1999 CNNP "Old Tree" Ripe

This tea has an amazing ‘aged aroma’, really ancient and calming and not too much fishy or fermented flavour. The liquor is so smooth, full-bodied and pleasing.

First infusion:
I brewed it with not enough leaf and a bit too much water I think, so it didn’t taste as strong or flavourful, but the overall effect is still amazing.

Second infusion:
Much stronger mushroom and savoury flavour.

Wow. Just a great tea. I’m no master in ripes from this era, but for me this is something special. Incredibly smooth, solid, gentle, well-flavored, and consistent. It’s got a great chi. It’s a perfect ripe flavor, not overpowering in any way. For those looking for a super super suave and smooth aged ripe, this is the one. Good good tea

Oh my, awesome ripe experience. Extremely creamy and sweet – sweetest pu-erh experience so far with a noticeable backnotes of fresh fruits and spicyness. Very full in mouth, long after drinking i still have its taste and can activate it just by making a windmill with my tongue – thats crazy :). Ive just could not stop myself from drinking it more and more. For a while i have felt like small child in the playground.

light steep: i taste/smell; slight earth/fermentation, minerals, forest floor, autumn leaves. almost no wood, camphor. sweet. light sweetness

medium steep: light earth/fermentation, forest floor, autumn leaves, minerals. slight wood, camphor. almost no mud taste. medium sweetness.

heavy steep: light earth/fermentation, wood, camphor, minerals, forest floor, , autumn leaves. slight mud. medium sweetness.

all in all this is really yummy thus why i rate it a 100

Mm delicious. It’s full self was not revealed until the 5th steep, and kept going strong into the 6th -8th steep. Gorgeous red color. After trying the sample I purchased a 250 gram cake. I hope to find more puehrs like this!

A clean tasting ripe pu-erh devoid of the fermentation “wo dui” taste and aroma. A very interesting shou brick with nice age on it. Sweetness detected throughout the steepings. Quite smooth in the mouthfeel and throat
The large tea leaves yield a dark and clear burgundy-brown tea soup. The first steeping is sweet and spicy and my first taste is mellow and bold without any sign of rough edges. There is a full and smooth body, with nice depth and a lovely flavor palette going on with an appealing mix of wood and leather. The tea liquor has an enduring sweetness to it and a decent aftertaste
Overall: Very clean fermentation and excellent aged taste; flavors of wood, honey and spices. After a total of six or seven infusions, the flavor starts to weaken. I am a fan of this tea.
