From TeaGschwendner

In this classic combination, tangy raspberries contrast with decadently creamy chocolate.

Ingredients: Black teas from China, Sri Lanka and India, rooibush tea, cocoa bits, natural and artificial flavor, raspberry pieces.

Preparation: One heaping teaspoon per 8 oz cup of filtered, boiling water. Allow to brew for 2 minutes.

Thanks Amanda for this tone! This is really FAB!

Totally lives up to it’s name! It’s tangy raspberries go perfectly with the dark yet smooth chocolate flavors! I like that this is a black tea and rooibos blend…it adds that little extra natural sweetness to it. Pleasant and pleasing in every way! Delicious!

ScottTeaMan

Do’t really like chocolate, but love anything raspberry-chocolate. Does that make sense?!?

Tommy Toadman

That makes perfect sense, raspberry do seem to go so well with chocolate, this sounds pretty good to me.

Plunkybug

I love raspberry and chocolate together too!

Raspberries and chocolate, chocolate and raspberries. Yep, this tea definitely covers both, and well. Neither are hit-you-on-the-head kind of flavors, yet they’re both still there, like a rich truffle that goes for subtlety. I’m confused as to why there’s rooibos in here though, which adds a bit of a throat-tickling feel that I get from about half of the rooibos teas I try these days.

Thank you to JustJames for sharing this with me! So delicious. I realize now as well that someone had asked for this in a swap (Cavo?) and I mistakenly left it out, thinking she only wanted Simpson & Vail teas to try. Boo on me. :(

thanks Amanda for including this in your sample sale! I really wanted to try this one. Raspberries & chocolate are one of my favorite combinations. My sample looked mostly like black tea.. I didn’t see any chocolate pieces or raspberries, so I figured the flavor was infused in the black tea. But the ingredients list here is listing actual chocolate and raspberry pieces. I love that this is a mixture of black and rooibos teas – I really want to try more black/red blends. Infused, the color is a deep red, almost like it is a rooibos. The fragrance is a lovely chocolate raspberry. I don’t get any tangy raspberries in the flavor, only sweet! I’d say the chocolate flavor is tangier. The chocolate is of a bittersweet or dark variety (my favorite) which REALLY goes well with this base. I’m not sure where the chocolate ends and the black tea begins. It works really well together. There was no astringency at all, unlike the TeaGschwendner Lemon I tried a while ago that was so bitter it was almost impossible to drink as it cooled. This one is nice!

Now this is a chocolate tea. As soon as I smelled this tea, I knew I was getting some, especially since it was only $6.80 for 100g.

It smells very much like chocolate, and just a bit fruity. It actually tastes like chocolate, and the raspberry isn’t artificial or overpowering. It tastes just like raspberry chocolate…just a bit of juicy raspberry followed by smooth chocolate. This was a good choice.

I almost feel like I’m drinking hot chocolate instead of tea!

First cup of the day from the traveling tea box. I dug around a little this morning to find something that I was pretty sure I’d like. In the afternoon I am a little more adventurous in my tea selections, but it’s always a bummer if my first cup in the morning is a big miss. Luckily, this one was a huge winner!

The dry leaves smell like sweet chocolate and raspberries. The tea liquor’s aroma is completely milk chocolate and fresh raspberries – I could smell it as soon as I poured the water over the dry leaves. The flavor is of creamy milk chocolate and a little malty. The sweet raspberry flavor comes in the aftertaste. I’ve had chocolate and raspberry blends before, but they seemed to be more of a dark chocolate flavor. This tea leaves me feeling like I just ate a piece of milk chocolate. It is incredibly creamy and smooth and not artificial tasting at all. A wonderful tea!

-Dry blend has medium black tea leaves and twigs and pieces of red rooibos with cocoa bits.
-Dry leaves smell like sweet chocolate and raspberries. Tea liquor aroma is of milk chocolate and fresh raspberries.
-Tea liquor is a clear medium orange brown color.
-Creamy milk chocolate and malty flavor and finish. Light sweet raspberry and cocoa aftertaste.
-Best with milk and sweetener.
-Excellent tea. Smooth and creamy raspberry and chocolate flavor.

This is a nice tea. I’m usually not a chocolate tea fan, but the chocolate and berry flavors are so well balanced, and the base tea robust enough, that I find myself really enjoying this one. I’m glad I grabbed a sample of it from the teabox. This is good stuff!

Got another sample of this from a trade with ToiToi. I should really keep track of what I’m requesting so I don’t get stuff twice like this. At any rate, I had a lot of bitterness the last time I made this so on some advice, I’m trying this with a cooler temperature this time. Hopefully that will help with the bitterness and astringency I got last time.

I sipped before I stirred and this isn’t too bad unsweetened, but I prefer it sweetened slightly. I’m also eating oatmeal right now, with brown sugar and cranberries, so that’s pretty sweet and will be affecting how the tea tastes, hopefully not for the worse. I didn’t get more than 45 minutes of sleep last night so I need the energy from food. Usually I skip breakfast.

This is still slightly bitter, as I continue to drink this, but it’s now working with the tea rather than against it. Still has a super awesome aftertaste. If I had more to try again, I think I’d try with a shorter steep time as well. Bumping the rating up a couple of points.

Tea of the afternoon……

And my first tea from this company courtesy of Amanda! Thank you, Amanda!

I will admit I was a little apprehensive when I first saw there was rooibos in the blend, but it really works here. It adds a richness to the black tea base. The chocolate and raspberry are pretty much one flavor rather than being able to pick out one over the other, which makes it well blended in my book. Very good! Definitely worth consideration for me!

Usual mug method.
