice tea to wake up to.
Preparation
This may be a tea bag, but its a very good tea bag. It reminds me of Rishi’s Chinese Breakfast. It does have the yunnan taste and the raisiny sugar smell down exactly. While it does miss some of the notes of Rishi, it is an excellent breakfast tea. The tea is brisk and robust and very tasty.
Preparation
This is a great breakfast tea. Its brisk and malty with only slight bitterness and astringency. I’m still trying to figure out why Mountain Malt only took 3 minutes of steeping while this one takes 5 minutes and still doesn’t have the strength or chewiness. Maybe it has to do with the oxidation or something. Both teas are BPS1 and handmade. Hopefully someone reading this with more tea knowledge than myself can answer this for me. Still this is a nice tea.
Preparation
Its not usual for a tea to come off as advertised but this one does. It smells like a yunnan but its not. The tea has a nutty sweet taste with no bitterness. This is a sample I received and its a very nice tea. It really reminds me a green but its not. I’m really happy I got to try this tea. Its not really a tea I would drink a lot of but I enjoyed it immensely.
