LiberTEAS sent me this sample a while ago…I can’t believe I’m just now trying it! This is fantastic. The mate is almost hidden by the spices, but the spices are well-balanced and not overpowering at all. I’m very impressed; this is definitely the best yerba mate that I’ve had yet!

Thanks so much, LiberTEAS, for sending me this to try. I love it!!

Ah, the day after Thanksgiving. If ever there was a day to try this tea, this is it. Especially since Round 2 is tonight.

I can taste the vanilla and cream mainly here, along with the oolong. The chai spices are there but seem to be more background notes, though there’s one that I can’t identify that’s trying to take over the entire show.

Overall, it’s pretty good, but somehow I doubt this one little pot is going to undo the pecan pie from yesterday!

I love Dr. Who, and was so excited to try this tea. Rachel sent me some! Thank you so much!

I can’t help but think our favorite Time Lord would not approve. I taste no pomegranate, nor tangerine. I taste tea and bitter citrus pith.

I can’t help but think that the Daleks would have only one word to say to this tea: Exterminate!!

Yeah I wasn’t a huge fan either. It is one I had from a pass. I was hoping it would find a better home with you. At least it was worth a try but I had a feeling you would feel the same as I. No worries, the fun is in the journey.

Jaime

I’m so glad I got to try it…I had been thinking of investing in it. I love pomegranate and tangerine, so I thought this’d be perfect. I am going to tweak the parameters next time around…maybe I can get the flavors to work!

I’ve already been kicked out of the kitchen. Can’t say that my feelings are hurt. I’ll just have to sneak in the kitchen from the other side to make more tea.

The lovely Rachel sent me some of this blend. The smell is fantastic. I love the taste as well: smooth vanilla with the spiced apple chai. This is definitely great for a fall morning (though the current temperature is anything but fall-like). I think this would be good steeped for longer as well without harm.

It’s about 6 am, and I’ve been awake for over an hour. No, I’m not carefully stuffing a turkey for our Thanksgiving meal (I’ll frost the cake later today, but that’s probably as far as my contributions to the meal will go). I simply lack the ability to sleep in when I’m allowed to sleep in.

So, as quietly as I could in my parents’ sleep-filled house, I rummaged through my bag o’ tea to make my morning cuppa. This is one of the new teas that Cuppa started carrying, and rather than just having a cup there to try it, I went ahead and got an ounce.

Brewed up, it smells of tea and honeysuckle and earth. Taste is actually much, much weaker than the color suggests (it’s a dark amber). It’s very sweet, as though honey has been poured liberally into it. And really, that’s kinda all I’m tasting. There’s a slight tea taste, as though it were trying to over come the honey. Next time around, we’ll try a 5 minute steep. I’ll hold off on rating it until then.

So I tried to make a tea soda out of this. I failed.

To make things better, I brewed up the last bags into a pot of hot tea. And am trying to come to terms with the fact that all I’m really capable of making tea-wise is a pot of hot neat tea, and iced sweet tea. The second of which I don’t even like and only make for my mother. My lattes are sad, and my other experiments just leave me empty inside.

Oh, well. I still love my tea hot and neat.

You failed at tea soda or the tea failed at tea soda?

Jaime

I failed at tea soda. Let’s just say it wasn’t pretty.

Cofftea

If you tell me what you did maybe I can give you some pointers. I’ve done it a couple times and it’s turned out good.

Jaime

Made a tea concentrate out of the bags…just enough hot water to cover them. Added that and some sweetener to carbonated water. Rolled bottle gently to mix.

Cofftea

Omit the sweetener? I’m kinda biased since I never use sweetener, but that’s the only difference in how I make mine. Sad. :(

Jaime

I added the sweetener after the first taste unsweetened gagged me. Yup, sad.

Cofftea

Well at least you know what you did wrong.

Meghann M

Sad:( I’m sorry your tea experiment failed. I haven’t tried tea soda because anytime I add splenda to soda water I have a mess on my hands. Maybe honey would work?

Oh, my beloved Raspberry & Vanilla, how it pains me to see you go. You are so fantastic and wonderful. Until my next Jungle Jim’s excursion, I shall miss you…but I shall enjoy my cupboard space.

Slight backlog…brewed up a big pot of this before starting my Thanksgiving contribution: Chocolate Blackberry Spice cake. It’s now in the oven, and I’ll frost it in the morning. Here’s hoping it turns out well!

And now, my teapot is empty and I have to clean the kitchen. sigh

Sounds like a yummy cake!!!!

Jaime

Here’s hoping! It’s a new recipe I’m trying out.

Am finally decupboarding this. It’s definitely nothing to gush about, and this final cup has a strange ginger taste to it. Hate to say it, but I’m kinda glad to see it go.

Bio

My love of tea started in 2001, whilst in an internship in London, England. I shared an office with a lovely man who would make me a cup of tea every morning without asking me if I even wanted it. I drink my tea neat now, because I’ve yet to find the sugar/milk combination that lives up to Pablo’s.

I drink any and all kinds of tea, and love trying new brands/varieties/flavors.
