6 Tasting Notes
This tea smells like heaven.
Dry and steeped, it smells like caramel popcorn, sweet and a bit savory. I was skeptical that this would taste the way it smells but I was pleasantly surprised. I dont really detect any apple flavour, just caramel sweetness and a nutty buttery flavour. No doubt I will be purchasing more of this.
Preparation
I am addicted to this tea! I used to be an avid coffee drinker but was finding myself getting bored with my daily cup so I thought I would try some more teas. I was initially quite scared to try a Pu’erh tea as I have seen some comments mentioning rotting fish. I was pleasantly surprised when I brewed this and and detected only a slight oceanic scent. This does have a slight earthyness along with a subtle chocolate-coffee flavour I just cant get enough of. This coupled with the fact that I cannot detect any bitterness in this tea it makes for a very drinkable cup.
Preparation
I’m not rating this as fruit teas are not really my thing anyway. I was hoping this I would like this would taste like a strawberry rhubarb crumble but all I really got was an overwhelmingly yogurty taste. I made this hot and added a bit of milk to complement the strawberry yogurt, it was kind of like drinking melted strawberry frozen yogurt. I cant figure out if milk belongs with this tea or not.
Preparation
I had tried this tea once before and recall liking it but this time I was not a fan. I must have got more of the pineapple and hibiscus in the mix this time because it was very tart. Its like a sour apple. I previously detected more of the nut flavour along with the apple and found this to taste like a slightly more sour forever nuts. I almost tossed this cup because the sourness was really bothering me. With all the apple/nut combinations available I wouldn’t bother with this again.
Preparation
Wow. I got this set on cyber Monday for 40% off and a week later I finally got around to trying the two teas mixed together. I fell in love with the coffee pu’erh but I was a little iffy on birthday cake as I realize I am not the biggest rooibos fan. I did even amounts of both teas steeped for 5 minutes. I couldn’t resist adding cream to this instead of milk and a bit of stevia to really make it taste like tiramisu. The flavour is actually really close to the real thing. I find this smells a little odd because of the seaweedy scent of the pu’erh blending with the sweet flavours of birthday cake but it tastes great. I feel like this combo would be great as a replacement for my morning coffee or an after dinner treat.
