Never thought I would see them try to make a sea salt caramel into a tea. Then again it seems like Teavana will try anything. Well from the very first smell I thought it would be a hit. Wafts of chocolate and cream first hit you when you open your tin. I honestly didn’t notice much of a smell as it was steeping and the wet smell is just.. there. Honestly, the flavor isn’t bad but the liquid is not fun to look at. Like hmm… what is all that floating in my cuppa?

From the Great Canadian Tea Box Round 5

I like chocolate, I like salted caramels, I like salted caramel chocolates, and I’m determined to try all! the things!!! so I tried this against my better judgement and it’s just not that great. This might be one of the older teas that have gone a little off because it’s oily and mostly tasteless, save for general sweetness and a kind of cheap, waxy chocolate flavour.

It’s alright…. it’s a weird flavour if you think about it, so even if it’s fairly accurate it’s still weird.

First steep I turned into a latte with International Delight Vanilla because it was too oily. Turns out this chocolate-y latte drink.
Second steep (steeped forever) straight is actually not bad.

It’s fine for a whatever tea.

Herbal TTB

Teavana is very hit and miss for me. A couple of their teas are staples in my cupboard, as I find them to be delicious and unique blends. Others I like, but can easily find substitutes at an affordable price point. And some of their blends are just plain awful!

I think this falls in the “nice, but not worth the money” category. It brews up dark and cloudy with a distinct caramel chocolate flavor that’s bold and not too sweet. The sea salt just serve to intensify the other flavors; the tea isn’t salty at all. Overall, this is a pleasant dessert tea and I appreciate that it’s herbal and can be enjoyed right before bed. But I’ve had plenty of other dessert teas I enjoy more and wouldn’t pay Teavana’s prices to re-purchase this one!

Got this the other day as part of a Christmas gift and thought I might as well try it. It’s not bad. A blend of chocolate and caramel with s slight salty taste. It is pretty much as described in taste by Teavana although they overplay just how good it is. The brew itself is slightly cloudy in truth. It tastes good but it is by no means spectacular.

I brewed this onoce in a 16oz Teavana Glass Perfect Teamaker with 3 tsp leaf and boiling water for 5 min.

Flavors: Caramel, Chocolate

Boiling 5 min, 0 sec 3 tsp 16 OZ / 473 ML
