From Upton Tea Imports

This is a full-bodied Ceylon green tea. The dry leaves have a fresh aroma, and produce a delightful, balanced cup, with notes of ripe red apple and malt. The gentle sweetness is perfectly balanced by the mild pungency.

Another sample here from Upton – I decided to get this after reading Triumph’s review of it, thought it sounded kinda interesting.

This is definitely more on the full bodied side of green tea, which is appealing to me. It does have an earthy, almost woody note in addition to some vegetal ones. I also am picking up on the apple flavors of the tea. Upton’s note says Malt but it doesn’t seem terribly malty to me. The finish here is quite pungent with a plate cleansing astringency. This was interesting to try but I found it a bit acrid for my tastes, perhaps I will try a shorter steep next time… I have enjoyed trying it, but don’t think it will be a repurchase item for me.

One does not immediately think of Ceylon when looking for green teas, but this is a wonderful selection. The dry leaf has a nice apricot aroma which turns to apple when the leaf is infused. The taste is a mixture of hearty/earthy and flowery. It actually reminds me of a raw pu-erh in many respects. This green definitely stands out from the crowd!

This is my absolute favorite green tea. It’s brothy, smoky, and sweet all at once. I am going crazy that I cannot find it anymore, nor can I find any links to purchasing any teas from this estate. Does anyone know why green teas from this region are now impossible to find? I’ve been rationing the precious little amount of this tea that I have left and will be borderline inconsolable once it’s gone.
