From Palais des Thés

Thé des Lords is a wonderful Earl Grey with a pronounced bergamot flavor, enhanced with safflower petals.

Of all the Earl Grey teas, this one has the strongest bergamot flavor.

Woooo! 100th tasting note :)

I needed some black tea to go this morning (and I like using tea bags in my thermos) so I grabbed this.

Their tea bags are bizarre, it was like.. a baby sock filled with tea leaves. No room for the tea leaves to expand at all :/ But the tea itself was good, the bergamot was not too terribly strong but definitely present, which is just how I like it.

Flavors: Bergamot

I am glad I saved these last two from my sampler for last. They were less impressive. This one was weaker than most earl grey style teas I’ve had. Not bad, but given the Butiki closing sale blowout (erm, blackout) I just went on, I am trying extra hard to clear out some space before they arrive. This is going in the give away box- I just have too many earl grey teas I actually like to justify keeping one that doesn’t compare.

I am feeling really good about my overall goal to have less mass of the stuff I love, and keep only the quality. I still have an excess (of tea, lipstick, body lotion) but it’s all stuff I love and nothing I am exacerbated with having to use just to use it up!

You guys! So. Much. Tea. I’m going to be glad I brought just enough clothes and I can wad them up on the way back along with a spare empty bag to use as a carry on.

I must not have done my homework well enough because I completely missed that there was a Palais des Thes store in NYC. I stumbled across it completely by accident. We had just had lunch on 71st & Columbus after leaving Central Park. Decided to walk a bit south on Columbus since there was a Magnolia Bakery location within a couple of blocks. Couldn’t find a cab right off so went ahead and walked down a little further and there it was!!

They were sampling this one. It was really, really good. Steeped very well, not bitter at all, medium bergamot with a really nice base. The ladies in the store were super nice as well. This is their smaller boutique store. Apparently there is a larger store in Soho. So happy to have stumbled across this one. I almost bought some of this but decided at the last minute to go with the Blue of London – an Earl with Yunnan. And a couple of other things… My husband is being so patient with all of my tea, chocolate, bakery obsessions… :)

I only live a couple of hours from NYC and still haven’t gone! XD I’ll definitely need to look up all the tea stores ahead of time.

Oh no… I’m going to New York this coming weekend and fear for my wallet and cupboard!

This is my favorite Earl Grey on earth. No other compares and I can’t drink any other kind any more! I’ve been hooked to it for months in both loose (home) and tea bag (school) form.

TRY IT ICED, it’s awesome! Hands down my favorite tea all around.
(Iced: One hour at room temperature water.)

I haven’t tried it with milk or sweeteners, I love the bergamot flavor.

This is the second tea from Palais des Thes that I review, and again it’s the same perfume taste, just lighter. This time, I’m not a fan and don’t like that perfume taste anymore. If I taste more perfume from this producer, I will not buy from them again.

Furthermore… and I can’t believe I’m saying this:
This tea make my nose snotty. Yes, as in mucus.

No milk, no sugar. It still makes me snotty.
