16 Tasting Notes
What a delightful cup of tea.
I am still experimenting a bit with temperature, steep time and leaf quantity. I find light notes of cocoa, smoke and malt and consistent with my prior experience, this tea is smoooooth with a sweet aftertaste.
Not the I stayed up all night working so I need a """BANG""" of a cup of tea in the morning to get me started rather, it is a soft, mellow cup of comfort that provides the perfect accompaniment for a calming respite.
Flavors: Cocoa, Malt, Smoke, Smooth, Sweet
My dwindling stock continues to provide a fantastic, cocoa infused cup of calm that is delicious. Steeping 6 good sized pearls with boiling water at 2, 2.5 and 3 minutes yields three enjoyable experiences with some variation in presence of the cocoa taste. Enjoying my last cups of the harvest of 2013. What a great tea.
I have removed all sense of rationing these magic pearls as my order is in and soon to ship. I will leave my rating where previously set and await the new harvest.
As the shipment of the new harvest approaches I hope that the 2015 harvest rises to, or dare I say exceeds, the quality of the harvest of 2013. Hope springs eternal :)
Flavors: Cocoa, Malt
Smooth, sweet flavors and a very nice cup of tea to start the day.
Great for multiple steeps as the full leaves show their strength into the 3rd steep.
Flavors: Bread, Caramel, Honey, Raisins
Ah… To think that not all that long ago I didn’t know TeaVivre existed. :)
I am not the learned taster that some here clearly are and my palette clearly is not as definitive (heck, I don’t even like sweet potatoes so I don’t eat them), but I know what I like and I like this tea.
Granted this is my first effort with it and I like to play with different leaf quantities, water temp and steep time to extract the best flavor for me, but I like this black. To me it is not an “in your face” flavor burst that I like in other blacks but it has a nice flavor that lingers.
More to follow.
The tea that began my introduction to loose tea continues to be one of my favorites and while nostalgia certainly plays a part, the sublime taste of this tea is one to behold.
Warm notes of cocoa permeate the richly colored liquid. While I sit back and enjoy, I remind myself that my current inventory of the pearls continues to dwindle as I await TeaVivre’s successful location of dragon pearls that meet their quality standards.
Still playing with this one and enjoy the variety of tastes I am getting. Smoky but not overwhelming and the undercurrent of malt and spice is really quite nice.
This reserved black is a perfect way to start the day but also can serve very nicely for my 3p cup.

Continue to enjoy this tea and while I get different notions of flavors based upon temperature and steep time, the smoothness of this tea continue to impress.
Shelf life being what it is, time to reorder so the tin is full.
Flavors: Cocoa, Malt, Molasses
Having now had numerous efforts with this tea, I confirm my rating and find this black tea simply delicious. I have experimented with temperature and steep time and while there is a difference in flavor produced, I experienced no difference in enjoyment.
This tea will be in my cupboard for as long as I can obtain it.
