From Teavana

This legendary green tea is a top ten tea in China hailing from the Zhejiang Province. Follow the famed crooked river on your trip through Zheijian and steep in carefully handmade flat jade green leaves that create a mellow-sweet taste with chestnut overtones. Natural sweetness from the jade green leaf establishes a complex palette in this renowed sweet nutty tea. IMPERIAL RESERVE

Lightly sweet with a smooth texture and hint of lingering chestnut.

How to Prepare:
Use 1 teaspoon of tea per 8oz of water. Heat water to 175-180 degrees and steep tea for 1.5-2 minutes. 2oz of tea equals 25-30 teaspoons.

Ingredients: Pure, organic green tea.

Thank you taipwnsu for the sample!

Tasting #1 – Steep Time 2 Minutes
Common aroma from the tea, but remarkable flavor. Very light grassy flavor is incredibly pleasant.

Tasting #2 – Steep Time 4 Minutes
There is now a sweetness to the aroma as the tea has deepened in color. The grassy flavor has become rounder, fuller, and even more delicious.

Tasting #3 – Steep Time 6 Minutes
The sweet aroma is very clearly honey now. The flavor is now evolving, like it might become bitter or astringent, but it is just the the tiniest sharpness.

Tasting #4 – Steep Time 8 Minutes
The sharpness is more distinct, and reminiscent of a typical dragonwell. But unlike a typical dragonwell, the sharpness hasn’t morphed into a bitter or astringent bite. Its a complex part of the tea that makes it enjoyable.

COLD BREW
Smooth and delicious, easy to drink and enjoyable.

This is a solid Dragonwell, but not my favorite. I liked it a lot until I tried the Pre-rain Dragonwell from Red Blossom Tea (my favorite Dragonwell). It’s buttery and vegetal and full bodied enough for me to have for breakfast. I also like that I can get a couple of steeps out of one basket. For the price, I would rather get Red Blossom, but I do enjoy this tea.

I love this a stuff! Nutty, vegetable aroma.. traditional dragonwell steeping method is the best for this tea and it guarantees exceptional flavour and multiple aromatic infusions. Don’t miss out. The only better longjing I’ve had is the fresh harvest from verdant tea (review coming soon). Longjing teas always have a home in my cupboard and this sits near the front.

I had the opportunity to travel to china a few years ago and I had to pick up authentic dragon well right where they process it, I loved it.

I went to Teavana and said what the heck, let me go see how this compares and I must say they are of similar quality. I put perhaps two pinches worth of tea and just left it there to steep(that’s how I was taught to drink dragon well)

Aroma- mellow, relaxation inducing, earthy.
Taste – (no sweetener added ). Again mellow, nothing really jumps out. All flavors are real toned and coalesce to form this buttery, mellow, earthy, slightly roasted flavor.
Aftertaste- a bit dry but that’s expected.

I would recommend this tea. As an avid tea drinker, I’ve encountered countless overpowering-tannic green teas with a bitter after taste, this is not the case with this tea.

A nice quality Dragonwell, very mellow and slightly syrupy. I can resteep this one 2-3 times before it loses it’s flavor.

Smooth and mellow, with a gorgeous green tea flavor and nutty overtones. This is a terrific green tea for breakfast just by itself. A slice of organic lemon brightens the flavor but it isn’t necessary. My favorite green so far.

An all around good cup of tea. I’d consider this one of my daily drivers. The smell has an excellent, light and sweet aroma. The taste is a medium to full bodied as far as green teas go. Vegetal and bold.

I typically steep this twice before tossing and the second steep is a lighter version of the first. Much more medium bodied than full with the same vegetal flavor. A nice all around tea and it’s not very expensive (considering other teas at Teavana).

Good, but not top of the line really. I love Dragon Well tea, so this is a nice middling between super high quality and neverbuyitever versions, but the price doesn’t really match the quality.

Nice green tea. I didn’t get a great buttery mouth feel from this one, a little bit but not as much as I was expecting. I found this one had more of an astringent finish than a pre-Qing Ming version I have from another vendor. Pretty good, but I won’t be replenishing as there are so many other great tea suppliers out there to try.
