Sipdown (689)!

This is maybe my favourite of the sampler!? But it’s a hesitant maybe…

Started off ok; sweeter rooibos based chai with the generic cinnamon/ginger notes to it and a nice, strong vanilla element to the cup as well. Weirdly, it loosely gave me rootbeer float vibes at first between the cinnamon/mild spices and assertive vanilla flavour combined with the natural sweetness of the rooibos base. I left the teabag in while I drank though, and boy oh boy that was a mistake! It got sickly sweet, and the spices took on this unpleasant taste that was almost like body odour. But sweet body odour…

Barf.

Might be ok; but keep steep time short is my advice.

This is a rooibos chai that is extremely cinnamon-heavy. Some citrus, spicy ginger, and more rooibos. I like rooibos chais because they have a nice woody sweetness to them, but the cinnamon flavor is overwhelming and I’ve never liked cinnamon chais. I can’t taste any other chai spices (clove, cardamom, peppercorn), but the lemongrass is a nice addition. I don’t think this tea is well balanced and you taste mostly boring rooibos and cinnamon at the expense of the other ingredients.

I’m not a huge chai drinker, but out of the ones I’ve tried, this very well might be my favorite. Most of the spiciness comes from cinnamon and ginger, making it quite mild for a chai, but there’s an ample amount of each spice so that they really shine. The rooibos base is your average rooibos and definitely fades into the background to let the spices take over.

Lovely plain, even lovelier with a splash of milk and a dash of sweetener !

Very nice! One of the teas I particularly enjoyed from my Tea Forte Advent Calendar. It is a comforting drink after a long day of Christmas shopping. I ordered a Tea Forte Festive Warming Collection for my brother for Christmas and I’m glad to see this one is in it. I hope he’ll enjoy it too.

This is a sample from Tea Forte in their ’Warming Joy" gift package.

They say the samples make a 10 oz. mug of tea, but I have made this (twice now) in an 8 oz. mug and just think the flavor seems weak. A chai should have hunks of spices in it and this really doesn’t, it tastes more like a cinnamon flavored rooibos. I tried adding some of my own ginger in it tonight, but it really needs about 5 more things before it’s a decent chai to my liking. Not recommended unless your version of chai is very light and dainty.

I haven’t been too impressed by anything I’ve tried from Tea Forte so far… bummer

I keep seeing their stuff on Amazon and being tempted by it. But then I look at reviews and back away. But it’s still so tempting.

It’s so adorable, that’s the problem! We tried some of their stuff ages ago and it just wasn’t good, which sucks. But I’m still tempted every time I see thhose cute little teabags.

Not much chai here, mostly a woody rooibos flavor which overwhelms most of the spices. Kind of disappointing.
