Green Tea Kombucha

My 1st Kombucha! I really need to start w/ unflavored versions of teas…

As soon as I put the bag in, it smells like lemon jello… and at the end of steeping that scent remains, only the aroma of peppermint is added. The flavors are much more mellow than I expected (mellow, not weak). The peppermint is slightly more pronounced than the lemon, but it blends well… and there’s definitely still the jello-esk component! Kombucha no longer scares me and I can’t wait to try an unflavored loose version!

I…don’t understand how one puts kombucha into a tea bag. I am pretty sure that’s some kind of ploy to get you to buy this one for medicinal benefits. Like similarly I’m not trusting anyone who claims to have yogurt probiotics in a tea bag either or something.

So no, this doesn’t taste like kombucha, and I doubt whatever is in here to pretend to be kombucha has any semblance of drinking actual kombucha because the whole point of kombucha is to have the live stuff in there. I highly doubt that stuff survives being turned into a powder or whatever’s going on in teas like this.

For what it actually is, it’s not too bad, but I think it tastes terrible hot. When I let it cool off, the plum and passionfruit flavors were stronger. Before it was just the lemongrass and mint with a little fruity aftertaste.

I wouldn’t drink this again.

went with this one instead of the echinacea, because it steeps quicker and tastes better.

A mug of this stuff, steeped at exactly 170 degrees F for three to four minutes, and stuffing copious amounts of processed junk food into my mouth is how I’m choosing to deal with that excruciating phone interview I just had.

Being a college senior looking for a job sucks. Especially if you happen to be painfully shy and not good at interviewing. Stammered, repeated myself, and rambled.

Well, this blend is good, as always. Yogi herbal blends are hit or miss, but their green tea blends are always right on. Yay for minty, fruity, sweetness!

I bough this tea more out of curiosity than anything else. I have tried bottled kombucha in the past with….not so great results. But as this is mixed with green tea I hoped it would go down better.

The smell is very fruity, like plums or papayas, but there flavour is more minty green tea with a hint of fruit and something tangy which I think is supposed to be the kombucha. It’s not half bad for a bagged green tea, although I was expecting a little bit more kombucha than there actually was.

Got this in a swap from KallieBoo! I mostly grabbed this because I’m coming down with a cold and the package conveniently says that it supports immune function. I figured what the heck, it can’t hurt. I didn’t expect to like it considering I didn’t even know what Kombucha meant. The smell when steeped is like lemon mixed with medicinal herbs. Suprisingly good when mixed with a little sugar. Not something that I would necessarily drink for fun, but not at all bad when a cold is brewing. I would definitely add it to my collection.

Claire gave me this tea! It has a very appetizing fruity scent and a warm, delicate, mellow flavor. It’s like a passing passionfruit farted into the cup—you don’t taste so much as smell it. Oversteeping made it a little harsh for me, but still quite drinkable.

This is MUCH better than the other Yogi Green tea I had the other day. I was intrigued by the Kombucha since originally I thought you could only get it in bottled form. The package said to steep the bag for 3 minutes, but I forgot about it and steeped it for longer. Not too bad and not as bitter as I thought it would be. The green tea is a little more prominent here, as is the lemongrass and a little bit of the mint.

My original experience with Kombucha was the bottled stuff that tastes a LOT like vinegar and was pretty bad to drink. Thankfully, this is a lot better.

This was my first cuppa Green Kombucha by Yogi and overall, it is worth more. The first impression on taking it out of the packet was an overwhelming spearmint scent to the point that I was worried that was all I would taste as well. The box recommends using “very near” boiling water and a 3 minute steep time and I followed those steps.
The first sip gave me a happy light taste of plum, a tart lemongrass aftertaste, and mint refreshment throughout. The mint scent tamed down considerably once under water.
The second brew with one bag was very pale and much less enjoyable even though I left the tea bag in the cup while I drank it. I didn’t try a third.
It is billed as aiding in digestive and immune functions; I won’t put any money on either unless I drank it constantly and there are too many great teas out there to enjoy.
So this is a good tasting tea but not the best bang for my buck since I can’t re-brew it.

My mycology professor gave me a bag of this. I had to get over the kombucha part before deciding to try it, but it’s actually a very pleasant tea. A bit hard to describe the taste, though. The lemongrass was tangible for the 1st infusion, but the taste diluted out for the 2nd and 3rd. It would be good for a day full of statistics programs and thesis writing.
