4 Tasting Notes
The 4th tea out of 5 that I bought from DavidsTea. This one I actually was pretty okay with. It was very pretty and with a tiny bit of sugar and it tasted pretty good. Something stupid in my mind decided to add a little drop of milk to cool it down. BIG MISTAKE! It went all bitter and gross. I think this is a tea I would get again if opportunity arose, but I learned my lesson about adding anything but sugar to this one!
Preparation
Tea #3/5 that I have tried. I was wary of this one as I am not a fan of peppermint tea. My intuition was right. I really wanted to like it as I would have loved so dearly to relax. But I just could not make myself to like it :(
Preparation
So, this is tea #2/5 that I am trying from my first ever round of DT. I opened the packet and I was overwhelmed by the smell! I’ve never been to places like Hawaii or anything remotely tropical, but this is what I imagine it would smell like! It smelled like pineapple and coconut! I really wanted to try this iced so I decided to brew it hot. When brewed, it takes on a greenish colour that reminded me a bit of broth. I took a little sip of it hot, it wasn’t too bad. I added some sugar and took another sip and it was a little better. I put it in the freezer to cool it down. When it was cool, I took it out of the freezer and added ice. Not bad! Then I decided to try adding a little bit of milk, which made it even better! I have to say, This one isn’t my favourite, it’s a little too weak! Also, for some reason, all I’m getting is weak coconut flavour. But I think that if I experiment with it more, I’ll be able to tolerate it enough to finish it! For some reason, I think it would be really good in a fruit muffin!
Preparation
So, I went to DAVIDsTEA for the second time ever the day before yesterday and one of the flavours that I chose for a sample was Birthday Cake. I am now ready to try it out. I open the bag and the smell is very sweet! Almost maple/vanilla-like with a hint of something else there. This is the first time I try a loose leaf tea hot, so I’m a little nervous! So, when brewed it is a reddish amber colour and smells very much like it did while dry! I first had a sip when it had nothing added. I wasn’t a fan because it didn’t taste like much. I was a little disappointed. But then, I added milk and sugar! Then it tasted a lot better. The taste does remind me a bit of maple/vanilla and it isn’t that bad at all! I think I may have under steeped it by a minute or two. I’m glad I got enough to play around with! Next time, I will brew it a little longer! But so far, this is decent! It’s VERY sweet, so it won’t be one that I reach for all the time! But when I’m in the mood for something sweet, This will be a good treat!
