From Yunnan Sourcing

This tasty black tea is composed of Spring 2016 wild arbor assamica tea from the same plants as we used for our Spring 2014/15 Da Hu Sai village raw pu-erh cake!

Tea is picked, fried, rolled, wilted for about 24 hours in warm shaded area and then finally dried to produce this lovely pure assamica black tea.

The feeling of the tea is thick in the mouth, the taste peppery, floral and sweet all at once. This traditional process for Yunnan black tea dates back more than 100 years!

Area: Da Hu Sai Village of Lincang (Yunnan Province)

Brewed this western style this morning, 3g in 300ml for 5 minutes. Much more balanced than it was gongfu. You get a nice mix of the maltiness and the strong body, which didn’t happen gongfu. This is good without being a standout brewed this way and might be something I drink on mornings when I prefer a stronger cup. Might also be a good choice for someone that likes adding a splash of milk (thinking of my dad here).

This is an excellent malty black tea. It does seem to have some caramel notes to it. Those are really the only two notes I get but I just brewed this western style.

I steeped this one time in a 16oz Teavana Glass Perfect Tea Maker/Gravity Steeper with three tsp leaf and 200 degree water for 3 minutes.
