Hmmmm. Mixed opinion on this one. For starters, the tea in the baggie has a weird old-folks-home smell to it. I’m actually starting to wonder if the bags themselves have a funky smell, because I think I might have picked this up with the two matchas I had as well. It’s not present in the brewed tea. What is present is some sweet apple flavouring (kind of green apple, but definitely sweeter), with ginger overtones. And then a bit of an odd flavour, which is perhaps the kombucha (yeasty?) I think what I’m sad about here is that the base is really ho-hum. The flavourings are nice, and the base looks okay (nice green full leaves), but what I really want in a flavoured green is a true pairing of base and flavouring, not just a tasteless carrier. So yes. It’s ok; I wish it was more. if I had to guess, I’d expect it might be somewhat popular due to the green apple flavouring.

Popped into a DT’s shop today to take advantage of the 2x FS points offer on leaf and yay, yet another free cup of tea of the day. Which again was this one—could do much worse. Good and gentle and nicely steeped. This reminds me of the bottled green tea blends in the refrigerator section of the corner store, plus the suggestion of green apple. The kombucha fizziness and slight sourness is missing altogether here but that is all to the good.

I’m sad I had to miss this day. We’re down to one car, and my husband has soccer on Thursdays… it just wasn’t going to work for me to make it to a DT with the baby. Kind of bummed. Hopefully these Frequent Steeper events happen a few times a year!

Today is free cup of tea of the day day in honour of International Women’s Day! Maybe that’ll work. (Babies are cute but loud and cumbersome. But they’re cute, so there’s that.)

Yep, I saw that and think I might make my way there this afternoon after I get the car! Had it just been me yesterday, maybe I would have tried the bus, but I’m just not willing to do that with the baby (I know, so many people do, and they are incredible; I am absolutely lazy and entitled.)

I didn’t get to DT’s today. thought about it and that’s as far as it got.

I made it! I got a free Frozen Raspberry TOTD, which was lovely, and also a free sample of a not-yet-released tea. And then I purchased about $15 of matcha, Green Apple Kombucha, and Mango Boost samples, which would have been nice to get 2x Frequent Steeper points on!

First tea of the day today; I was craving an iced latte this morning (it’s so nice out!) but also something fruity and caffeinated – and looking at the tea wall I didn’t see a ton of options for fruity, caffeinated teas I could latte that wouldn’t curdle. Boo!

I decided to take a risk on this one; I wasn’t 100% certain it would curdle. It didn’t though, and I wound up with a mug of strange, but delicious, Green Apple Kombucha iced latte. I think, to really enjoy this, I had to stop thinking of it as Kombucha because, let’s be real, kombucha definitely should NOT have milk in it. That just sounds all kinds of nasty. Instead, I just enjoyed this for the creamy matcha/apple flavour and hints of ginger which seemed to actually be the bridge that made this work. Without that tiny, subtle amount of spice I think the creamy green apple flavour would have felt too weird and unenjoyable for me.

And honestly? Strange as it was, I think I liked this tea better as an iced latte than prepared as a straight hot cup of tea. How weird is that!?

Friendly reminder that I do not numerically rate DAVIDsTEA blends as I’m currently employed there and it would be an obvious conflict of interest. Any blends you see with numerical ratings were rated prior to my employment there. These reviews are a reflection of my personal thoughts regarding the teas, and not the company’s.
