drank Cinnamon Chai by Paromi
7 tasting notes

I was excited because I thought I had discovered a delicious tea that wasn’t in the Steepster database, but when I came here to add it I found that the lovely Ms. JacquelineM had beaten me by a few days! Harrumph!

I went to Wholefoods over the weekend to re-stock a few of my favorite teas, and my eye was quickly drawn to several rows of Paromi packaged in amber glass jars. I love finding new brands and I’m a big fan of chai, so I purchased the Paromi Cinnamon Chai.

I think the silky, tagless sachets smell like apples and my husband thinks they smell like cherry cough drops – the blend contains neither. It does have a nice mix of rooibos and spices dotted with bright red peppercorns.

I brewed my first cup according to the instructions – 1 sachet for a 12 ounce cup made with boiling water – and found it too weak for my taste but still very good. For my second cup I used 8 ounces of water and sweetened the deep red liquor with dark honey and a splash of soy milk – it was perfect. The flavors in this chai mingle well – no one spice dominates and the rooibos seems to be of a high-grade; this tea tastes expensive.

My overall impression of the Paromi brand is that it is an excellent quality product. I am definitely going to buy more of the Cinnamon Chai when this jar is done, and I’m going to pick up a few more flavors too – the Coconut Almond is calling my name.

:) It’s good, isn’t it!!? I also thought Coconut Almond sounded pretty divine!

This is a very good cup of Earl Grey. The raspberry fragrance and flavor is perfect along side the bergamot which is blended in just the right amount, and I can taste the Nilgiri tea, a black variety that I enjoy.

I get two 8 oz. steeps per sachet – the second one is mellower but still lovely.

Thank you Jaime for sending me this tea. :)

drank Wedding Tea by Harney & Sons
7 tasting notes

Today my husband and I are celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary – we are drinking Harney & Sons Wedding Tea and reviewing it together.

We used one sachet per 8 oz cup (a little stronger than the suggested usage) in 180 degree water and steeped it for 3 minutes; the result was a deep yellow-orange liquor. The flavor was delicate but not weak.

We were both able to distinguish individual notes of vanilla and rose with a faint lemon background on a base of white tea, but when we sat back and experienced the ingredients in concert we discovered the taste and aroma of marshmallow candy.

We both enjoyed this tea; my husband rated it a 77, I gave it a 79.

This combo sounds LOVELY! It even inspired me to create my own blend. Happy anniversary!

JacquelineM

Happy anniversary :) I’ve heard your husband DJ before many shows I’ve attended :) So funny what a small world it is.

Paul M Tracy

Congrats! My wife and I are coming up on #21. I might try to find this for our day too.

Glamorosi

Thank you everyone for your good wishes!

Cofftea, I look forward to reading about your blend.

JacquelineM, my husband was flattered you remembered – most people only know him as a writer and don’t know he used to DJ.

Paul M Tracy – your 21st Anniversary – that is fantastic – congratulations!

Cofftea

I really have no need, room, or $ for 4oz of the same tea right now, but it has has lemon, cream, and strawberry black teas- adagio doesn’t let me use rose:(

Jaime

I’m going to have to get this for my cousin. Her wedding is in October; a nice tea set, kettle, and this tea would make a great gift!

Glamorosi

My husband and I have the pretty Wedding Tea tin with 20 sachets. Harney & Sons also offers the tin packaged with a white teapot, two matching cups and I think a pair of honey spoons. A five piece tin is available and it can be personalized (nice for wedding favors).

They also sell the Wedding Tea as loose leaf by the pound – I’m hoping when we’re done our tin we’ll refill it with that, or at least get the bulk bag of sachets (50 pieces).

Jaime

Oh, thanks for the tip! Saves me the trouble of having to find everything!

Glamorosi

Aww, you’re welcome Jaime! :-D

drank Almond Oolong by Adagio Teas

I soooo love this flavored oolong – it smells like amaretto and if you add a little rock sugar it tastes like Jordan Almonds. Very smooth.

I reviewed the Tea Forté Kati Cup and a few teas on my blog; here’s what I wrote about Chamomile Citron:

…The big surprise for me was how much I enjoyed the Chamomile Citron. I am usually not a fan of chamomile, but Tea Forté’s blend of Egyptian flowers mixed with hibiscus, rose hips, peppermint, lemongrass, lemon verbena and licorice root yielded a pretty pink liquor that was calming, delicious and addictive. I knew after my first sip of the aromatic infusion that I had to have more, and that it would become a staple in my tea chest. This sweet and tart brew was wonderful unadorned, but I added a bit of rock sugar and it was outstanding…

drank Green Tango by Tea Forte
7 tasting notes

I reviewed a few Tea Forté products on my blog; here’s what I wrote about Green Tango:

…Green Tango is organic green tea with mango. It features Chinese Jade Wing green tea with South African green honeybush and mango. The leaves smell like fresh fruit with a hint of the earthy scent of green tea. Once it’s brewed the pale orange potion evolves into a heady bouquet of mango perfume. The flavor is mellow in a pleasing way with a faint vegetal aftertaste of green tea that anchors the blend. Although it was definitely enjoyable on its own, I added a teaspoon of honey to enhance the sweetness, and that brought out the taste of the honeybush…

This blend has a lovely almond aroma. I used 3 heaping teaspoons in 12 oz pot and steeped it for 10 minutes. Each sip of the deep pink brew revealed a prominent apple and hibiscus start with a lingering almond finish. Although this tea is called “Roasted Almonds”, and they are clearly visible in the mix, the taste is sweeter, more like raw almonds or the aftertaste of almond milk.

I really liked this tea, and I’d definitely buy it. I don’t have a permanent rating system in place yet, but for now I’m giving this an 80.

Thank you Kristin for sending me this tea!
