Orange, Passionfruit & Jasmine Green

Making a to-go cup for the drive home…and decupboarding at the same time. Hopefully this will help me to wake up and not be sleepy on the drive!!

It’s so rainy and blah today – I could really use another cup of tea. I decided to try this one that Jaime sent! Thank you Jaime!

I taste passion fruit, followed by a green tea flavor. I’m not getting orange or jasmine. I also taste a strange taste which I can’t identify. It tastes like…mothballs! I think it’s a wonky trying to be jasmine flavor. Some bitterness. Granted, I’m not a huge green tea fan, but this strange taste is bothering me. I don’t think I can finish the cup. This is not a good one for me :( I do have a few more bags – if anyone would like to try it, I would be happy to pop them into an envelope for you and mail them! Just let me know.

I do have another flavored green bag in my arsenal – I think I will try it as a comparison next!

I do appreciate trying this Jaime! Everything I try further refines what I know I like and don’t like – it’s an education :)

This smells like orange cough medicine…bleh. I’m TRYING to keep an open mind, tho…

It’s a bag. It ‘brews’ to a yellow/orange/murky color.

I can taste the Passion Fruit and Orange first and foremost. The Jasmine is more in the aftertaste.

It’s not as awful as I thought it would be but it’s not real great either. I can finish the cup but all I can think of is herbs, citrus, fake passionfruit, and medicine. There isn’t much green tea here.

Meh.

I was looking for something to sip down tonight since my paycheck is tomorrow and I’m anticipating that, though I haven’t decided where yet, I’m going to be placing at least one medium to large sized order with someone. I’m torn right now between 52teas, Butiki (but we’re talking $100 order for this one), Della Terra, CeasersTea, Harney & Sons, and TeaCupany. So many places to try out…

Also, I’m gonna stop at my local DAVIDsTEA and replenish my Cranberry Pear and pick up more Gingerbread and White Chocolate Frost…

Anyway, I completely forgot I even had this tea bag – probably because for whatever reason it never got logged into my cupboard. I remember exactly where I got it from, though! Last time or second last time or whichever it was when I visited Robyn at the University I stole one of these teabags from their cafeteria (shhh). I remember that was right around when I got my Teavivre samples from Lala and I was on a “try all the jasmin!” type of kick that weekend.

So, sipdown! I steeped following directions on the teabag: 100 degrees celsius steeped for 1 1/2 min. To be honest, the teabag dry smelled disgusting: like some God awful combination of moss, lawn trimmings, medicinal orange flavoured stuff, and cheap jasmine perfume. Yuck! Steeped, however, this smells much more pleasant. The orange smells juicier, like when you’ve just finished cutting a large bowl of orange slices and there’s that very slight orange juice mist kind of hanging in the air. The passionfruit mingles nicely with this.

I’m not a huge green tea fan (though I am learning to tolerate flavoured greens), and there’s still a fairly cheap and unpleasant vegetal smell coming off the tea, but I’m tolerating it because it’s not as nasty as the dry teabag smelled. The jasmine smells ok and marries nicely with the orange and passionfruit – but it’s just a touch perfumey smelling.

I keep smelling pine and mint too, and that might be throwing me off. However, I know that’s not part of the tea – it’s from the vapor rub/muscle relaxant I just finished applying to all my aching limbs. Mostly I feel like jello right now – which is VERY nice. I have a feeling I’ll sleep well tonight but I don’t want to jinx it.

Ok – taking little baby sips now: the tea is still very hot and I don’t want to burn my mouth. It’s actually pretty good. The jasmine doesn’t come off as too artificial in the taste, although while the orange and passionfruit still taste juicy they have reverted a little bit back to the “medicinal” quality. It’s not unbearable, though. Not at all. The green tea isn’t too strong for me, and I appreciate that. Basically, everything marries together really well. Only real downside is that the aftertaste reminds me of those really grainy and chalky orange flavoured chewable vitamins. Not so fond of that…

However, considering this is Lipton and it’s really cheap, I could MAYBE see this as something I’d buy (or steal) more of just so I could have a cheap bagged jasmine tea with some other additional flavours for when I’m so lazy I just can’t put in the effort for a good cup of loose leaf, or to take with as a travel tea. However, operative word there is cheap.

Last night the husband was tired and went to bed a bit early so I took the newspaper into bed to read a bit. I wanted a cup of tea to take with me and it was cold in the apartment so I wanted tea quickly so I could get under the covers. So I made this bagged Orange, Passionfruit, and Jasmine Green. It was a decent enough cup, though slightly bitter. I could taste a bit of orange, jasmine, and green tea but not the passionfruit.

Feeling the flu bug and can’t find my “I’m sick” feelgood tea (Lipton Orange & Spice). But I found this in the pantry. Pretty good, especially once it cooled down enough to let you get more than a sip at a time. Very subtle fruit flavors balancing a good green tea undertone. This one is a winner for elegance…not an “in your face” fruit tea.

Well, this was a surprise. I forgot I even had it. I was looking for something to drink with a light supper of steamed potstickers and spotted this.

I did not expect to like it. My experience with green teas has not, overall, recommended me to them But I did enjoy this Lipton! For me the orange and jasmine were much stronger than the passionfruit. I sweetened it lightly and it was just right with the dumplings. I’m going to try another cup with cookies and call it a night.

This tea actually makes you feel refreshed after drinking. I’ve never encountered a hot beverage that quenches your thirst quite like this does. It’s surprising. I recommend enjoying a cup of this tea with some good quality dark chocolate. Trust me.

I don’t know why I even tried this, seeing as I hate citrus flavored pretty much anything.

Bought this on impulse at Target this weekend as a house-warming gift to myself. Just tried it at work after lunch.

First impression: bag smells great, tropical and can’t detect the jasmine.

As it brews: was surprised at how long the water was clear, its a very yellow green tea.
Also what are the white dots floating in the tea bag?? – not natural looking!

Tasting: Orange is main note I am getting with sweetness being lent from the passionfruit flavor (barely detectable). I get a slightly floral aftertaste but nothing distinctly jasmine. I’m not getting much green tea taste, its tastes like water infused with orange, passionfruit and jasmine as opposed to a green tea with these ingredients.

Overall pleasant experience especially the aroma. I only steeped for 2:15 min. because I read the reviews and some said it gets bitter, may experience with temps/times for this one or try it iced. I had low expectations so I can dig this.
