Black tea from the Fujian province of China. Golden Monkey tea is hand-processed each spring with a careful plucking of only one leaf and one bud. It’s bready/cakey sweetness with a certainly chewiness to it that I can’t get past! YUM. It’s Malty and the warmth lingers well after the sip. This is truly terrific!
I’m not really sure what to make of this. Mostly because I’m not really sure how to describe it. Lol.
I keep sipping at it to see if I can figure it out, but my mind draws blank. I guess it’s got a strong malty-ness to it, if I’m figuring what that even means out right. Maybe a bit of woodiness. A strong something taste. Lol.
Strong astringency, especially as it cools.
Bah. I give up! /throws hands in air/ What I do know is that, while it was nice to try, it’s just not for me. I’m just more into fruity/sweet teas in general. Into the swap bin it goes. Lol.

Not sure how else to describe it. I’m cold and shivery and need to focus on drinking this tea to warm up instead of analyzing while it cools!

This was my tea of choice at work today.
I normally like golden monkey, and I normally like Fujian teas and I liked this one, but I thought it was just ok. I just feel I’ve had better examples of this type. It was ok, nothing really wrong with it – I just didn’t feel it was special. I think I’ve drank some really good black tea lately and anything that’s just “good” it’s quite cutting it.
I think this is a good tea, and I encourage others to try it, but it won’t make my top 10 list.

:)) It gives me hope that my “I need to try EVERYTHING” phase is slowly fading. As much as I enjoy trying new things, I do feel that I’ve had the pleasure of experiencing some truly AMAZING one. I should spend more time with those special ones.
Of course the problem is you never know when that next special one is going to reach out and grab you. :))

Okay Lori and I have been in search of the perfect Golden Monkey tea. How does this compare to Teas Etc and Adagio GM? We like malty.
I don’t think I have had Teas Etc but I like it better than Adagio’s!
