Peaches & Ginger

I am always drawn to weird sounding blends and this was no exception. As soon as I ripped off the seal on the tin, I was hit by a deliciously overwhelming peach aroma. The tea itself is fairly medium bodied, with warming notes of ginger and hints of peach. Its not the ginger knock-out you need when you’re feeling rundown, but a nice and light tea nonetheless (best sans milk too). Another tea I imagine would be fantastic iced – can you tell I’m dying for my upcoming midwinter summer escape?

Got this bagged from a little cafe on the way to work. My thoughts were that something with ginger in it would ward off the chilly feelings from the torrential downpour this morning. This hit just the spot.

I like the natural-tasting, not too sweet peach flavor. It could have used maybe a pinch more ginger, but that’s a personal preference. From what I could tell of the base, it was an ok-tasting black- maybe slightly astringent, but I did have the bag in there for a long time since I went straight to our staff meeting this morning and couldn’t get rid of the bag without calling undue attention to myself. I also felt like there was vanilla in there, but I’ve been tasting vanilla in everything lately. Maybe it’s my cold.

This puckery black tea seems to have a lot of bit to it. Astringent and assertive, it certainly grows on you as you continue to sip.

While the peach aroma certainly comes out with the dry leaf aroma, it’s less notable once brewed. There I catch light hints of peach, but mostly I seem to get the Ginger.

In the dark, almost coffee-ish liquor I taste the peach at first, but it quickly dissipates and is taken over by the ginger and the strong astringency this tea has.

Try this one iced and/or with a couple lumps of sugar to soften it up. You won’t regret it.

The scent of ginger is noticeable very shortly after pouring the water onto the leaves. When steeping is complete the aroma is mild but spicy, with what seems like a hint of cinnamon, evoking memories of mulled wine at Christmastide. When tasted the ginger came through more than the peach, and the overall flavor was smooth and subtle. A little sugar helped awaken the flavor, bringing the peach and ginger out a little more and balancing the two. A little added cream changed the flavor again and reminded me at once of a good, creamy chai or a hot toddy. With or without cream, I would recommend just a little sugar to fully awaken the flavor. This is a delightful tea, and I’m already thinking of what it might be like with a little nip of brandy and a cinnamon stick at the holidays.

Finally a great peach ginger tea! I have to say thank you so much to SimplyJenW for sending me a sample of this tea. When you open up the bag, you can smell a great mix of peaches and ginger as well as black tea. Just by smelling this tea it makes me relax.

I followed Jens instructions for 1tsp per cup and steep for 3 min. It turned out perfectly. The smell after brewing was a nice warm peach with a bit of zing from the ginger, the black tea makes a nice background for the peaches and ginger to play.

The first taste was so peachy and just what I thought a ginger peach tea should taste like. The tea had a juiciness but at the same time it just a bit of astringent feeling in the mouth at the end. Really, really good!

My wife loves peach iced tea (especially the bottled H&S version) so I thought I’d try this out. So far I’ve done this tea hot and my wife and I both enjoy it, we add just a little honey and it’s great. We’re looking forward to the summer to try it iced!

First cuppa today. I went a little lighter on the amount of tea per cup. I do think this works well for Harney’s blends to avoid bitterness. Also, a 3 minute steep seems to do the trick. This blend has the perfect amount of ginger and peach.

The last cup of a sample packet. A mild peach flavor, with a stronger (but still mild) ginger finish. Good body for a flavored tea. This would be excellent with a drop of whipping cream or heavy cream in it, stirred and taken with dessert. Also excellent with a few drops of whole milk. Does not get bitter when brewed with boiling water. Recommended if you like ginger.

I just came back from a week of revelry and my voice was shot. I thought I’d brew up a tincture to soothe my throat, and I remembered I had a ginger tea of some sort in my tea vault. This was it. It’s a decent Black tea with some peach and ginger notes, but nothing special. Can’t say it helped my voice much either. Good thing I had a stash of candied ginger in my fridge.

When you first open the tin, you’ll find several large chunks of candied ginger mixed in. The ginger taste is a bit sharp, but blends really well, while there’s only the slightest hint of peach, but it’s just enough. If you like ginger, you’ll love this tea.
