drank Tiramisu by Teavana
1711 tasting notes

One of the first loose leaf teas I fell in love with was Teavana’s Tiramisu Treviso. It was a rooibos. It didn’t taste exactly like tiramisu, but it was really good and with no notice it was discontinued and gone forever. Having developed a dislike of rooibos since then, I was excited and hopeful that this black based tiramisu from Teavana might be reminiscent of the previous. So today I went all the way across town to a mall (I never go to malls, so it’s super weird and yucky to be in one) to try this tea. I thought I should get a cup of it to go before committing to 2oz of loose tea. When they ran me up, my total was $5.40. For a cup of tea! 2oz of the tea would have cost me $7. They don’t have the prices listed and if you don’t ask, they don’t tell you how much it is until they are ringing you up. They got me in their sneaky trap and I walked right into it blindly. Unfortunately that wouldn’t be the last bitter taste in my mouth from this experience.

My first sips have this tang to it like it’s filled with fruit and hibiscus. It is the kind of tang that as it passes over your tongue, your jaw muscles get an achy wave. The girl making my tea asked if I wanted it sweetened and I said no. I’m honestly not sure if she did or not because this cup is really sweet. Once the initial tang passes, I do taste some fruit which quickly turns to coffee notes. There is a weird aftertaste where coffee and tart fruit take turns appearing and retreating. Adding creamer dampens the weird fruit notes, but it also weakens the rest of the flavors too. I had such high hopes for this tea and it is nothing but a gross let down. Mixing David’s Birthday Cake with Coffee Puer makes a WAY better cup of tiramisu. It feels like a waste pouring a $5+ cup of tea down the drain, but here we go!

My name is Dustin and I like tea.

I’m an added flavor kind of tea fan, but have had a growing appreciation for plain. I want my tea to remind me of cookies and cakes with coconut and almond slices with a hint of chocolate drizzled on top. I want dancing ponies and flying monkeys shooting off fireworks! And no hibiscus. Hibiscus is the devil.
