Originally native to the Mediterranean, almonds are now domestically cultivated in many places around the globe. References to almonds can be found in the Old Testament, and, even after all these years, almonds still hold an important part in people’s diet. The almond aroma in this tea resembles the heady smell of almond extract.

When brewed the amaretto aroma and taste is reminiscent of marzipan. This Chinese green tea blend has a rich, sweet taste and an aromatic fragrance that will delight your senses! The light, delicate cup has a prominent amaretto aroma, however, the taste is light, delicious and not overpowering. For a treat add a little sweetener – it balances the cup and brings out a little more of the green tea taste.

Ingredients: Green tea, almond pieces and almond flavoring.

This one was a sample from jessiwrites in my awesome package of samples and orders.

I’m honestly getting mostly green tea with a hint of almond. The scent of marzipan-almost almondness is pretty strong, but the taste is nearly as much. I’m not huge on either almonds or green tea, but I’m enjoying this cup.

Also, you guys! I’ve done two swaps with MirandaGou and she seems to have disappeared! I opened my inbox message with her and it’s only my messages to her – she has just vanished! I tried searching for her under “Explore” and nothing.

Steepster is acting weird today, I just added a bunch of new teas but I can’t find them when I do a search on them. I tried re-adding this one and it said it was already in the database. Hopefully the problems sort themselves out.

Anyway this is a standard Chinese green tea that smells kind of almondy and contains slivered almonds in the bag. I was hoping for something a bit more marzipan-y after tasting it, so I decided to add a pinch of stevia. That did help make it more dessert-like. The almond flavor seems natural and not overwhelming. It’s a nice every day afternoon tea, I think. Not too bad with almond milk, which shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone. ;-)

Backlog and Sip Down

I brewed this one iced since the humidity and heat were incredibly high on Saturday after working in the yard. I added honey to the pitcher yet there was still a slight bitterness from the green tea. The almond made an appearance by offering a weird nutty-tart flavor, which wasn’t the most ideal tasting note. Overall, it was meant to be brewed hot, I think. It was too strange as an iced tea blend.
