I wish there was a bit more peach here. Mostly I taste earthy and slightly musty herbs, which I guess must be the strawberry leaf, and then the tartness of the citrus and the hibiscus. There is a touch of peach there, but I feel like the tart flavors overpower it a bit and make this taste more citrusy than anything.

Flavors: Citrus, Earthy, Herbaceous, Herbs, Hibiscus, Lemon, Musty, Peach, Tart

Preparation

Would you care to try a little sample of Papa Don’t Peach? (Savoy) Not a bit of tartness in it at all—just peaches and a little creaminess. Toss me a message if you are interested.

Happy to be finishing this off, and it’s a few years old now. I can’t really taste any black currant anymore, though it’s still quite yummy with just the rosemary and touch of cinnamon.

Definitely one I would repurchase when it comes around in the winter, but probably not this year as I really need to sip down some more teas. We’ll see though! :P

drank Vanilla Chai by URBANTEADEALERS
4380 tasting notes

Trying to get back into drinking some of my tea swap samples…

This one is just okay. It’s quite bland for a chai, and I don’t notice a ton of vanilla either. There’s definitely a touch, but mostly it tastes like generic black tea with a bit of clove and maybe cardamom.

Flavors: Clove, Spices, Sweet, Thin, Vanilla, Watery, Wax

Preparation

I really enjoyed this one! Nice combination of bright and juicy orange with the addition of sweet strawberry and a touch of herbaceous lemongrass. I think the amount of hibiscus is just right – it adds tartness but doesn’t overpower the fruit flavors and make it taste generic. I wasn’t sure how I would feel about the lemongrass, but I think it helps add a different citrus note and keeps the orange from tasting too much like candy or vitamin C tablets.

Will definitely have to reorder some in the future!

drank Mango Fruit Tea by Harney & Sons

The last of the Harney fruit tisanes! This doesn’t taste like mango at all to me, maybe a tiny bit like dried mango slices? It’s really good cold-steeped though (with a touch of sugar), sweet and fruity with a gentle tartness to it. It’s definitely on the lighter end of the hibiscus spectrum, as far as Harney’s offerings go. I’m trying to decide what fruit this actually reminds me of, and maybe it’s closer to apricot mixed with orange and a bit of strawberry? It’s tasty, and I’ll be ordering more (along with most of Harney’s fruit blends).

This one wasn’t bad, but I feel like the name is misleading. The ginger in this is quite strong, and it ends up tasting more like a ginger beer sort of tisane than a pineapple one, and I don’t taste any lemon at all. It’s still refreshing, and the pineapple flavor is noticeable, just not what I was expecting given the name.

Flavors: Earthy, Fruity, Ginger, Pineapple, Sweet

That would break my heart.

This sounded good, but ended up being just okay. I don’t think I would’ve known it was raspberry or pomegranate, as it was just a bit generally fruity and sweet. There was an odd hint of soapiness to it for some reason, not sure if it’s just the flavoring or what.

I ended up adding a spoonful of hibiscus to the second pitcher, and it added some much-needed tartness. I don’t notice that soapy taste anymore either. So it ended up being nice, but not one I would reorder.

Flavors: Apple, Fruity, Soap, Sweet

Not sure why I ordered this, maybe it was because of the turmeric? An apple tea with turmeric does sound interesting.

However, this just tastes like a generic fruit tisane to me – just apple, rosehip, and hibiscus. It’s not terrible or anything, it’s tart but the hibiscus isn’t strong enough to make me pucker. Just painfully generic IMO.

Flavors: Acidic, Apple, Hibiscus, Tart

This looked and smelled promising, with chunks of dried apple and warm spices. However, I’m finding in the cup that I mostly just taste the star anise, backed by a bit of woody rooibos. Maybe a touch of cinnamon as well, but no trace of apple at all…

These Winterwoods teas and I don’t seem to be vibing ha ha… But that’s why I appreciate it when companies offer sample sizes! :P

drank Red Fruits by Tea Quiero
4380 tasting notes

Swap teabag!

This is light, but nice. It’s a bit different than other red fruits blends I’ve tried, a bit fresher and tarter? Mostly I’m tasting tangy raspberry, with perhaps some cherry in there as well. I prefer fresher, tangier fruit flavors so enjoying this one. It is a touch light on the actual tea flavor though.

Bio

Hi, I’m Cameron!

I’m a 30-something software engineer currently living in Austin, Texas with my husband and our two pugs, Gobo and Ume. I tend to cycle between my different hobbies, and they include piano, knitting, video games, board games, miniature painting, planners, bento, Korean skincare, and – of course – TEA! But really, what I’m best at is “collecting” hobby-related things… ;)

I prefer my tea lukewarm or at room temperature and without milk or sugar. I steep Western style, and fluctuate between using big mugs or small teapots depending on the season.

I am always up for a swap! Just let me know if you’d like to try something in my cupboard.

Tea Preferences:
I enjoy both flavored and unflavored teas in many forms. These days, I drink mostly flavored teas, and I tend to gravitate most toward black, green, oolong, and herbal varieties. I do have a special fondness for straight Japanese green teas, however.

I do not sweeten my teas, and pre-sweetened teas are usually too sweet for me. I also do not enjoy stevia (or monkfruit, etc.).

I tend to reach for fruitier flavors rather than desserty ones these days, but I do have favorites from both categories. Willing to try anything once! There are a few ingredients/flavors that aren’t generally my jam, such as coconut, rose, lavender, and chocolate flavoring. But I also have teas that I love with some of those things, too! :)

Favorite Companies:
3 Leaf
Bird & Blend
Dammann Frères
Harney & Sons
Kyoto Obubu Tea Farms
Lupicia
Old Barrel Tea Co
Simpson & Vail
Taiwan Tea Crafts
TeaVivre

Tea Rating Scale:
90-100: Outstanding! Permanent cupboard resident
80-89: Great – a possible staple
70-79: Good, but I wouldn’t buy it
60-69: It’s decent
50-59: Meh… I may or may not have finished the cup
40-49: Ick. Couldn’t finish it.
00-39: Repulsive, I spat it out

I will sometimes refrain from rating a tea if I feel I’m too biased due to my personal dislikes, or if I suspect the sample has been compromised by age or scent contamination.
