Traveling Tea Box C #16
My moms whole side of the family is pure GERMAN and live there. So instinctively I HAD TO TRY THIS. It was definitely a reminder of Germany and the many tea times I enjoyed there as a little girl. Just because of the memories it brought back I will have to keep a few Tablespoons of this one for myself. To whoever added this(I don’t have the list on hand right now) I thank you for helping bring back a great part of my childhood.

That was me!!! So glad u liked it. I purchased it in Oberammergau. I have to get thru a lot of my stash before we go again next fall…love getting teas as souvenirs.

Tea #5 from Traveling Tea Box C

It looks like I’m the first one here on Steepster to log this tea. I tried finding more information about it online, but didn’t find much other than a few German blogs, one of which priced this baby for 2.50 Euro for 250g…. that’s less than $7/lb. Blew my mind.

This was easily my favorite tea in the box. It tastes of scrumptious, (not overly) burnt sugar. The rooibos base is so, so deliciously rich. The liquor was the deepest red I’ve ever seen come from rooibos.

I usually don’t resteep rooibos, but given how flavorful the first round was, I decided to give it another go for about ten minutes. The results were nearly as fantastic as the first steep. The gooey caramel quality was still present, and the rooibos was still incredibly flavorful.

Now all I need is a German friend who can ship a steady supply of this to my door…

I have this one set aside to sample, but haven’t got to it yet. I haven’t found a caramel tea that I like yet and I’d probably skip this one except that it is a German tea and as a German major, I feel obliged lol.

The Bourbon Street Vanilla Rooibos is also really good, so I’d recommend giving that one a try too.

Eleventh tea sampled from TTB-C

Tee aus Deutschland! Wie aufregend! :p

So, I had to try this tea because anything with German words all over it always lures me in. I’ve dabbled in several languages, but one day, I was listening to a German song and all of the sudden I realized that it was the most beautiful language I’ve ever heard. Years later, the love hasn’t died. ( in case anyone is curious, the particular song that started it all can be heard here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fvSgCtndxAA )

Yeah, so, really superficial reason to try a tea. Why should a caramel rooibos from Germany be different or better than any other? Much like coconut, caramel is a flavor that I love in everything except tea. In tea, it leaves a most unpleasant aftertaste. The caramel in this tea really wasn’t so strong. I got the burnt sugar flavor that Fiddling noted. However, I still got hints of the caramel aftertaste. Nothing unbearable, but it ruins the experience some nonetheless. I let my husband finish the cup and he loved it (he rates it about 92).

Woe to me that almost everyone else can enjoy the best dessert flavors in tea and I get to have the rare disagreeable palate. boooo.

TTBC2 #10

Wow, it seems that other Steepsterites really liked this tea.

I, on the other hand, didn’t find it very exciting at all. There was a litle bit of promise of caramel in the aroma of loose leaf but once it was steeped, it turned out to be just a good-quality rooibos with no extra flavoring to it. I enjoyed it as my last tea of last night, but there was not much to it. A good but forgettable cup.
