From Lupicia

Momo is black tea scented with fresh, Japanese white peaches. Peach leaves are blended for an added fruitiness. A great choice for making iced tea.

I am really bummed because my first package from the Verdant reserve tea of the month club accidentally shipped to my old address that I just moved from, and is now very far away. I realized it when I saw on the tracking info that there was a notice left for delivery, but I hadn’t received a notice. Then I noticed that the current location was my old town. :(

In an effort to improve my mood, I am having a cup of this, which I got in my happy bag this year. I’m interested to try more of lupicia’s black teas because I have only ever had their black base of their Earl Grey, which I rather like a lot. This one smells very very peachy. I also smell a nice malty, almost bready black tea in it, which really smells good. The result is almost something like peach cobbler. Or maybe toast with peach butter. We got some peach butter in South Carolina the last time we were there and it was fantastic. This tea is reminding me of having that on some toast. The flavor is pretty great too… Ripe, juicy peach, but not too overly sweet so as to be candyish. The black tea base supports it very well and it quite delicious in its own right. The peach flavor is definitely not overwhelming and plays pretty equally with the black tea, not steamrolling over the top of it. I am definitely pleased with this offering and am even more interested to try more of Lupicia’s black teas.

Hope you get your package soon!

Indigobloom

Sounds tasty! hope your tea gets to you soon :)

Dinosara

Thanks… It’s more complicated though because I couldn’t set up a forwarding address for my mail due to some weird beaurocracy, so the package will just be returned to Verdant in 15 days.

Terri HarpLady

bummer about the package! Hopefully you’ll get it eventually.
This Peach tea sounds awesome, I love peaches! I finally have an excuse to place an order from Lupicia.

Kittenna

Terri – I bet you could arrange a swap with someone to try this tea, since a billion of us just picked it up in our Happy Bags. (I won’t have enough to do so, but others easily may!)

Peaches taste like summer to me. Which I miss. A lot.

I seemed to like my cup today quite a bit more than I did last time, though I didn’t change anything up. The peachy flavor didn’t seem artificial (though not nearly as good as Teavivre’s Peach Jasmine Pearls peach flavor), and while black tea isn’t my first choice for peach-pairing, it hit the spot.

Thanks Auggy! YOU seriously ARE Awe-Awe-Awe-SOME!

This is my LAST Black Tea today, SoccerMOM, promise! LOL

This smells like Black Tea and Peach. FUZZY. YAY!

Oh…
Well…
Aren’t YOU a feisty one!

Well, maybe not completely…I guess I ALWAYS wanted to use the word FEISTY in a tea review! LOL

Semi-Feisty! I will settle on that!

This is a fairly flavorful black flavored tea for a bagged tea! It’s juicy and peachy.

wombatgirl

Someone’s a little caffeniated today, ain’t they? :) This looks like my review from the other day when I was bouncing off the walls.

Ewa

Yeah, I’m thinking making this your last black tea for the day is a good idea :P

Jillian

Feisty tea – I like it! XD

Let’s see how this goes…Lupicia did not impress me with the Happy Bags although the other teas people have swapped with me have been grand. When I have money and far less tea, I would like to buy a lot with them…but first they must pass the peach test.

Momo drinking Momo. Hahahaha. I gave myself the name Momo on here because 1. I am in the Peach State 2. I used to love the manga Peach Girl and 3. Momo is an Italian racing company, and they have these amazing blue seats I want in my car so badly even though that’s a silly thing to do with my car.

One of these days though I’m gonna switch it back to Amanda. I’ll keep the Bruno avatar though.

This is pretty good. I don’t think a black base is my favorite choice for a peach tea though. It’s just a little too heavy.

The peach though is most excellent. Definitely one of the best, most realistic peach flavors I’ve ever had in a tea. And when it cooled off entirely it was even better, like a fresh peach in June!

I know I have the momo oolong somewhere and then the entire tin of Momoko from the bag (as well as a sample from darby) so I will see how those do and then I will dream of the day I can make that big order. Hey, it could be only a year away.

Alphakitty

Momoko and the Momo Oolong Super Grade are even better peach teas than this imo—it seems to be one of the fruits that Lupicia is especially good at.

Azzrian

I agree with Alphakitty – Momo Oolong Super Grade is the bomb!

You know you’re a tea addict when…

I couldn’t resist the $60 grab bag from Lupicia when it came around again. I’ve always wanted one, even though I’m awash in tea at home and at the office.

Anyway this was the one I picked to try first, and review is for the pyramid sachets.

This is a very mild and pleasant tea, some peach teas seem overly artificial to me but this is pretty nice, especially for a bagged tea. Of course I did have a cup of coffee earlier today so perhaps this isn’t the best time to be trying something new. I am sipping on it plain and it doesn’t really need anything. I can’t really place the base tea but I’m wondering if it’s a nilgiri since it seems very mild, or perhaps a ceylon.

It’s more natural tasting than some Lupicia teas I’ve tried which remind me of gummy bears. I will definitely be trying this iced as well…

Uhhh you sure this is a black? Both my friend and I thought it tasted like an oolong. And vaguely of peach!
When I first brewed it, I smelled peach. Cooked peaches. Yum. But then as the tea cooled, it blended in more and more, until it was barely present at all.
At that pointed I tasted what I thought was oolong. A roasted, average, smooth oolong.
Anyhow, I’m not sure how to rate this because I haven’t been craving oolongs lately. If I had been in the mood for one, this just might have been stellar for me. But I’ve been more about black and green teas lately. I’ll leave it be for now, until I come across it again :)

Well, I wondered about this tea for long enough. thanks to Sil it’s in my cup and I can stop wondering. Turns out I wasn’t missing much.

Sometimes I feel like I’m deficient somehow and can’t get flavour out of these teas. But then some teas come along and give me confidence again that I can taste flavours and I can make a yummy cup. No, there’s no happy ending here. This tea makes me doubt my taste buds yet again. Who are these people raving about peach? (And why does my iPad want to correct “peach” to "preschool?)

I’ve made it hot and tried. I added sugar and tried. Poured it over ice and tried. Someone is trying to pull the wool over my eye with this one. I had fantasies about ripe, flavourful, juicy peaches. I’m getting instead that disappointment you get from eyeing a gorgeous piece of fruit only to bite in it and find it mealy and cardboard-y. Waaaah!

I really don’t mean to be harsh but I’m getting mostly black tea. I can’t even smell the peach. It’s not awful or anything, it’s just not peachy.

A sample from Queen of Tarts. I’ve only had one peach flavoured tea before, I think, and that was Adagio’s peach oolong. I wasn’t overkeen on the flavouring in that one, because it seemed hugely artificial, but it did make me reconsider oolongs. Anyway, this tea is much better on the peach flavouring front, I think. It tastes sweet and delicate, much like an actual peach, and the black tea base remains firmly in the background. I’m not 100% sure whether the flavouring is wholly natural, and it was maybe a touch too sweet for me this morning, but I’m looking forward to trying it again another time. As flavoured blacks go, this is a pretty good one!

greenteafairy sent this to me in a swap. I haven’t had much luck with peach teas so far, but I hadn’t tried one with a black tea base before, so that was new.

The first impression I got was a generic poorly flavored black tea. I now read that it is blended with authentic peaches and I see that reviewers are commenting on the pleasant natural peach flavor. It just doesn’t taste natural to me and the back base isn’t all that exciting either. Oh well, it was worth trying anyway!

I’ve had really mixed experiences with this tea. Sometimes it comes out more or less as you describe, and sometimes a bit better (i.e., peachier, if only in a gummy-candy way). But I’m with you on the base, definitely.
