19 Tasting Notes
Amazing. The smell blew me away in the store, and I bought my first full tin right then and there. I tried it earlier today and have already enjoyed four cups of the stuff. The smell is intoxicating, and the taste lives up to the smell. It’s like drinking a jasmine flower, which is very much up my alley.
Preparation
A little disclosure: I have only ever tried this tea when served to me in restaurants. So, I have no idea what temperature the water was, how long the water sat out before they brought it to my table, whether or not the tea bag was stale…basically, there are a lot of variables going on.
Every time I have tried this tea, it was weak and bland. I have steeped it for 2 minutes, I have let it steep for the entire time we were eating, and nothing improved the watery taste. The liquor stayed a gutless pale yellow and the taste, as I said, was flat.
Again, I have no idea if this is an issue with the tea itself or with water temperature or brewing time, but I have been underwhelmed every time.
I used to drink this tea a lot before I delved into the world of loose teas. That, and every restaurant in BC seems to serve this as their default green tea. Anyway, I tried it again recently and it was underwhelming. Meh green tea, meh tropical flavours. Mighty Leaf makes a good jasmine tea and a good hojicha, but this one is underwhelming.
So delicate and floral! This tea smells and tastes fantastic and, well, “pretty.” The buds are appealing and fuzzy, the liquor is a lovely pale colour, and the aroma is just fantastic. All jasmine tea lovers should give this a taste.
