the world is unsettled these days. i have no explanations. some say astrology predicts it, others say there are periods of time where this is just how it goes…. i just wish i could help more.

in the meantime, this tea settles.

sipdown! (170) Not bad…down 8 today and tried a few of my samples from the teafairy. Still have more in me though now i have to run some errands so we can get back and make the roast for tonight! I quite like this one, so of course i’m torn now since i might be able to get over to their chicago store next week. To order, or not to order…that IS the question. Long story short: this is a tasty citrusy herbal blend. The main flavors I’m getting are lemongrass, pomelo, and the sweetness from the licorice root. I like it and would drink it again!

There’s something very lovely about the dry leaf aroma; it has a brightness to it and a sweetness to the citrus elements. I’m admittedly not super familiar with the taste of pomelo so I wont even bother to try to comment on the authenticity/presence of that flavour note but I do detect something grapefruit like that is sparking curiousity for me…

Steeped up, I unfortunately find this to be a pretty ‘run of the mill’ flavour. There’s an undertone of something nice and citrus-y (grapefruit?) with more body to it, but it’s really swallowed up by the mid sip which is just HEAVILY dominated by lemongrass, and a little apple? Nothing stand out to me – I wish there was something a little more interesting going on in this for me. However, I can find lemongrass teas much more easily if that was a profile that I wanted…

A spectacular blend with lemongrass, pomelo and herbs.
Citrusy, light grassy and some herbal notes of anise.
Without caffeine it’s a good partner for an afternoon or as ice tea.
But it got a new mixture, without bamboo.

This one smelled so good, but then I tasted it.

Oh. Licorice root.

Oh.

Sorry tea. The licorice root and the fact that you taste a little swampish means that you’re going to join the last tea in the sink, and I’m going to go hunt down yet something else to try. Thanks for sharing, MissB, but this one was a total miss. So sad, because it smells amazing.

This is really delightful. The smell of the dry leaf is all grapefruit, and very intense.

I didn’t realize this was an herbal when I was steeping it – I guessed green tea and treated it as such – 80C, 2min. And it’s delicious. The dominant note is grapefruit (I suppose pomelo, though it tastes more like grapefruit than pomelo to me.) Then I get lemongrass and a sweetness that’s reminiscent of coconut. I can’t quite pick out the bamboo, though I’m guessing it’s contributing to the sweet flavour.

Delicious.

Brewed for 10 minutes.

Amazing balance of flavour. The lemongrass is not at all over-powering (just a bit of a flatness in the aftertaste)- the bamboo flavour is able to come through well. Sweetness in the background. There’s some kind of fruity body to this- like I can imagine biting into a fresh pomello. No off-flavouring.
