The Scottish caramel pu-erh is a mix of Yunnan pu-erh tea and butterscotch pieces with natural caramel flavors. This is a dessert in a cup. It has earthiness of pu-erh fuses with caramel for a sweetly decadent finish.

YUM. As I was brewing this one, the caramel scent was driving me WILD! It is a heavy, rich and earthy puerh base, but the sugary sweet caramel overtones complement it wonderfully. Thanks very much BrewTEAlly Sweet for including this in our swap! I went on the Enjoyingtea website and am sad that the smallest amount they sell is 4oz. With the kind of stash I have, I try to buy 1oz or less of most teas.

Stephanie

Ehh, the more I drink this, the more musty the base tea seems…guess I am a little pu-erh picky!

Kittenna

This tea is available from a bunch of different vendors, and they’re all quite similar/the same :) English Tea Store and Majesteas, off the top of my head, also carry it.

Sil

yep…and for nearly all that i’ve tried, you want to drink it hot haha

Stephanie

Yeah, the more I drank it the more I wanted to lower my rating…not the best quality puerh. Earthy turns to dirty pretty quick! :P

BrewTEAlly Sweet

Glad you got around to this pu-erh. its definitely one that was not one of my favorites but I thought since our tastes were different sometimes and that you were going on a pu-erh testing I thought I would include it. :)

I’m alive and still reviewing! I promise.

I just got married on the 20th, so it’s taken me a while to get back in the swing of everything. It was kind of like the heading to the final frontier of a seven year relationship, hah!

I’m up in the air on this tea. It’s very sweet and has a lot of sugar/candy flavor is quite strong. So is the pu-erh, though. And I’m not quite sure I like them together as much as I thought I might. It’s like two very dense heavy flavors fighting for dominance. I think I would have preferred the toffee to be more buttery with some nuttiness to balance the cup better.

Received this and a few other goodies for Father’s Day.

Opening the 4oz bag immediately filled the room with the titular caramel toffee aroma. I just HAD to try a cup right then and there! The pu-erh base tasted earthy, musty, and well…dirty, but I dove right in; baited by the powerful English toffee notes, your humble narrator’s Achilles heel.

I felt the base just wasn’t good enough for the flavour added by the toffee pieces and is the main reason for a lower rating on a recommended tea. The addition of a splash of milk and a tsp sugar help tremendously. I don’t feel it lives up to the name of “dessert in a cup” but it definitely smells like it. I enjoyed it and will have no problem getting through 4oz, but it could’ve been so much better.
