From thepuriTea

Our Silver Needle white tea is made entirely from the hand-plucked silver buds (also known as “white tips” or “Bai Hao”) of the tea plant. Based on appearance, flavor and aftertaste, we selected it from the best of Fujian, China’s early spring 2009 crop. This rare white tea’s fuzzy, silver-green buds have a honey-like, woodsy aroma and a canary yellow infusion. A rich, velvety texture complements delicately sweet flavors of wildflowers, honey and chestnuts. A refreshingly floral finish rounds out this quenching, easy-to-drink tea. Silver Needle can be brewed multiple times and is delicious alongside light vegetable soups or mild, creamy desserts.

Mmm. I was starting to think that I just didn’t like white tea, but this is lovely.

The dry leaf smells a bit like raisins. It brews to a very, very light yellow (definitely not canary yellow, which is too bad, because that would have been exciting!). The aroma of the tea is similar to the dry leaf, but a bit sweeter. Two things stand out to me in the taste — honey and chestnuts. The honey is pretty hard to miss. It comes out most in the aftertaste, a sort of mild sweetness. I probably would have called the main taste walnut rather than chestnut, but that may be because I eat more walnuts than chestnuts, so that’s what comes to mind first. Either way, it’s nutty-sweet and yummy. It’s not a tea I would ever drink during the day, but it’s nice to have just before bed, when I’m reading and just want something warm to sip.

Nice. Dry florals, a light buttery taste and relatively heavy mouthfeel comprise the body of this tea. Unfortunately, It is slightly astringent (not bitter) and there is that faint taste of hay that I’m not really fond of. However, the hui gan really delivers as the florals return and trail off into a pleasant sweetness reminiscent of high quality honey.

4g tea
12 oz water

The steep looks almost as if the water didn’t change color. However there is definitely an aroma and color to this. It is woodsy and has quite a sweet finish that lingers gently in the aftertaste. This tea inspires a taste similar to its aroma. Its not bad.
