Cultivar: Qingxin Oolong

Origin: Tian Chi (天池), near Fushou Shan Elevation: 2260-2500 m

Process: Light to medium oxidized, rolled by hand and dried Oolong

The Tian Chi lake is located right next to Fushou Shan. This farm is one of the highest and most sought of in Taiwan. It is the unofficial supplier of Taiwan’s presidential office. Tian Chi is the best plantation of this farm. I’m very pleased that I was able to select it again this spring.

1. View

The dry leaves have vivid and varied green colors. The brew is a bright yellow color with excellent transparency. The open leaves are big and have traces of a higher than usual oxidation level. The tear marks at the stems also confirm they were picked by hand.

2. Scents

The dry leaves have flowery, lavender fragrances. The brew has high notes of spring flowers and white peaches.

3. Taste

Very typical of an outstanding high mountain Oolong. It has lots of sweetness, freshness, energy, aftertaste…

Conclusion: A heavenly high mountain Oolong! Da Yu Ling may be more powerful, but Tian Chi is the most refined high mountain Oolong I’ve encountered!
