The mouthfeel of this cup was very, very thin and oily but the taste wasn’t so bad. Caramel is a stretch, but that sweet and syrupy note? Definitely present alongside a milk chocolate/cocoa powder taste that reminded me of a thin cup of instant hot chocolate. The kind we would drink in the heart of winter from thermoses while freezing in the cold. It’s fine.

I had this one at the same time as a much richer chocolate tea, which probably didn’t help this one’s case. You know, I do sort of get a brownie or cookie quality from this. I don’t get any caramel, but the chocolate is more of the baked dessert variety. It’s not very rich, but it tastes decent. I wouldn’t really grab it again when I have so many better alternatives, but this wasn’t bad. The leaf had tons of chocolate in it and not much black tea. It did end up being my favorite Pudtea chocolate tea.

Thanks again very much for these samples, AJRimmer!   Another PudTea I get to try!   Seeing all the cocoa shells and caramel cubes here, I had high hopes.  It is certainly chocolatey with the cocoa shells – they get points for that.  I wouldn’t say it is particularly caramel.  But I appreciate there isn’t stevia here after the stevia bomb of David’s Hot Chocolate.  The black tea is fairly light, but waiting 23 minutes to brew a black tea won’t create the darkest deepest brew.  The second steep was also light, and my main problem with chocolate teas is when they just aren’t dark enough.  Chocolate needs depth.  If the cocoa shells weren’t here, this would be a failed blend.  I like this, but it isn’t as special as I’d hoped.  It mostly reminds me of a couple of Bird&Blend’s teas.
Steep #1  // 1 1/2 teaspoons for full mug // 23 minutes after boiling  // 2-3 minute steep
Steep #2  // 3 minutes after boiling //  4 minute steep

Flavors: Cocoa

I had this one for the first time this week! So far, I like it best out of the two Pudtea chocolate teas I’ve tried, though not as much as chocolate teas from other brands.

I just noticed you had S&V’s China Black Yunnan yesterday, I had S&V’s Tippy Yunnan yesterday. haha :D

Sample from VariaTEA. This one wasn’t bad. It sort of reminded me of brownies, but the caramel side was lacking for me. Chocolately “brownie” feeling came through but not the caramel. Still though, it was a nice first tea from Pudtea to try out. Thanks!

Following the day of trick blends, #31daysofhallotean called for a treat blend aka a favorite blend. While this certainly isn’t my favorite blend in my stash, it’s the one I wanted all day yesterday so I suppose its up there. I like it because it’s really fudgey which sells “brownie” all the way. I do get caramel but the brownie element is the star.
