From DAVIDsTEA

This unique and smooth white tea is as exclusive as it tastes. Hailing from high altitude Nepalese mountains, you’ll be wrapped in a bright and floral aroma, tasting sugar snaps and white flowers. The altitude produces bold and full-bodied teas that feel as luxurious as they are special.

What makes it great:

This Nepalese tea is produced high in the mountains, creating bold, full-bodied flavours.

The taste is reminiscent of a first flush Darjeeling – a classic Himalayan character.

Nepal White is perfect for fans of our Bai Hao Yin Zhen.

How it tastes:
Taste golden hour through bright sugar snaps & white flowers.

Day 1 of Around the World Advent Calendar 2023 features this tea.

Notes from box: Breathe in the high altitude of Nepalese mountains with this white tea’s crisp and light floral aroma grown in the Shangri-La Tea Estate.

My notes: Very mildly buttery in the mouth with hints of dry grass upon swallowing. Light wildflower and meadow grass aroma with very little floral on the palate. Very subtle, like a light bamboo-fiber cardigan that goes with everything in your closet. Would be good with many types of food. Enjoyable but not memorable.

Flavors: Butter, Dry Grass, Wildflowers

This season is just so busy, I always get behind on the advent teas and notes.

I don’t have much to say about this one. I really, really tried to come up with some kind of flavor profile, but I just didn’t feel it tasted like much. It was almost like one of these green teas I’m really enjoying turned down to the lowest possible volume? I don’t think it was bad; I think I’m not sophisticated enough in palate to really get it. White may be something I just enjoy better with flavorings.

(DavidsTea 2022: 37)

Got my latest tea order and chose a couple straight teas to try first. Unfortunately, I was eating delicious delicious chocolate seashells and aside from this being pleasant and lightly flavoured, with some sweetness, I can’t say much. Lots to work with, though.

Adventaggedon Day Fourteen – 1/6

Gongfu!

I’ve had several consecutive nights of very poor sleep, and this morning when I woke up after just over an hour of sleep I felt like I had hit a wall of insomnia so bad I couldn’t picture walking to the metro without tripping over my own feet. Not so fun fact – when my insomnia gets really bad I’ve been known to leave my apartment without shoes on and not notice for blocks. So, that was a sign to take a sick day.

I tossed all of this sample into a gaiwan that was definitely too small for the leaf quantity I had, but I rolled with it and just kept my steeps very, very short. It was actually a beautiful session with really sweet and aromatic top notes. It tasted a lot like some kind of floral flavoured candy, but in a non-cloying way and coupled with equally fragrant notes of sugar snap peas. Very crisp and vegetal underneath that layer of flowers and sweet perfume. All the teas today were really good, but this one was especially just what my soul needed in that late morning haze.

Thank the advent spirits that almost all of my teas today were caffeinated, so I was able to get something into my system to make me feel like less of a zombie before eventually crashing and getting some sleep in the afternoon.

Friendly reminder that I do not numerically rate DAVIDsTEA blends as I’m currently employed there and it would be an obvious conflict of interest. Any blends you see with numerical ratings were rated prior to my employment there. These reviews are a reflection of my personal thoughts and feelings regarding the teas, and not the company’s.

Insomnia is no fun at all. I’m glad you were able to get some sleep. :)

Nattie

I’m with you on the insomnia. Hope it passes soon!
