2022 Spring Tea Swap – Day 9
From Emilie!

I love love love peach and ginger black teas, and this one hits the mark. I was excited to see another Dessert by Deb tea in the lineup today after really loving yesterday’s blend. This is one I would definitely buy if I were to put in an order. I’m trying to restrain myself for now after lots of decaf purchases in April and May. Speaking of, it took me some time to mentally prepare but today starts my attempt at cutting my caffeine consumption by half. In a couple of weeks, I’ll cut it out altogether for a bit. Not long, maybe just a couple of weeks to see how it goes. I’ve been monitoring my heart rate and blood pressure up until this point, so I’m curious to see how those fluctuate with this change. Hopefully not at all. I have too many teas to give it up entirely, at least for a while!

Much more peach than anything else – and the same bright, sweet juicy peach note that is consistent across Deb’s teas. I love this peach flavour, but I do of course wish Deb’s blends had a touch more diversity to them. The finish was a bit gingery though and I got a little bit of cardamom and coconut. So it’s not simply just a peach tea, even though it’s mostly a peach tea. I do enjoy it though.

I’m an absolute sucker for peach teas and this one is no different! It reminds me a lot of the peaches and cream oatmeal that you get in those variety packs, which is great because that’s always my favorite flavor!

The chai isn’t super strong here, which I think is a good thing. Full out chai would overwhelm the peach flavor. As is, they go together very nicely. I agree with other reviews that the ginger is a bit much, but not so much that it ruins the tea for me. Overall, I could see myself getting this again!

I’m exactly the same with peach teas — I’m so picky about them too! I’m glad you enjoyed this one!

Sipdown! (2 | 2)

I like the idea of this one. And I like the peaches & cream part of it too.

But there’s too much ginger IMO, and it throws the whole thing off. The dried ginger root makes it taste too sharp and almost earthy, and takes it in a more savory direction. Also, there’s no cinnamon, which is odd when something like peach cobbler would generally have cinnamon. Maybe Deb was afraid it would be too similar to Peach Crumble Cake if it had cinnamon?

If she had reduced the amount of ginger and added some cinnamon, I think I would’ve liked this a lot more. As-is, it’s not a winner for me.

Despite being a black tea, I got strong vibes of the original 52teas Peach Chai white tea – just a similar peachy flavour and spicing (cardamom-heavy) – and with the base of this one being fairly nondescript, it didn’t impact the flavour much. End result is a nice, unique, light chai that tastes pretty good without additions. Enjoyed this one!
