8 Tasting Notes
First infusion i thing less than 10 seconds gave me an amazing experience. I thought that sheng can give u nothing but punch in the face either with its overwhelming richness or pungent astringency. This one was different. Rich yes, but not overwhelming, rather like soft pillow that surrounds your face when going to bed in tent during summer trip. Very sweet, i have found that sweetness similar to Heart of the old tree from Mandala Tea, its awesome tasting experience – especialy when u wait and see what happens on your tongue a while after drinking it. For me – pure raisins in carmel. Guess i might give up all the sweets and just drink that tea instead. Further infusions brough another dimmensions to the tea, rising the astringency – the longer brewing time, the more punchy it becomes.
It smells and tastes wonderfull, so nicely that i made full 1/2 liter cup of tea by mixing half of every infusion i was making (another half i was drinking to taste it) and got it by my bed so i could sip it whenever i wanted (didnt lasted long tho :)). Very nice sheng.
Flavors: Caramel, Raisins, Sweet, Warm Grass, Tobacco
I love that Shu, its sweet, it has all the plesant notes that makes me relaxed, for me there are notes of smoked plum, cinnamon, cacao. Its taste changes in mouth from something intense to subtle at the end. The tea having that “i want more and more” factor. The smell is sweet with some umami elements and the taste deffinietly follows it. When im drinking it, it has some similar notes to raw puerhs, yet they are not dominant, its more as an impression than main note:)
The cake is very loosy so tea tends to fall off the cake, yet it does not change its taste which is awesome :)
Perfect tea for autumn and winter days for sure!
Flavors: Caramel, Mushrooms, Plum, Wood
Sweetness, bitterness then sweetness then bitterness. Switness always stronger that bitterness (in fact bitterness is just a cherry on the top, its hardly noticeable in between all of the floral notes). Apricotish. With beautifull golden up to light brown colour. Chilling and relaxing. Sitting in old chair and enjoying the breathtaking view. Sleeping. Dreaming of summer. Those are my expressions when drinking it. Very long peach and apricot aftertaste. Beautifull smell which reminds me blooming grass. Awesome.

Yes yes yes. I came back home from delegation, thirsty like hell and i was thinking – which one to drink. Ive decided to go for second part of the sample i got from Scott, just to give it another try. Previously i have brewed it with boiling water for more than 10 seconds few first steeps (8g of tea), now – since i wanted something to relax with, i went with 5g of tea and 5 secs first one and i was stunned. Very floral, very sweet, very refreshing yet relaxing and with the scratch at the back coming from tasty bitternes hardly noticeable with first infusions. Second one and 2 more i went with 10 seconds. First colder water – this one got me some more bitter notes then again with boiling and it came back to sweetnes playing first violin. I dont know what changed the experience – either me beeing tired, or tea airing 2 weeks more, or experimenting with temperature and timing – yet i have found tea that put me on my back floating with couds aside. Now when im checking my mouth – still sweetness with little camomile and sunflower notes. Enjoyable like hell :)
Driking it today. I was thinking that ill start it with “omg crazy shit, every sheng is different” sentence, but then i have realized its so obvious that it would be very dumb :P
Dry leaves smels good, very good and – when i have smelled them at the morning shortly after waking up i got hungry immediately. Hungry for eating but also for drinking that smell. The first comparison that came to my mind was fresh cut sunrays, it got even stronger when i have firstly sniffed wet leaves – had to hold the table otherwise i would faint out of awe. Usual gongfu brewing, and i can explore different layers of this tea – from basic one (pungent – tho not that hard) which is similar to the teas i tried so far, then second one which is mild and sweet, to next one that brough “something like mix of the coffie with black tea” effect and wanted me to go deeper till the refreshing waterfall. I will update later when im done with infussions, so far im on very interesting tour :)
Update: some infusions later strong punch in the face with bitterness but still followed by sweetness and some acerb notes.
Update: end of the day – strong bitterness coming out, just strong enough to call it a night :)
Flavors: Dark Bittersweet, Hot Hay, Summer
I have just started my “sheng samples trying week” with this tea and im kinda suprised. I have started safely – first brewings were rinse, flash, flash, 10 secs; i was expecting much more bitterness (not that im a huge lover of that taste, just considering it as young tea i would expect a punch in my throat) while i have found very enjoyable bitterness that was transforming into sweetness. Magic happens im telling you. Nice golden liquor, very fresh and enjoyable smell, like sunflowers and hay i used to lay on at summer, plus some freshness – hard to describe for me, like breath of fresh air. Totaly relaxing tea.
Update: after somewhere arround 6th infusion it has changed – bitterness apeared quite intense, few more infusions later the hay notes and sweetness apeared intensively again but overall taste and smell was fading out.
Flavors: Flowers, Hay, Summer
Much was said about that tea, for me the biggest impression was the coffie with milk/chocolate flavour , flower sweetnes and roasted almods aftertaste. Creamy and full in mouth – i havent found it too complex, but ill give it another try to check if something changed. Not too expensive makes it a very nice addition to the collection.
Flavors: Almond, Chocolate, Creamy, Flowers, Sweet
Oh my, awesome ripe experience. Extremely creamy and sweet – sweetest pu-erh experience so far with a noticeable backnotes of fresh fruits and spicyness. Very full in mouth, long after drinking i still have its taste and can activate it just by making a windmill with my tongue – thats crazy :). Ive just could not stop myself from drinking it more and more. For a while i have felt like small child in the playground.
Flavors: Caramel, Dried Fruit, Peach, Plum, Raisins
