Don’t know what’s prompted this uncharacteristic adventurous streak…but I took the other half-packet and stirred it into a bowl of cooked stone-cut oats. Chai oatmeal! May have to lay hands on a larger supply of this for culinary purposes this fall.

ashmanra

Ooo, that sounds pretty tasty!

Terri HarpLady

Wow! That’s a great idea!

Nicole

Sounds good!

Nice to know I’m not the only one who gets a little crazy with their tea.

This was super tasty today! Teaspoon Tipu’s Instant Chai + Hot Water + Teaspoon Brown Sugar + 1/2 mug of milk = easy breezy delicious treat! I am in super cleaning and cooking mode today!

Cofftea

This reminds me to put brown sugar on my grocery list. I’ve also found that boiling water makes it less gritty and there’s no need to heat the milk since the water is so hot. LOVE this stuff!

Atacdad

Ok, you’ve peaked my interest. Just orderd the 4 oz. bag for a try.

Cofftea

I buy this by the pound :)

ChariTea

Its great! I made some more this morning since I didn’t have much time before going to work. So easy to shake and sip too.

Cofftea

Shaking hot liquids doesn’t work for me lol.

Atacdad

I tried shaking to make hot chocolate once…eruptions of hot, sticky, sugared chocolate milk resulted.

Made this as a latte today and it was just amazing. I used mostly milk and added a little half and half for a creamy touch. Then I topped it off with whipped cream. I bit decadent but I am worth it. :-)

Heck yeah you are! Did you buy this while the code was active? Still waiting for mine- I ordered a pound for myself and 4oz for my neighbor- husband of the lady that introduced me to it. (She has an ucler so she can’t have it for at least 6 months)

RachanaC (Rachel)-iHeartTeas

No I bought it about 2 weeks ago. Wow, I don’t think could wait 6 months but that was super nice of you to pick some up.

Cofftea

Well she has to wait.

RachanaC (Rachel)-iHeartTeas

I know, it just stinks that’s all.

So, super storm hurricane whatever hitting today, raining already and I made it halfway to the office before deciding not to get trapped at work. Reading and cocoa today instead. Pj’s likely. Was going to have chai, but eww. I just ruined a perfectly good cup of coffee by adding a touch of this. I know, I bastardized this tea. Since this is the third time I have attempted to drink this, each time dressing it up more and more, I think can review with some authority though.

I know several people like this, in fact that is why I got it. Maybe they just sent me an off bag, but this is awful. My boyfriend claims it’s a big bag of ground coriander. I have never eaten a coriander, or to my knowledge seen one in the wild. Not sure I can describe it. There is a little ground ginger in this bag, and some cinnamon if I taste really hard, but mostly there is a bitter aromatic herb that has gripped my soft palate and is accumulating there making me kinda ill. I have tried this with some water, milk and sugar, good cream and honey. Pouring those out was sad, but losing a perfectly good cup of french press coffee was the last straw. If my favorite Indian restaurant doesn’t blow or swim away in this storm I will go find out what herb blend he uses.

Bonnie

Probably it’s not the coriander which would be sweet unless it’s bad or something. Is there clove in it? That would be bitter. If you’ve gone this far with the mix and it’s aweful, it should become room freshener!

Londo Mollari

Hmm. There is clove in it, I guess that might be part of it, but I usually love clove. I loved the gum back when it was around, I used to smoke them, even chewed whole cloves when I was a kid. If it tasted or smelled like that I think I would be ok with it. Maybe it is ground ginger? I love fresh ginger but I know ground it tastes and smells completely different. It’s a pumpkin pie spice. Nutmeg? Lol! I am about to go taste my spice rack just to sort this out!

ashmanra

A lot of the Indians around here out black pepper and turmeric, which really turns me off.

Peppery and convenient. Needs milk (dairy or non) of some sort, though, as it is too intense to drink on its own. Good for cold days.

Cofftea

I actually like this sans milk as well (great in drip coffee if you’re a coffee drinker)- but then again I drink things I need to sign a waiver for:) I’m getting low, but I think I may have some today between furnace runs.

Geoffrey Norman

I received a batch of their decaf instant. Agreed, best with milk. But it is the best quickie chai I’ve come across.

Cofftea

Geoffrey, you mean the concentrate? I’m under the understanding that this is the entry for the powdered form of the instant. I use the terms concentrate and instant to mean different things when refering to chai, but that’s just me.

Geoffrey Norman

You could be right. Couldn’t tell from the description on the tea profile.

This chai alone is pretty spicy, but tastes as if you brewed it on the stove for an hour, which is a plus since it is instant! What I do to combat the spiciness, is add equal parts hot cocoa and chai mix to steamed milk. The cocoa/chai mix is a really tasty treat, and the cocoa combats the spiciness of the chai a bit.

WOW! Do not use your normal tea measuring spoon! My first cup went down the drain…it was actually viscous at the bottom of the mug! Seriously, the directions are for 1 teaspoon to 1 cup of liquid (50% milk and boiling water). I don’t like it with milk (weird, I know) and figure about 1/2 tsp per cup of boiling water. Stir well, Stir often (keeps the solids in suspension).
Heavy clove and black pepper tastse. Cardamon in there too I’m thinking. This is the “Real Thing”…Soooo good.

LOVE this. But I like the full teaspoon. I’ve also found boiling water necessary then just stirring til it’s cool enough to drink. Definitely cuts down on the chunky factor verses just using water cool enough to drink right away. You could also try what I do with matcha- when you get to the end just put a splash more hot water in to drink the last of the “sludge”.

Appreciate the sample, fellas! But….alas…

NOT a favorite of mine. I followed directions. Instant tea, Im sorry to say, should not need straining. and straining. and picking out little leaf dusts and fishing out little half broken pieces of clove.

Too much work to even enjoy it.

Tipu's Chai

Hey Amber, Tipu’s Chai here. I’m not sure what sample you received as we stopped calling it “Microground Instant” last year when we changed the formula. We don’t call it “instant” any more for just that reason – expectations! Chai is made with lots of spices and we didn’t want to use extracts and filler to create a truly “instant” chai. So there will be spices in your cup and we believe that is a sign of REAL chai. It also creates the full bodied chai kick that so many of our fans love. It isn’t for everyone, especially if you don’t want any spice sediment left in the cup (makes the last sip unfriendly). But we think it makes a lovely flavor and allows the health benefits of the spices to really come through. Thanks for taking the time to review us and good luck on your journey through the vast land of tea!

wow, i love this chai! I’m very particular with my masala chai- i find that most mixtures usually taste only of cardamom. this one is just right! it’s peppery, gingery, clove-y…sort of like a strong gingersnap cookie but with cardamom. i added it to hot milk and a little sugar. lovely!!

The DJBooth

peppery, gingery, clovey….I like it!
